We all know how bad it is when you're dieting down and forced to eat bland food day in and day out. Here's to all the condiments and spices that have made dieting palatable... Mrs. Dash comes to mind. Feel free to add yours...

You are on it. The Mrs. is great. Especially now that it comes in multiple flavors.

Cavender's seasoning is good on everything. I love Butt Rub on steaks. Here's the link if you can't find it in your local food store:

ancho chile powder is incredible. sweet, smoky, a little spicy. mix it w/ garlic salt, cumin, and black pepper, and your chicken, fish, eggs, steak, whatever will be much better.

If you are eating chicken, mustard is GREAT and doesn't have any calories. Just a tiny bit of salt.

Some that I can think of offhand...
Mrs. Dash
Mustard... esp for chicken and on occasion I've used it on canned tuna.
Omega EFA Oil... to up my EFA intake but also to flavor tuna and greens.
Low Sodium Soy Sauce
Balsamic Vinegar
Lemon Juice
Splenda

That is a good call bro... Ancho chiles or chipotles are amazing especially with lime juice.

For me, personally I use hot sauce, cayenne, raw onion, salsa, pico de gallo (like Bear said), cajun or montreal spice rubs to meat, fish or chicken whenever I get a chance. Plus, Old Bay seasoning is wicked on any shellfish--what can I say, I'm from the Jersey shore.

Beyond those I always use splenda and cinnamon in my oatmeal. Has anybody used the Splenda brown sugar yet? Wicked. Peace, G

That stuff looks interesting i might have to pick me up some just becasue of the name. I like to use adobo on most foods even though it has quite abit of sodium it is good for bulking and anytime you dont need to cut your sodium intake.

It's not that hot, it just adds some kick to whatever you're eating and won't burn you out or give you the craps too bad. Go for tobasco or some of the other sauces that are hotter if you want a real kick.

see, I am insane. If I am feeling nice, I add pickled jalapeños, otherwise, it is a serrano or habanero pepper. After a while, it gets so hot you can't really taste much of anything. It is a great time!

Yeah boy that is what I'm talking about... I remember being a kid and watching my Pops, cousins and Uncle sit around the kitchen with towels around their shoulders sweating eating italian long hots with fresh bread. Dying and loving every minute of it. I used to think they were nuts but now I love that shit. Peace, G

When im cooking up some chilli or something, I throw in franks while I brown the beef, it takes all the heat and flavour (If you can find it, get their buffalo wing sauce) and puts it right in the beef. Then I use some Montreal Steak Spice, and lots of fresh garlic.

Mrs. Dash is my hero though, when your doing a steak, or burgers or something, give it a rub on right before you flip. It reminds you that we are men, and meat is our holy grail. You dont need to mask it with more condiments than you can name.

As for tobasco, I cant stand the stuff, its not a good heat. Franks is a flavourful heat, and it wont wreak havoc on you on the way out.

I love all the hot stuff, Franks Red Hot, Tabasco, Dinosaur BBQ's Devil's duel, along with cayenne powder, crushed red pepper, etc, etc. There are also a bunch of herbs and spices that are great to cook with when mixed with a little extra virgin olive oil.

every now and then when i'm home and can use my pops' money, i'll go get some sushi-grade tuna steaks. i'll marinate them in olive oil, lemon zest, dried lemon peel, fresh ginger, and fresh thyme. after they marinate, do 'em up tartar - get a SCREAMING hot pan, drop some olive oil in and sear the edges of it really well, then put the pan in the oven for 4-6 minutes on about 375. it'll bring 'em up to maybe rare. while they're in the oven, mix olive oil, lemon juice, fennel, dill, garlic, and egg whites to create a fennel-dill aioli. you can find a recipe for that shit online somewhere. it'll drizzle over the tuna and be fucking great. just a way to have a pseudo-cheat meal and enjoy a good fucking meal. i only do it about once every 4-5 months myself. haha. it goes well with wild rice and asparagus.

I kill one of the big bottles of Frank's Red Hot about every two weeks. Can't get enough of that shit to kill the flavor of dry tuna on extra fiber whole wheat. oh, and don't forget black pepper...pretty much everything I eat is covered in that as well. when you mix the two, it really gets the job done.

chili powder on my steak, thyme/basil combo on chicken. For bland ole' tuna and rice, you need some hot sauce and soy sauce. I really need to give this mrs dash a try it seems to get some damn good comments in here.
