OK, so I've noticed a large percentage of the Animals in here are in their early 20's or younger. Congrats on choosing the Animal Lifestyle!

I've also noticed a few 'Mature' lifters in here....Props to you guys all the way!

BUT...here's the Q...

When is it too late to START the Animal Life?

Injury IS an issue right?

Please post here if you have any comments that aren't covered in the poll.

yea... it really doesn't matter when you start...

although I am really surprised about the amount of early teens that are here... the 14-16...

I know I'm only 21, but that's awfully young to start this type of training... I've always weight trained since freshman year in high school, but it was to prevent injurys in sports and to gain overall strength..

and there is no way I would/could see the gains that I am getting now back in high school just cause my body was still growing...

As previously stated, only when you're dead. I started lifting at the tender age of 47, although I would have to admit the first 6-12 months were anything but "animal".
I became an animal in the gym after I grew weary of everyone telling me that I was wasting my time-ie- "you're too old, you'll never grow". That was when I turned on the heat and became a serious lifter.( an animal,so to speak).
In the last 3 years I've gained 20 pounds of lean mass and decreased my body fat to 6%.Still people insist I'm wasting my time.
Whatever.

Never too late. It's a mindset that feeds into the lifestyle. As awesomely stated, death would be too late. Peace.

It's never too late, I'll be 33 and still going strong, I use to lift with a guy that was 65, and I seen him pull 405.

i didn't get serious until 34 years old. body's a little crankier now than when i lifted in my 20's (nothin g serious) but still good to go. i figure 5-8 years hard work, and someday i will compete as a amateur in a masters class somewhere.

Till Death do us Part bro's! I'll admit, I'm a bit young as well as I'm turning 19 tomorrow, and it does seem that many of us in this brotherhood of Iron are in their early 20's and younger, it don't mean that it's ever too late to become an Animal! Always stay injury conscious and listen to your body, and as long as your body is alright, press on! Whether your 25 or 65! "Till Death Do Us Part!"

Hey besides, how much would you love it to be at the younge age of 50 or so and be huge enough to keep all the boys in line that are goin after your daughters and grand-daughters! All because you decided to start lifting and living like an Animal at 35 or 45! YOU KNOW you'd LOVE it, and never look back! Because you arent the guy joining all the other people who are having back and other physical issues since your active and moving foreward, not backwards and just settling for what you've got!

hey, if i got 40 year old privates graduating basic, then anybody with the drive and intelligence AND SUPPORT can do anything they set their minds to. I think ,regardless of age, if you got a good group of people around you anything is possible. if anybody feels a lack of support, come join in here.

It's good if you never quit.
It's ok if you have to quit.
It's bad if you never return.

Never underestimate the older Animal. He may not always have it, but chances are he's seen it, done it, had it & damn likely he can still bust his balls to get it back. So don't blow off the 'old guy'.

as you can see from my info..Im 53....tool a 23 year lay off from lifting...family...mairrage....work...then last July...took my life into my own hands...desided to promote myself..and claim my life back...and got back to body building...and now..the animal livestyle...and I love it. I do a split routene....consistant....train like a fucker on a mission. I promoted the k1 events....the fighters...even my son did a k1...and I was there for everyone...and now...its about me and my new love in my life...a wonderful woman that gave me the reason...at least one ofthe reasons and drive to take my health back...and now at 53...lost 6 inches around the waist...lowered the colesterol by a huge margin....went from 191 to 165 then back to 183..but good weight...and got my diet down...and my suppliments on the mark...its all good...and to answer you question....its fucking never too late...just be careful...dont try to kill youself too soon...When I get to the gym....eveyone knows Im there for the run..for battle..for some serious training...its my ring....Im ready to hit it and hit it hard. I like people asking me how old I am...and seeing them shit when I show them my ID to prove Im really 53. Brother...you are in the right place at the right time....look here...its friggen 4.48 am here in N Cal...and Im just getting ready for my 6 am battle...cant wait....its all ready giving me a pump thinking about what I will do in the gym....I love this shit bro...and its keeping me alive..strong and able to keep up with someone half my age.....and so it goes!!!

Age is only a number.

Age is just another arbitrary limitation we can use to bullshit ourselves into thinking that it is OK to be less than our best. With each new day comes the potential to make the most of our gifts, whether we are 18 or 98. Peace, G

I didn't get back into it until 36. Iv'e been back, lifting hard for 2yrs now. My only issue so far is my recovery time. Takes a little longer to heal, but that is the price I pay. I don't ever intend on competing on stage, just w/father time. LOL

I didn't start lifting at all until I was 27, not seriously until 30. You're never too late to start training like an animal.

agree with all -- age is that label that we attach to ourselves that represents time served. it starts over when you start with animal.

Man, if you want it you are NEVER, NEVER too late to start, read up study, and pay even more strict attention to your form, you jsut need to WANT it for yourself, and not worry about how ol other people think is too old, if you WANT it, GET it, its as simple as that, it is synonymous with ANIMAL
