Terrible day yesterday
- softball games went late Tuesday night, didn't get in/settled until after 12
- slept horribly; woke up every 90minutes all night
- appetite was horrendous all day yesterday
- felt 'out of it' all day yesterday
- due to a meeting and considering it took me nearly 30min to put down my meal, I decided to drive home to TRF for both a change of pace and to allow digestion time
- usual bullshit traffic + Memorial Day Weekend @ the Jersey Shore = i'll kill people
- felt good hitting that 250x10, but then realized I did a SOLID tweak on my right shoulder. Shit hurts to even raise up my arm right now. Terrific. Taking it day-to-day and see how it all goes down. No way I'll be able to Military Press tomorrow, so we'll see.

Maybe you got an impingement somewhere on your upper body.

I wanted to do this last night, but totally forget. Went to be early. I was feeling totally run down. The extra sleep paid off. I feel great. Shoulder isn't as bad as it was yesterday, so that's a good thing. Still tender, but much more range of motion and much less pain. Gonna try that softball trick tonight.

I'm sticking with the diet, tweaking it a bit more and more as time goes on. I'm going to run a 2nd can of Cuts, which starts tomorrow. Another 3 weeks of dieting down. I had great progress with the Cuts+diet, without the implementation of cardio, aside from a brief 2mile run 3-4x/week. For the final 3 weeks, I'm going to add in post-WO cardio 4x/week for 30minutes to add in that extra push. We'll see what happens. Then my friend ... then the fun begins.

THEN, i meet you for some 99 beer club and burgers on sundays? (cheat days)

It sounds weird but i totally agree on the different gym part. Some guys talk about it being superstitious or some shit but it does have an effect on your gym regimen. It took me a while with the ABC's to get used to going to different gyms. I didn't feel comfortable for a while and didn't get the best out of it until like my 3rd one. But having the "home-ice" advantage definitely goes a long way.

Hey A, hows that shoulder? definitely get some foam rollin goin or some light massage to loosen up those muscles. everything looks solid though, 5/3/1 = more n more weight, and you are leaning up at the sametime, nice results, this hardwork stuff pays off!

Yeah ABCs are a great time, but its hard to get a 'typical' workout in, as you're busy conversing with everyone and using different equipment. Having a 'decent' workout instead of a 'great' one is something that I can deal with when doing to ABCs, for sure.

Toms River Fitness used to be, and I thought still WAS a 'home-ice' situation. When I went on the regular, it was always around 8pm when the crowds were gone and the 'heavy players' were in attendance. Last week I popped in at 6pm, when it was jam packed with the typical 9-5'ers. I'll be hitting it up again tonight as well, as I have an appointment down there around 6. So I'll be hitting it at the 'good' time. Rock on.

Yup. The 5/3/1 while dieting down was going well. This final wave, due to the heavier weight and dieting has been a bit rough, but ya gotta keep truckin'. Shoulder is feeling much better, but it's slightly tweaked. Taking it day by day.

Thanks, J-Dawg. After a leg session, I'll have a full serving of Torrent. Every other day for post-WO, I'll have 2 scoops of Ultra Iso Whey and 1 scoop of Unflavored CARB Max. You need those extra carbs on heavy leg days, for sure.

- b/c of the shoulder tweak from last week, I took it real slow last night. I warmed up thoroughly, doing abs first to get a sweat and even wearing a long sleeve thermal to stay warm. Hit extra warm ups and did each rep of each set real slow, with a brief pause at the bottom. Hit 265 for 4 VERY EASY reps, but didn't want to push it. I just wanted to hit the target reps. Shoulder doesn't feel better, nor does it feel worse; pretty much the same as it did preWO, so I'm happy. Was it smart to hit chest again after the tweak last week? Probably not. But I never said I was a smart man, haha.

I've been around the block too many times to not know when to back off. In all seriousness, I should have backed off another week. I went in there with the intention to test the waters with light weight and everything seemed OK. No significant pains. I took it easy, hit the reps and finished strong. niCe. Squats tonight. No excuses here. Ain't no shoulder injury stopping me from sinking down into the hole. Bring it.

Eh, I was hoping for more. The dieting is finally starting to catch up with my in terms of strength. I was only 'bulking' for the first wave of the 5/3/1. As I diet down, I'm still gaining some strength, but I can only imagine the damage I can do with this program once I'm full blown bulking again.

*went light again due to the shoulder. Shoulder injuries blow, as they hinder pretty much all upper body exercises. Went light on the barbell presses just to feel it out. A little tightness post-set, but all in all, not too bad. I think I'll give it a full week's break from pressing next week to allow it to fully heal. Can't press my luck too much

*NG hinted at this new Diesel Gym, so I had to hit it up. Another diamond in the rough. A small, no nonsense gym where the main dude rocks a 'Shut Up and Train' shirt. niCe. Gonna hit this place up more often, for sure. Its got all the necessary equipment .. if you're a 'no frills' kinda guy ;-)

Today is a carb load/refeed day. Rejoice. After 5 days of barely any carbs, I'm feeling drained, tired, and weak. I'll be heavily occupied this weekend, so eating heaps of carbs won't be possible. So today, I'll reload. During these loads, I keep it clean, but its not 'contest prep' clean. Last night I took a gander in the fridge and found some delightful leftovers that I scooped up. I can't wait to eat ..

meal 1; 10oz egg whites, 1c oats, bowl of mixed fruit
meal 2; 8oz chicken, 1c rice (some light yellow-ish color), 4oz broccoli
meal 3; 8oz red meat, 3 pierogis, baked beans (god bless MDW BBQ's)

Meal 3 will be glorious. Seven weeks into the diet, I'm down 8lbs (212 --> 204). I'm right where I want to be. Slow and steady. Looking lean. Compliments of my face appearing leaner came about last night. Real-world results. One more week and then its grow-time.

Hell yeah they are, haha. Yeah coming down nice and slow is what I wanted to do, and its going just fine. Strength is dipping a bit in this last 5/3/1 wave, but that's to be expected. When hitting a normal training routine, you don't notice it as much, but when you're trying to hit new PRs everyday, it becomes more evident. As long as I'm still hitting my minimal numbers, its progress in my book.

* Today should be chestx1+. However I am going to forgo any type of pressing this week. I benched the x3 last week for 4 reps and felt OK, and then tried light weight BB presses for shoulders on Thursday. Although it didn't get any worse, it didn't get any better either. The shoulder feels MUCH better today, so instead of pressing my luck, I'm going to hit some flies and maybe DB pullovers to flush some blood in there. Next week, depending on my status, I'll hit the 'x1' week for bench.
* I'll only be doing the squats and deadlift portion of the 5/3/1, for reasons mentioned above. For the rest of the week, I'll slowly be bringing myself back into the high volume training. I'll run some light chest and then biceps tonight. Tomorrow; squats x1. Wednesday will be some triceps and light raises for shoulders. Friday; deadlifts. Next week will be a deload/reintroduction to high-volume. June 21 will start high volume training again.
*This is my final week of Cuts. Its been 5+ weeks right now. I'm down ~9lbs; perfect. Looking lean, vascular, feeling good. Next week I'll outline my new diet, which will be very similar to what it is now while adding a larger amount of carbs. I have a few things in mind to really jack up the muscle building process. Even though this 8 week diet wasn't a 'contest diet', it still served its purpose and there will definitely be a slight 'rebound effect' that I plan on taking FULL advantage of.

Everything is good, my man. Been extremely busy lately. Had to travel both Saturday/Sunday for something that went 9-5 both days, so I'm basically commuting/working 12 straight days. I can't wait for this weekend. Other than that, I'm just slowly getting back into high volume training. Did a bit last night and it felt great.

I've thought about it. Apollon and World's; only a 2 mile difference between the two when leaving my office. My membership at Apollon ends this week. I've talked to Enforcer about hitting up World's for a month to see how it is. But I'm really loving Apollon right now. We'll see what happens. Chest and biceps, believe it or not, represent my weak body parts. So I hit them together after 2 full rest days. I hit triceps after shoulders. I've been doing it for about 6 months now and like it. My triceps are well developed, so I can take a bit of a 'hit' when training them directly after shoulders.

Fuck no, lol. I'm on the last few days of Cuts and then its game-time for growth. I'm not attempting to get 'stage-ready', but I definitely wanted to shed some unnecessary weight. Now I'll take advantage of the little rebound window and build up from the solid stage I'm in right now, and stay lean while adding quality LB's to the frame. Not concerned with the scale, just overall quality mass.

I've been going low-carb for a few weeks now. Low-carb is the only way to go .. for ME. I know this. I look at carbs and my waist grows, lol. Right now I'm only implementing carbs at 3 times; breakfast, pre/postWO. When I start my bulk, I'll be doing the same, just adding a helluva lot more carbs; loading up at those 3 critical times. As for the other meals, high/higher protein and fats. Should be great ...

Yup. Its a little tight now after the DOMS, I'm assuming. When I'm hitting the weights, I'm basically pain free. The 'pain' just settles in a bit a day after, but its not even noticeable unless I move it in a certain way. I'll be Ok..

Here's the diet I'll be consuming today. For now, I'll still be utilizing carbs at 3 meals only; breakfast, pre/postWO. For the other meals, I'll be adding in some healthy fats. Since I'm not training today, the carb meals with be meals 1 and 2. On training days, carbs will be meals 1, 4, and 5 (Torrent).

Yeah, no point in having a carb meal later in the day if you're not training. And I'll be rocking regular Torrent. At this point, its about bulking up, so TZ is not necessary!

That's a bad ass gym. The outside reminds me of App State... You will pull that 500 in no time. It took me a long time to get the motion of pulling with my legs more versus my back. Add on some increased work to my hamstrings and I was doing more "efficient" pulling than I think I ever have before. You got this.

Sorry? Nah, I'm not, dude. It will come. I was a little pissed on the first failed attempt, but then that guy was talking to me about it. He told I'm easily strong enough, but I just need to work on form; driving with the legs. He had me doing some accessory work afterward.

Yeah I'm not concerned with the 500. I was pissed that day, but w/e. It'll come. Can't be too upset after spending 8 weeks dieting down, dropping 10lbs+ and expecting to pull a PR on deads, haha.

Golf was a great time. A nice father-son action. I shot a 105 (haha). My one thing is I can't drive worth a shit. I'll tee-off and hit the ball 10-20yds. I keep topping the ball. But then I'll bust out my 3-iron and rock that shit right down the middle. My iron game is tight, my putting is average. But I lose a stroke with every drive; its a wasted shot. On the last few holes, I tried something different and it seemed to work. On hole 18, I drove the ball so far/so straight that it ended up in the water; a water hazard that I never thought I'd be able to reach, haha. We'll see. I gotta get out there more often. It was the first time playing in 2 years.

I've done it before, haha. I just really want to hone my skills in all areas instead of avoiding something I'm not good at. With some practice and consistent playing, I'll be fine. But there have been times where I've busted out my 3-iron on a par 5. I end up getting a better score on that hole, haha.

We eat well, my friend. There's so much to go around. And everything is delicious, whether its a fine Italian dinner or a 3am cheesesteak after a few brews, lol.

And my post-postWO meal on leg days contains carbs as well, usually 1/2c white rice. I'm easing back into it and gaining quality weight this time. I ran it at one pack per day for 6 weeks about a year ago and had great results; 10lbs in 6 weeks. Diet played a role as well, but damn. Can't wait to see what this brings on.

Can't say I feel your pain, brother. If my legs were dead-on and I was instructed to stay away from leg day, I'd be a happy mother fucker! I always hate the drive to the gym on leg day. Its a love-hate relationship. I don't want to start them, but once I get into the workout, I love every second of it. Then the switch flips back to 'hate' once I settle into my commute home, haha.

I've switched gears about 2 weeks ago, from trimming up to lean mass building. So I've switched from a lighter shake to Torrent once again. Torrent will be the mainstay from here on out. Random circumstances such as Saturday; trained with a best friend who doesn't lift, different gym, different time, etc., we just saw a deli and stopped in. I made sure to get some quick carbs; gatorade and a white roll, along with some turkey piled high.

Its hard to say right now. The volume was very low with the 5/3/1, so its going to take some time for my body to build the stamina back up to support the higher volume. Once that happens, I definitely feel that my strength will be higher than it was pre-5/3/1.

No training last night. I had softball. Not much to brag about, as I've been terrible at the plate, that is until the 2nd game last night, where I proceeded to jack a grand slam to dead center field. Shit, the ball was still on its way up as it went over the fence. Game 2 pinned up 5 RBI's for Aggression. Not bad.

Training with Enforcer tonight over at World's Gym. We're attacking shoulders together and then I'll finish up with some triceps. Dun Dun Dunnnnnn

Weighed in at 206.0lbs this morning; 1.6lb increase in a week's time; progress.

I love incline/decline presses. I watched a video with Dorian Yates and he stated that he used a lot of decline movements as well as incline, yet didn't focus too much on the bench press. I love DB Preses and HS presses for 'flat', but the flat barbell is something I rarely use; I just don't feel it.
