I dont do any direct work for my hams on a regular basis, as I feel they get hit enough from my deads and squats. Also, there isnt any place to do reverse hypers in my gym.
So here's my question: Does anyone feel it is necessary to do leg curls at all?
I feel like an asshole if I jump into the leg curl machine. I'm asking this question because my progress on Deads has pretty much come to a halt and Im trying to narrow down any faults I might have. Thanks.

Hams need direct work. It doesnt have to be just leg curls. Stiff leg dead lifts, Sumo Leg press, and Good Mornings, these will all help your hams. And with stronger hams, watch your deads and squat jump.

Deads
Squats
GM's
RDL's
SLDL's
GHR's
Reverse Hypers
45 Deg Back Raises
Band Leg Curls
Thats all I ever do. I have not been on a Leg Curl Machine in over a year. I see no benefit in using it. I honestly dont know any Powerlifters who use the Leg Curl...it just takes up space where there could be another Power Rack, IMO.
If what you are doing is working, why change it? If it aint broke, dont fix it.

Legs curls are basically worthless; they should only be used as an auxiliary exercise. The hams are primarily used for hip extension, not knee flexion. Therefore, train them that way - RDLs, etc.
And hams MUST be trained; when an imbalance exists between the hams and the quads, it is a prime environment for knee injury. Also, with a good ham/quad strength balance, your overall leg performance (i.e., squats) will benefit as well.

i train with low volume and high intensity, after my quad workout is done (squats, hack squats, and leg extensions as a finisher) i use leg curls as a finisher for hams as well, it works for me
if you want some ham strenght i believe in glute ham raises they are worth it to try
and they are amazing
