Im not to fond of squats, which is unfortunate because they are so essential, but I carry on nonetheless.

honestly, i cannot stand doing side lateral raises. i simply dislike the exercise - i cannot tell you why. i just don't like doing them. that said, i get good results, so i still do them anyway. but if i got the same results with something else, i'd cut them in a heartbeat. as it stands, however, nothing else works as well for me as a medial delt finishing move.

Bicep curls. I think I hate them because everybody and their brother does 'em. I can't stand the guys who grab a weight and do curls every freakin' day because chicks dig big guns. Fuck the glamour muscles.

There isn't really an exercise I hate doing. But I do hate doing biceps, forearms, and abs. Biceps and Forearms are body parts you can't really push yourself on to much. It is either you can do it or you can't give or take a rep. I love legs because when it feels like you have nothing left you can still reach deep down and get some more reps out. And abs are just plain boring.
Lat Pulldowns. While I know they are a crucial staple in building a massive back, I just hate em, plain and simple.
Squats. I know its a core exercise, but they are just uncomfortable to me
If I had to go with a exercise, it would be the Close Grip Bench Press. I'm a big dude at 6'4' and I have very long arms, so it is hard on the joints for me.

i would have to say biceps too!
Ab excercises. Doing them is a pain becuase the ab machines/equipment is on a different floor than the free weight area and it's always crowded.

I hate doing deadlifts. I love the idea of them, but the exercise itself kills my lower back and not in a good way. I still do them but I cant stand them.

I friggin hate deadlifts. It is the only exercise that I do that I need a minute or two to catch my breath and recover from. I know it is a staple and that is why I do it, but it drives me up a wall till I am done

DB row. I dunno why, but I just hate it. I'll throw them in every 3 weeks or so, but I don't like them. I'll deadlift all day long!!! Maybe because my deadlift is strong that's why I like it.

gotta back up big A. on this one. I even kill abs every other day. I know they are stronger and are the core foundation, but, dang it, they seem to require the most work for the least progress. But, come november or december, it will all be worth it...show time.
Squats are, it seems, only comfortable to me when my form is bad, and NEVER anything but excruciating when done correctly. It feels like my body was simply not meant to move that way. The worst of these is the front squat...like a fucking device of torture...but I still love it.
I also hate training any of my weak points, as I tend to push them too hard out of impatience.

You could try this little remedy: grab a triceps press-down bar and stick it between the parallel handles of a chest press machine. get a close grip, and see how it feels.
some hints for making it more effective:
1. use a bar that is shaped more like an ez-curl bar rather than a W, as a shallower bar makes cracking your sternum a bit harder (trust me, you will know if it's not gonna work)
2. Settle in on the close grip. It should feel natural and comfortable.
3. I am pretty sure you want to bow your triceps out, as keeping them parallel to your body will over-emphasize front delts.
4. try to find a machine press that has a foot-assist, as this will help you get situated and prepare for your set. It will also help you start more extended. This is kind of important if you are trying to emphasize only triceps. Otherwise, feel free to go deep. it is good for the inner chest to get a full range of movement.
5. Try to be comfortable and stable. Find a groove that works. If you want triceps, you may find you do a bit of a decline press. Pay close attention to your focus muscle.
I hope this is helpful. Please feel free to correct or expound.

I can't seem to get good pumps on skullcrushers and always blow out my forearms before I even touch my triceps. Same thing with incline dumbell movements, I blow out my forearms first. It may be my form, but I am ALWAYS striving for perfect form, that's why I love squats and deads.
No way!? I don't know how people can hate deadlifts! It's so fucking primal!

I did dumbbell rows the other day, as I have not done them in a while (I stuck to regular bb rows) and I had the most gnarly soreness I have ever had in my back. This is my new favorite back exercise next to deads!!

Try lifting straps. They take the effort of off your forearms and hands so you need to grip so tight. They are cheap 5-6 bucks a pair.

worst for me is seated flyes, because once those rear delts start burning it is hard as hell to maintain form

Couldn't agree more.
I love lifting, hate the cardio. I try to do cardio everyday...just enough so that when I haveto hit cardio hard, its not as dreadful....its always boring. Lifting is never boring.
pull ups are the only exercise i hate.
everything else bring it on!

I absolutely love squats but hate deadlifts.
I also hate rear delt db flyes, I know they are essential but hate them.

I'd have to agree with the majority that db rows are not something I look forward too...pitful thing is the gym I go to only has dumbbells to 80 which doesn't do me a whole lot of good, so I have to stick to barbell rows.
I'd have to say that incline leg press sux too...sumn about all that weight pressing down on your legs and putting tons of pressure on core...makes steady breathing pretty difficult.

Abs. Ive got to get past this i know. I do em, but hate it. I love squats, deads, rows...you know the staples. So gettin on the floor and curlin up in a ball doesnt excite me. Help this brother out. What do you animals do for abs? Peace.

BB rows-not that I hate them so much as they kill my lower back. Rather ironic since I am a Chiropractor. Guess we all have our limits.

Idiots who think they can bench a lot and really can't and have no back.
ass in the grass front squats are pretty wicked. def not for the faint of heart.

When I signed up to a gym about a year ago, I learned a few valuable lessons, only one pertained to training, the other was always, always read the fine print...
Grab an aerobics ball, and some plates from the bench press, cradle the plates to your chest, and plant your feet, knees bent at a 90 degree, and do situps. Do 10 or so, then extend your legs and do 10 more. Obviously you will substitute the amount of reps based on what you can do. But doing it on the ball gave me the most amazing feeling ive had in my core. Give it a shot, I hope it works for you.

My most hated would have to be shoulder flys. Im 6'3" and with long arms, its a killer trying to get the weight up like that. short guys have it easy there.

Try low weight calves and try to whip out 100 reps with very strict form. Those mother fuckers burn like the fires of hell. I had some explosive growth in them after I did that a few days.

I would say lunges but I don't do them anymore...i grew less and less motivated the longer I did them. So.............I'll say..............cardio...yeah.....cardio. I have so many predetermined heart beats before I die...it bugs me to use them on an exercise I hate.
I would have to say biceps too! I like to train heavy on everything but it dosent work well on bi's so they just don't get me fired-up.

chest: pullovers
back: deadlifts
biceps: barbell curls
triceps: one arm extensions
quads: hack squats
hamstrings: stiff leg deadlifts
calves: donkey calf raises
abs: swiss ball tuck-ins (lower abs)
I havent heard an animal hear mention cleans in any thread. I hate them but they build my traps and entire upper body like no other. I get more tired from them than anything else. But every exercise you hate you should do because it either means your weak there, or you need to learn to push harder. Also every exercise i used to hate i now love. So stick with em

I hate my discs for not allowing me to free squat and having to be careful on deads and rack pulls.
But as far as the lift I freaking hate the most, got to be lateral reaises.
Great for the delts, no real substitute......but the progression on them takes forever!

The one exercise i do not look forward to are hack squats. not the new pussy version, the old school one where you stand in front of a barbelland squat down, grab it, and hope you make it past rep 3. its like a deadlift but the bar is in back of you. sorta.

AMEN brotha, they get WAY to much attention. I do 3 sets bb curls after back day, thats all I have done for months and they are still growin.
Love deads. Really dislike squats but I still do em. Dam, squats - Is anything as painful and uncomfortable?

Goddamn do I love heavy squats. I will never get the same feeling of accomplishment that I get after squatting some serious fuckin' weight over any other workout, no matter how intense or amazing it may be.
Calves!

Yup same here.
Broke both my right ankle in high school and left ankle a couple years ago while in college. Both breaks were in the exact same spot for each ankle, which happens to be the small bone the runs right along side the tendon. Needless to say I get a lot of snaps crackles and pops and it is a 90% chance in my left ankle that ill develop arthritis when I grow older.
Needless to say when I do calves my ankles start burning before my calves do. But still need to do calves....although I hate them.

dumbbel lunges on a bench.... these are very difficult, especially if you have them in the high rep range like around 20 per leg.

I hate doing squats on a wobbly board, they're gay. And any excersise that personal trainers have people do with 5lb dumbells that does every excersise known to man in one move.

Anything related to Abs (hop on the bandwagon)...forearms...calves..
Calves! If you ain't geneticly gifted in this area it is hard as hell to get size on those damn things! I am capable of heavy weight on calf exercises, but I think I need a routine like Arnolds. The routine that made his calves grow was brutally heavy, but the amount of reps 12-15 was effective. If anyone has had trouble in this area, and has made drastic improvement please let me know your routine!

I'll start off by saying it sure is nice to see everyone have dislikes in this strange iron love-affair too.
I personally dislike anything quads related since a shattered right patella, a broken left foot 6 months later and recently a double inguinal hernia operation. But...life goes on and so do squats.
I cant stand working out traps I have shitty mind muscle connection there for some reason so I am always doing something different to mix it up but I still hate em
stretching after my workouts...i do about 15 - 20 mins of stretching and it just gets absolutely boring...there is no intensity and i just sit/stand there and stretch every muscle group 3 - 5 times each...its necessary but boring...good luck brothers

i wouldnt say that i hate any exercise, but there are some exercises which make it more difficult to achieve the desired pump..for example-- i have trouble getting a huge rear delt pump..however, ive recently found that drop sets work well, as well as heavy rowing..

I usually get pretty nasty. I do stairstepper for 5 minute intervals on my toes, at various angles, with 2 minutes of rest between. I started with 20 minutes and worked up. Then, when done with that, I did single-leg toe ups for 20 reps for as many sets as I could get, but no less than 10.
I did this on top of a very Arnold-esque calf workout (much lighter, of course) and threw on an inch in a matter of months.
You just have to be careful not to overdo it. If your tendons or joints hurt, back off for a few days.
