Powerlifter.
"Oh...you mean like a weightlifter, where you do all that twirly clean and pull shit?"
"No"
"Then you must flex on stage and stuff right? Get oiled up and all that?"
"No"
"Then...what are you?"
If each of us had to count the amount of times we've been asked just what powerlifting is, we'd be clear out of digits. It takes a strong person to be completely dedicated to a sport, and an even stronger person to be dedicated to a sport like ours. A sport the general population isn't even aware of, but we are not the general population.
We're in this for the strength, the adrenal rush we get moving big weights, the looks we get for being the biggest stongest motherfuckers out there.
We're in this for the power, the iron lust...with Animal instinct we hunt the weight day in, day out. The power gets inside and forces us into this game head first, it leads us in progressing this sport and pushing it's limits.
It's the era of power...so jump on the bandwaggon...we're going on a Power Trip.
Welcome.

im glad our sport isnt mainstream. its our own iron brotherhood.
yea, I"m in on this wild ride
The first day I had class the professor asked what we like to do. And I was like I like to llift, and he responded with oh yea whats your favorite exercise? I followed with deadlifts. We described a clean and press and thought thats what it was, I told him no, it's simply picking up a large amount of weight from the floor and standing up. He still didnt get it.

We are a special type of Animal.
We push every part of our body wayyyyyyy past the point where a normal person would say "f--k it".
Always trying to pick up something heavier than the last time...
I love it.
Count me in brothers. i am in this for the long haul. right next to rev pullin this beast of a wagon.

The power was in me yesterday...
I had a great day lifting & feel like a million bucks this morning.
Ready to rip-shit and tear-ass again today!
A place for power.
One day I would love to own a gym where chalk is sacred; where chains hang from the walls like ox yokes; where squat racks outnumber medicine balls; where the reverse hyper extension machine is a call to arms; where signs point to the cardio room "EXIT";where the dumbells begin at 100; where conquests of the Brotherhood are chronicled upon the walls, and where power is King and his lords measure their success in 45s.
I have been on the trip.
Peace

i want to be there as well...if you find such a place...im fucking moving.
haha Nice post Big Jawn. I dunno, my ultimate goal is still BB, but I've started workin my ass off to get my numbers up recently and it's pretty addicting, I've also gotta keep strength for wrestling next year in mind so I'll probably stick to strength training for a while. Who knows, maybe if I find some meets in the future I'll do a little competing for powerlifting
i have done a few powerlifting competitions in my time...lots of energy, lots of yelling....i was really happy to do as well as i did for my class.

We're in Bethlehem, PA, near Allentown. May be a few years down the road, but it will definitely happen. We train at Nazareth Barbell in Nazareth, PA right now and it is very powerlifter friendly.

I love powerlifting, you don't have to be striated or symmetric and you move heavy shit. I don't have to work on my tan or posing routine to be good, just form and balls out training.

Once again I had the POWER in me yesterday...
Attacked the bench & then went to the power rack for rack deads.
Sparks were flying, sweat was running and the neighbors were trying to get their little kids & dogs out from under their beds from all the commotion at Big Rich's gym.

I totally respect you PLers, and I just wanted to say that i think its a crying shame that the most of the gyms do not accept the way you guys train. Hell, ive seen gym managers approach guys and say, "youre too loud" or "dont drop the weights" (gotta love that one) thats just fuckin bullshit!!
Thank god the gym I train at in vegas has a SEPERATE CAGE for you guys, I love watching thesse guys move all that weight, well, that is when im not looking in the mirror critiquing myself, lol.
There really needs to be a change at these gym to accomodate you guys.
YOU ROCK
