View Full Version : yo bros
iight well im on my bulk till beginning of ocotober or so and only doing cardio 1 or 2 at the most a week
here the question i had wata u eat on cheat days. i had one today and so far had pancakes, shake, burger king chicken sandwich.2 burgers.fries.and soft pretzels
-is this too much keep in mind im 5'6 but right now 152 but have alittle gut bf% 14
when october comes ill be doing strength training routine with 4 days cardio in between each workout
I know some will disagree with me but I say cut down some on the cheating bro, it's just more that u'll have to lose later once your satisfied with your size and stregth numbers. This is coming from a guy that use to firmly believe "eat what you want, training converts it to muscle". If only i could go back in time.
I say eat clean, but eat more often if your own a bulk. Add an extra shake at the end of each meal or something. And cut out the cardio unless you find urself getting too fat. A little fat is nothing to be worried about, nobody can keep those ripped 6 pack abs all year around if they want to pack on the size, Just know your limits.

i agree with checking the cheating. its always easy to say you'll just pick up on your cardio later, but you'll be hitting winter in nj soon after this bulk phase is over for you. cardio always seems to be harder to get thru in the winter.

eat whatever you want on a cheat meal... or are u doing a cheat day?
my cheat meal usually consists of a moe's burrito, largest one with the most calories.
If you are bulking, you are allowed to cheat more, you'll just need to work more when you cut... its all up to you.

a cheat meal has a very specific purpose though. it stops your metbolism collapsing an ruining your body.
this happened to a guy at my gym who did not cheat. he kept a super-strict diet for about 4months, and a few weeks before his show his metabolism 'crashed' and started eating into his muscle instead of his fat.
hes now had to take about a month off training to just eat and get himself back on track.
'cheating' when u diet is very very important - it reminds your body that your not going to die, and it tricks your body into thinking that your period of "starving" has finished, which means that when u continue with ur diet it will process the fat better.
Heres my opinion.. take it for what its worth... if you are doing a TRUE bulk feel free to cheat... you want burger king fucking eat it... just dont abuse the cheat meal.. greasy burgers and fries and pancakes are gonna just put on weight.. NOT MUSCLE... muscle comes from the right calories.. clean calories.. cheating is just a way to stop the monotiny of any kind of diet whether it be bulking or cutting... now i know every mag your gonna read is gonna say cheat it revs up your metabolism... truth is.. it does.. but just for a few hours... dont think that "Cheating" is gonna completly rework your entire metabolism... its just not true... at the most it will just take you outa ketosis if your dieting.. but after 3 days back on teh diet you'll fall right back into it..
In addition, theres a difference between dieting for the beach and dieting for a purpose... if you wanna cheat cuz your going crazy and just need to switch it up then im all for it.. but if your gonna do a shoot or a show... the last 8-10 weeks you gotta just suck it up brothers... truth is a real bad cheat CAN set you back a few days... Fact... cheating does have its place and as part of a bulk and a beach diet its a useful weapon, psychologically not metabolically to the extent that has been getting all the write ups in the mags

Good post. You cleared up some things I've been wondering about.

I agree with this. Steve Michalik discusses this in "Atomic Fitness". The body doesnt recognize the Big Mac or whatever as Food, so the body passes it through the body without turning it into fat. But the key here is that more people focus on the "I get to cheat!" part and not the "When u diet" part. See what I mean? A person has to be on a relative clean diet in the first place for the cheating to balance out the metabolism, whereas a person might think "hey im a bulk, i can eat whatever" might cheat too much and wind up gaining too much fat. I've made this mistake before I don't want others to make the same.

When Im bulking I always cheat the night before my leg workout, and maybe another time in the week (usually a moes burrito with triple meat) which is good for slamming on the mass and add to strength/size gains, hell sometimes Ill eat a shitload of crabcakes and ice cream too, depends on how hungry I am...Enjoy your offseason because dieting SUCKS!
thick gammon steak with a fried egg on top, chips, salad. and a pint of coke.
good bulking meal :D
