I hate to sound green, but why do bodybuilders put there thumb between their first and middle finger when flexing Biceps? Almost all of the Pros I see in pics, are doing it like that. I have tried it myself and see no difference in contraction.
Who cares, you can put your thumb wherever your heart so desires when you're flexing
i agree with the guy above.

A good question...When the thumb is placed between the first and middle finger while the bicep(s) are flexed it makes the fist(s) look smaller, so the bicep looks bigger...funny but the true answer!
Try it yourself in front of a mirror...

Ant is right, the thumb goes between to create an illusion of a tiny fist.. Body building is FULL of illusions.. I take full advatage of all the secrets when I pose on stage.

Wow that is a cool tip Big Ant. If i ever go to a bodybuilding competition, and one day i just might i will use that tip. Thanks
Since a few people have commented on what a stupid question they thought it was, I thought I'd say that I have been wondering this for quite some time! So thanks for asking.

Its legit, may not be a life changing topic for anyone but its alot more interesting then the countless duplicate threads I have to sort through each day.
Have some respect and simply disregard posts that do not interest you.
Thanks,
Big Jawn
I will have to try this! Also Big Jawn is on point! Thanks brother!
Well, I already have tiny fists...so I wonder if this method will make my fists look even smaller! I am going to go try and then laugh..or cry at myself in the mirror!
The point of this forum is to be able to ask, research anything you want to in regards to bodybuilding, training. This thread was in the training section of the forum, so therefore, if you think it's a stupid question, then don't waste time answering it.

better to ask a «stupid» question here in relative anonymity than out in the real world where embarassment is high. if ya need an answer, ask the question.

Hey, ask anything here. I know I have asked my share of questions that some may have thought were kinda dumb, but so what. What you ask, surely someone else was thinking at some point.

Perhaps you should all trying asking questions of your own. I think a good one would be to ask if you are the only people in this world, because you are NOT. Obviously he is someone that cares and everyone that does it cares also. And if you dont want to be rude, then keep your mouth shut. This was a pretty good question.

Dude you need to start chilling out around here, seriously. None of us came close to thinking we're the only people here, we just didn't know there was a point to it, and we completely admitted that after we found out what BigAnt told us.

Questions like these are what teach me new things everyday. Thanks for the help. I will be sure to use it on my first show. Every little detail counts!

Ya dude like Nick said I didn't have any clue that it served as a illusion he didn't either the only one who said it was stupid was young_bb and I am sure he did not think it served a purpose. When i found out it was to make your hand look smaller i apologized for not knowing it served a purpose. We are all here to learn man so lay off us younger guys.

Fellas, the question has been asked and answered. What others have said bears repeating... If you don't know something, don't add your $0.02 just for sake of adding something... Sound good? So let's stop with the back and forth...
