ok i am a high volume guy , i believe that the muscle must be hit by different excercises for 4-6 sets . i have seen my best gains ever every time i do a high volume workout. but i always read about HIT , i didn't try it because i didn't have access to nautilus equipment.

iam going on a ten day vacation starting tomorrow and the gym in this compound iam going to is "yeah u guessed it right a nautilus gym" so i kept searching until i found ellington darden's challenge.

its not easy it consists of a full body routine 3 times in the 10 days. where i will warmup usin 12 reps for 1 set and then set the plates to my 1 rep max weight and lower the weight in 60 seconds, after that i should drop that weight in half and rep out until iam smoked then move to the next excercise.

Leg press machine
Pullover machine
Pulldown machine
Decline press machine
Lateral raise machine
Biceps curl machine
slow dips 10 seconds up and 10 second down.

now ellington claims gains upto 10 lbs . we'll see if my results are satisfying then i'll consider HIT to be a succesful way of training if not i will hunt down every HIT jedi as if it was my job. pics and weight will be posted in this thread tonight, if i have access to an internet connection i will update it daily if not i'll update it when i come back after 10 days.

i will keep the same diet activity level , so that it will be a fair comparison

do you really think you can gain ten pounds in ten days, and from circuit training of all things.

I'm not doubting it could be a productive routine, in fact I have nothing bad to say about HIT. But I do think one would need to give it more than 10 days to really be able to judge its effectiveness. How much can you really gain with anything in 10 days?

well the author said this was a 10 day only training routine , a size surge as he calls it. iam gonna give it a try and tell u how it goes. starting weight: 135lbs

Oh ok now I understand. Still 10 days is not much time to do anything. I'm very skeptical about it. Good luck and hopefully you make some gains, just make sure you hit it as hard as possible and that you are precise with your diet so you can give it a worthy judgement.

Bro, I bet you anything before they started that kinda training these guys have always done heavy compound movements, without those core excerises and progressing each time you can't build a solid base. Of course once they built their phisique they were able to do something else to bring up their weak points, etc. You are still young, you are not going to magically gain 10lbs of muscle in 10 days or gain much in 10 days, how is your diet? What you should do is start eating big, train heavy-smart, compound movements, something like 5x5, keep progressing with the weights (progressive resistance) and with your food intake and you will get bigger and stronger, simple as that. No need for all this "magic" stuff, keep it simple, basic and to the point.

thnx roland , i know what u mean i liked those HIT training sessions but i just couldn't do it with one excercise only . ok i admit it iam a gym junkie my workouts are high volume and i love the results. the HIT thing was just for the occasion u know , iam going to vacation and there's a nautilus gym , so why not see what these guys are talkin about.

i weighed today on an empty stomach iam 2.5 lbs heavier but iam also leaner than i was i credit the leaness to the insane heart rate i got from the workouts.

final review:

first , the pump it was amazing , it was ripping my skin off i saw veins i haven't seen before and i swear i could see a zillion threads in my shoulders. my heart rate skrocketed and i looked ripped than ever after each session.

second of all the man who designed the nautilus machines is a genious , the angle of the movement targets the muscle perfectly, i have never had my lats burning like when using the pullover machine and the pulldown machine.also the stretch on the decline press was amazing.

ok i give it 9/10 because i wasn't that sore and soreness is a feeling that i like.

what am i going to do?? iam going to use my high volume approach and when i plateu i'll put a cycle of HIT for 4-6 weeks

I train HIT style. I do only 1 working set per exercise, but I do multiple exercises per bodypart. I include rest-pauses, drop sets, negatives, burn reps, static holds, time under tension, etc. to increase the intensity and EFFICIENCY of the workout. I'm in and out in under an hour and I'm sore for days after every workout.

HIT is not for everyone. It's extremely demanding, not just physically, but mentally. You have to be able to mentally focus and concentrate 100% on each rep of set and do what you can to make the set harder and more taxing rather than just repin' out and ending the set in 10 or 15 seconds. It takes practice and time to learn how to focus so intensely.

I am loving it because I feel like I accomplish more during my workout rather than just pumping out 4 or 5 sets of each exercise like I see so many people do. I progress and overload each and every workout, and this is where results happen.

I LOVE HIT! Get in and out quicker to enjoy the day and recover and get stronger too. ALthouogh it's a good idea to take a few weeks off and go to volume training to give your joints a break ya know.
