I`m interested in some of the lifts the pros and Animals that attended in previous years completed, I know I can go through the whole forum searching but that will take an eternity.

I thought I`d start a thread here so people can post the lifts completed in the cage and what they are looking at hitting in 09

I know The Lad and SGT Rock have hit some unreal poundages and reps.

My best deads were 700 in dickies with no chalk, 725 Sumo with the hook grip at 220, and 750 conventional. Bent rows 425x5 reps and SLDL sumo with 550x5 no belt I believe? 750 is the biggest dead ever in the Cage. Andy Fiedler benched 600 or so raw at 275 and over 800 the same session. Hoornstra did over 600 as well. Squats I am unsure, Byrd hit a good raw squat and Powerfreak hit a 900 geared up I believe. No one has ever bencher over 850 and no one has squatted a grand yet to my memory. All the top numbers will change in 09, expect an 800 pull, well over a grand in the squat if Byrdman puts gear on, and a 650 or better raw bench by Jeremy, and many other record breaking lifts as well. I am sure Lad could put up a masters WR bench pretty much anytime he is healthy. What do you guys want to see?!!!

THe tentative plan is for Al, Lad and myself to workout the back together. Starting with deads at one plate, all the way to 8 plates to 765 for reps, and then we plan on hitting the 800 barrier, TOGETHER, mixing in several hook grip and raw sets up to geared up sets. Then onto stiff legs off a 100 plate with no belt hook grip totally raw with over 550, then onto bent rows raw off the plate with 4 plates and change for reps, then if they have heavy enough dbs we will do db shrugs and db rows, then some chins and then puke........anyone have any other suggestions they want to see, let us know as the three of us together is pure MAYHEM. YOu guys want to know how great an athlete Lad is? He is 44 years old, and isnt even a DL specialist, and I KNOW he will put up insane numbers in the pull....I dont even have to ask him.....great in ALL THREE LIFTS, and a close friend of mine as well, a nicer guy you will not find, go up and talk to him and see.

OH.....let me extend the back workout to one more of my close friends, this will put it over the edge though, we will need security to control the environment, a great friend of Lad and myself, you may have heard of him.....one of the original Animals..

Of all the times you have been to the cage Sgt. Rock, has Machine ever done any lifting? I heard he was been training for powerlifting/strongman. If he hasn't lifted there before, do you think he would?

No problem Sarge !!!! I did boards as I did not have my regular crew with me and I didn't want to take any unnecessary chances. I plan on going full range in '09

It'll be crazy, sick and a severely demented time in the Cage !!!

I`m 44 too, nowhere near or even close to The Lads lifts or size but he really gives me inspiration as does Vinny in my training.

Yes he has worked out in the cage before. If you want to see him train back with us, all you gotta do is ask him brother. Machine is not only someone I respect, but a friend as well. He and I go back to the original Cage days several years back when we first started featuring powerlifting as well. Machine used to be a powerlifter and still has awesome strength. Having him work out with us will bring up the intensity two fold just by his presence. Lets get him in on it, I am getting excited already.

I`d like to see the Bench, Squat and Deadlift obviously but Bent rows would be good, 1 hand deads maybe? Standing Military Press?

Sgt Rock
11-12-08, 11:52 pm
We have to really keep to the big 3, with bent rows being an exception. Squats benches and dls are what us Powerlifting Pros excel at. I agree with Sanga we can throw some heavy rows in for sure, I did that one year with great fan response.

A big lift from a deficit would be nice to see. Big lifts are hard already, but adding a deficit (lets say 3-4 inch) would add some real mental challenge for the big guys i think.

Ok guys...its on! Worlds is wrapped up, im almost healed up. I have written a NICE 14 weeker in prep for the CAGE. I start back pulling again on Sunday. Winning the worlds was awesome, but pulling 800 in front of you guys will be like being a true ROCKANDROLLA!

I have seen that kind of reps done by an amateur bb at a previous gym, 30 with 405, but WITHOUT knee wraps OR a belt!
If done with just a built it is still impressive!

I never went that high with reps in the squat, I know there are guys at my gym that can do it surely with knee wraps, but with just a belt thats an AWESOME lift!

There used to be a guy at my gym a few years back that did nothing but squat, deadlift and Dips, all as heavy as possible but with minimum reps of 20, I used to love watching him especially on the squat.
