so ive decided its time for a little vacation from the dungeon. my joints hurt more than ever...my keep getting little twinges in various muscles...i cant sleep...im having trouble keeping the intensity sky high...and this sucks. the other thing is, is that i am 4 weeks into a cut and i dont want to drop my cardio....so ill still be doing my 2 a day sessions of cardio, but im leaving the weights be for a week or so...maybe 10 days...im not sure yet.

during chest and biceps the other day i was going incline db flys....felt my left shoulder tweak and i decided that was it...ended the workout and did some cardio and went home.

the very next day i was doing back....on my last set of bb shrugs and my legs started squatting from my grip starting to go...i went to put the weight on the rack and i felt a weird pull near my spine...told myself that was it...and no cardio...i went home.

THEN...im doing legs yesterday...on my 3rd and last set of leg presses....was doing some rest pauses at the end of the set with 495....my knee kind of buckled at the top of the movement...racked the weight. got on the bike for 30 mins and went home...

needless to say, ive been having a terrible time staying asleep for the last 2 weeks or so.

you guys ever have times like this?? it sucks and i think its time for a vacation from the iron.

It happens from time to time. Some take a few days off, some injurys are a little more serious and you need to take a week or two.

I, personally, am taking the ENTIRE month of August off. I'm tied down with traveling alot and family that I don't see all to often coming into town. I'd rather take a long break and hit it up hard for 5-7 months than try and push thru and dog out thru workouts more than I'd like.

Take a break. Take a week off and see how you feel.

Active rest, as in cardio, swimming, biking, surfing etc will do you good, no need to beat yourself up over any of it, I take 2 weeks off a few times a year, no training what so ever, I do go abroad and get involved in lots of beach walking, water polo, beach volley ball etc but no weights at all, by the time i`m back home I`m itching to hit the weights again.

Maybe when you go back to the weights you should do higher reps with less weights, take a look at some of Vinnys articles, some sound advice from Vinny to me was about not counting the first exercise of a workout, do as many sets as light as you want to get all warmed up and ready for the more intense work to come, not necesarily heavier work but more intense.

Animal Flex will help a great deal with the joints mate, I am proof of that, I couldn`t squat or shoulder press hardly at all for a while, then 2 cans later of Flex and I am all good, I`m now on my 4th or 5th can, it will be a staple of my daily supplement intake along with The Pak always, I`m 44 years old now and my training is heavy but more importantly more intense than ever, I also switch things around as per Vinnys advice every month too, another great tip from Vinny "What works is what you are not doing" (Bang On Vinny and thanks)

thanks mang....i am gonna look into flex..i had planned on it anyway considering im only 23 and it feels like every joint in my body hurts right now...

i am still gonna do my 75 mins of cardio everyday, but im def. gonna leave the weights alone for 10 days or so.

Strongly agree! Just because we are bodybuilders/powerlifters/strongmen/olympic style weightlifters does not mean that we are totally in shape. Venture out and do some really random shit and be active. Who knows, you may find a new fun way to substitute some cardio (because the treadmill can get boring...).

....and I'm 19 and every joint has chronic pain. Flex saved my ass for a long time.

so come to find out i have a pinched nerve in my back...the twinge i felt the day i was shrugging ended up becoming a pinched nerve...and now i was told to not even touch a weight for at least 3 weeks...

its weird though...bc when i stand it doesnt hurt, but as soon as you put pressure on it i get radiating pulsing burning pain up and down my spine. the worst is driving from the car seat rubbing on it...wtf
