Yes, train them. Your abs arent there for looks, so it doesnt matter if you cant see them. If they get stronger, your big compound lifts will also get stronger (bench, squat, and deadlift).

Train them as you would any other muscle. If you're going for power, heavy weight, low reps.

Do an exercise or two for each section of your abs (obliques, upper, lower). I'd focus on getting them stronger, not the looks, until you're heading for the stage.

Hit abs anywhere from 2-4x/week. I usually do a triset, something like this:

Hangin Knee Raises - 10-15reps
Ab Machine - 10-15 reps
Rope Crunches - 10-15reps

Do that triset for 3 total sets.

Lying leg raises would be a perfect alternative. Either lie on a bench, with your legs hangin off, and raise your legs up 6-8 inches and back down, or you can lie on the ground and do the same, w/e's easier for you.

Yeah man, I picked up the routine from MD magazine. It was an article titled 'The 6 best ab exercises". It said to choose 3 and tri-set it, so its what I did. Works great too.

Looks solid might have to use that!

Its the best 'scheme' for abs I've ever used, and I've tried everything! I usually do bodyweight starting off with the leg raises, and I add weight with each of the last 2 sets. I've found out that I need to add weight to my ab exercises to make 'em grow. For a while I was doing all bodyweight movements, like crunches, and leg raises with no weight. Years were waisted
