Hope this was a good place to post this.
I had been lifting real hardcore for 12 months straight and knew I was kind of overdoing it but I was more focused on my shoulder at the time due to a twice week chest press routine I was doing. Anyway 4 weeks ago my wrist started hurting a little but only in "holding a glass of water position" so hammer curls were out. It then got worse and included all DB holds! Pretty soon I couldn't even press or sling plates. So I took 2 weeks off thinking it would go away on it's own, but it didn't. 3 weeks in I hit the Doc's and he says I have deQuervains tendonitis. Check this link http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/brochure/thr_report.cfm?Thread_ID=52. So I am saying this because I should've went in right away and save a month off and now I have approx. 2 weeks to recovery, wear a brace and have another pill to swallow. So if you get a wrist pain doc says try ice even if it's not swollen because it might be inside and not out like in my case where it's just a swollen tendon. I like to learn from others mistakes so I thought I'd drop mine here and maybe help someone else out as well.

Heck yeah! I got stupid tendonitis crap and tennis elbow but despite what others say: I continue what I love most and choose to yes...swallow another pill. Sorry to hear that though bro >>

I had the same problem once, only it was from playing baseball. I knew something was up with my wrist and i went to the trainer a couple times but she didn't tell me much of anything, and i later found out that my coach thought i was making it up...because i was fighting for a position on the team i kept playing and all. About a week or so after seeing the trainer the problem actualy got so bad that when i moved my wrist it squeeked like a rusty hinge on a door. Yea, making it up, right? anyway time is the only thing that will allow it to return to normal. Once it heals try tapeing your wrists before training and doing a couple extra warm upsets, this should really help with preventing it from comming back.

I really appreciate the support guys! Sorry to hear I am not the only one to deal with this. I know now if I hadn't tried pushing through the injury I wouldn't be out this long but you live and you learn. I was smart enough to search out the advice of those with shoulder/chest injuries and get some great shoulder exercises to preven these from them so it figures I hurt my wrist instead! Stupid how debilitating something so small can be. My doctor was the same way Butcher, I had to stop him from running out to get the details on how I did it and how not to do it again so I wouldn't be back for the right hand! I'm sure he was hoping not to give me the info for another charge. We need to find a family doctor who lifts! Hey "overcome25" did the tennise elbow take you out of commish from lifting?

Anyway, I knew the Animal forum would kick ass and bring the brotherhood to one place. I'll be putting the support to good use in the gym guys, next lifts to you!
