Gawd, I LOOOVE my 24hr Fitness... Everytime I'm in a bad mood, I just have to goto the gym, bust my ass, and laugh at the "hardcore" gang there.
Soo, I was bustin my balls doing my DB Presses, when I hear this loud-as-thunder grunt coming from the Leg Press... Keep in mind, i have my headphones on w/ my music blaring.
I look over and see two guys.. one standing, waiting his turn, and his buddy in the seat... The leg press is loaded up w/ at LEAST 10 plates on each side. These guys aren't big, but i'm thinking, "Maybe they're just strong."
I watch hardcore #1 unrack the weight, and lower the weight about 4" before pushing it back up and going for another rep, while hardcore #2 is like "yeah! get that shit up!" for each of his 5 reps (i counted). Of course each rep is accompanied by a loud scream... Then, after his reps, he gets up, and does the *i'm crazy* smack to his head a few times... and grunts again...
I Laughed SOOOO hard, i couldn't help it... I'm standing there looking at them, trying to contain myself, but i just didn't have it in me to suppress it, and i was laughing so hard i couldn't breathe!
I could tell the guy was pissed... Not like he could have done anything to me, but damn... I would have felt like an asshole, but a couple other people who actually train hardcore, were laughing as well, and giving me the "we know" look...
Anyways, after 30mins (i'm done w/ my workout btw) I look over at them again before leaving.. and the guy is smacking his head again, and grunting... Then he walks over to the smith, gets under it, and squats a whopping 150-160... at least those were ass-to-the-grass!
Thought you might enjoy that =)

Why you gotta openly laugh at people in the gym bro? I mean yeah we all cringe a little when we see people doing a 1/4 range of motion leg press or squat. But if you not gonna go and tell them WHAT they are doing wrong don't fucking laugh at them. Keep your head down, and focus on your own shit.

I missed it too.
Worry about your own shit in the gym. If you're not going to offer them advice then just keep your mouth shut and train.
Somehow most lifters seem to think that they all started out knowing everything there was to know about weightlifting. Truth of the matter is though that most of us were "that guy" before we did some research or hooked up with some good lifters.

I work out at Gold's so I see this shit all the time. I think it;s funny when they see me do half their weight but I look 10x better. You would think that they would change their workout. Pride goes before the fall.

I agree. "Not like he could do anything anyway"...Honestly, be careful. Im a high ranking martial artist, and i know a lot of other people that are also, thing is they all look like everyday normal people. So be careful who you openly laugh at.

I've seen these guys before... actually quite a few times... they're NOT new to lifting...
first of all, i could give a shit less about their form... whats funny is how the guy was acting... and how he was just trying to show everyone how "hardcore/badass" he is by his stupid actions, and loading the press with waaaaay too much weight...
Don't give me crap about how i think its funny.. you would too.. don't act like just cuz you're on the animal forum, and you're "animal" that you're all of a sudden so damn hardcore that you don't give a fuck about anything else but yourself... thats just stupid.
And no, i don't even talk to anyone at the gym, unless they come up to me, or they're a newbie needing help.. which i do frequently help, because I dont like kids hurting themselves..
these guys are not newbs... they were just a couple jackasses trying to impress the girls with their loud screams and less than halfass reps.
jeez, lighten up =)

We all see people doing dumb things and trying to show off. It is funny but we should try and keep some respect in the gym. Their are already to many ****** bags walking around in the gym don't become one of them. Some people are just uneducated and you can see the results from it as you stated.

LOL.. i give up...
the whole fun of the story was the screaming and smacking their heads...
don't have to be educated to realize you look like a dumbass screaming your head off and causing brain damage by smacking your head like a madman...

Dude I can understand why you laughed. I usually try and keep to myself at the gym but sometimes it just gets to be a little too much to handle and you just have to laugh. I've had to run to the locker room before so that guys like that wouldn't see me laughing at them.
