This kid is a fucking freak! One of the most inspirational deadlift vids I've ever seen!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aw9yhC9cqU

Awesome sumo form too, looked like he could've easliy pulled more, he'll easily be up to a 1k+ if he works towards it.

thats a sweet video. I like how he has to have that big entrance, does that hand thing then just grabs and lifts. Looked easy to him too.

Shit man very few can even do that, and he was only 19 when doing pulling that! He must have some elite genetics. Bet he could pull even more conventional, that vid was was put up 2 years ago so I wonder what he's pulling now. Couldn't find anymore vids on him but I found this interview:http://www.trainordie.com/articles/kgulledge.htm and he squats 815, and benches 570!!!!!!!

Looked like a inzer champion or z suit. As we all know though (unlike the keyboard warriors on youtube lol) suits don't help too much on deadlifts. It might help give a little bit of support but it's nothing but brute ass strength pulling some heavy ass weight on the floor.

I'm gonna switch up to sumo for a bit and see how it goes. Been doing conventional for a while and I just recently read something that said if you get your sumo up your conventional will be even higher.

Shizz you're right on the suits. They don't do shit for deads.....deads are just brute strength and that's it. Damn impressive!

uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh I saved this thing on MS word. It tells you whether or not you'd perform better conventional/sumo. Dont remember where I got it, and I dont mean to de-rail the thread.

1. Secure a tape measure to the wall with the zero end at the floor. Make sure the metric side (centimeters) is what you are using.

2. Stand with your back against the wall. Measure from the top of your shoulder to the floor. This will give you your total body measurement.

3. With a straight arm and your hand in a fist, measure from the top of your shoulder to the middle of your fist. This is your total arm length.

4. Raise your thigh to determine where your thigh rotates into your pelvis. Once located, lower your leg to the floor and measure from the top of the shoulder to this point. This is your trunk length. Also, subtract this measurement from your total body measurement to give you your lower body length.

Record these measurements and perform the following calculations:

1. Divide "trunk length" by "arm length".
2. Divide "trunk length" by "lower body length".

The resultant numbers will tell you the following:

1. Arm to trunk length ratio. Example: If your truk is 50 cm and your armi is 65 cm, divide 65 into 50=0.77. This indicates that your trunk is 77% of your arm length or that your arm is 23% longer than your trunk.

2. Trunk to lower body length ratio.

These numbers will help you determine which method, conventional or sumo, will allow you to lift the most weight by biomechanical standards.

CONVENTIONAL
If your trunk to arm ratio is less than 0.82 and your trunk to lower body length is less than 0.55, you should consider the conventional style. With your arms longer than your trunk, you'll finish the pull with the bar below your hip joint. This finishing position indicates that the initial starting position of your trunk (trunk angle) will be larger (more upright). This would indicate more activity from the quads as well as the hamstrings and glutes. A more upright trunk angle will also create a larger knee angle at the starting position, making the shift of the shoulders, knee, and hip more uniform-that is, they rotate in a biomechanically correct sequence.

SUMO
If your ratios are larger than 0.82 and 0.55, the initial starting angle of your trunk would be smaller (more inclined) and will therefore position you in a biomechanically inefficient position. With your trunk more inclined, the activity of your trunk and hip extension muscles will have to follow a different, more inefficient pattern. This will basically result in increased activity from your hamstrings and glutes and decreased activity from the quads. This will also increase stress on your erectors and particularly the lower back and could cause rounding of your upper back. The solution would be sumo.

Lol you ain't the only one. My max is 50% of his lol.

It's all good though man remember strength is only relavent to you individually. Set and break your own records and don't worry about others. Elite lifters like this one provide us with inspiration showing how far one can go in this game. Granted he probably has an advantage genetically but still we can all achieve crazy strength as long as we work for it.

fuck others, their impressive lifts aint doing much for yours. focus on numero uno brothers. hard work will get you where you wanna be.

to this guy, its more then genetics.

hard work
proper nutrition
proper supplementation
loads of rest
great genetics
proper chemical enhancment

thats a recepie for tremendous human performance and acheivment.

my friend could bench like 300 in 9th grade, and squat like 500 between that and tenth. Just a freak, hes so smart too, but not very knowledgeable about lifting, if he was he could be insanely strong, and huge, he gains muscle so easily, i envy his genetics, if only he put them to use.

Thats just not lower back strength...that shit takes strong abs too...you need strong abs to help keep ur front intact while u lift like that...so dont just focus so much on lower back...make sure to get those abs in too!!!

When you pull sumo, you get much more out of your suit. If you think about it, at the bar in a sumo pull is the same position as being in the hole on a wide squat, it would aid too much on the lock out, but the pop off the floor is awesome and if you can get that bar moving fast, the lock out should be easy....
