View Full Version : Wake Up at the Middle of the Night…
I usually wake up naturally to Pii, I take the chance to put down 4 liver tabs with a glass of water, If I don’t wake up naturally I sleep the eight hours straight...
I usually wake up 1-2 times per night... Usually to take a piss. I hate waking up at night b/c it takes me awhile to fall back asleep. Then when I finally fall asleep, next thing I know it's time to wake up and I'm already behind on sleep. Gotta cut back on the caffeine but then again I need that to wake up. Vicious cycle.

i have a seperate alarm to wake me up at 330 to eat some chicken and eggs

Ouch.. Usually I'm up till about 2 because I work till around 10-12. I have to fit in a couple meals and a couple snacks before I go to bed. Usually I will get up around 9-11 depending on when I went to bed. Now I'm searching for naps throughout the day. Sucks not being able to get enough sleep when your biological clock is all out of whack. I never eat when I get up in the middle of the night, can't risk the sleep. Since I've been taking ZMA I wake up STARVING like I haven't eaten in days. It's a weird feeling, kind of like the night after a vicious cheat meal.

I try to drink at least a gallon and a half of water a day, that water has to go somewhere. Before I go to bed I get a protein shake made up and put it by my sink in my bathroom. When I wake up to drain the main vein, I down the protein shake and go back to bed.

I used to wake up Like clock work at 2am but since I have been takin the ZMA......I have been sleepin till 4am which is the time I get up to do my hour cardio.
It depends... If I naturally wake up, I'll 2 servings of cassein protein powder and some glutamine, and then hit the pillows again. But other than that, I usually don't wake up to eat.
Whenever i get up at night it takes me forever to fall asleep again :S

Sounds exactly like me. Last night the fire alarm starting beeping (low on batteries). Between me being pissed at having to get up, cussing the hell out of the alarm and replacing the batteries in both alarms... I think I was up for another 2 hours just trying to fall asleep. All this after being dog tired from the weekend. Shit all I want is a good straight 8 hours. Haven't had that in about half a year. Is that too much to ask for? Hell, if I were to have a meal in the middle of the night, I might as well just drive to work and start the day.
With my crazy fast metabolism I found it very beneficial for me to wake up and eat something.
I go to bed at 10:30pm with eating at about 10:00
Wake up at 4:27am (hmm where did I get that time from? :P ) and down a shake.
I fall back asleep quickly...
And then up at 7:30 to start my day...First thing I do is down some BCAAs.
It sucks to wake up in the middle of the night and fight yourself back to sleep. I will have a small meal-snack, try reading a magazine/book, and eventually I fall back to sleep.

My metabolism has just been rocking lately, so a lot of times I will wake up in the middle of the night hungary. I go grab some peanut butter, toast and a glass of milk and im good till morning.
Like above ZMA is your friend and if you take it and naturally wake up to p then throw down can of tuna and you will sleep til morning. I will usully take some fish oil and a multi at that time also, never hurts.
I always have a protein shake ready by my bed usually around 2 or 3 i wake up and take it.

My body needs rest. Especially after a particularly hard training day. I don't usually wake up long enough to decide if I should eat. I barely wake up to the alarm! It depends on goals, diet and metabolism. Know yours or self destruct!!!

I normally don't wake up in the middle of the night at all, but then if i ever find myself to, I go and drink 2 cups of water and then head back to bed since i need to wake up at 5am in the morning to get ready for work.
I wake up naturally at least once to p, but for a month or so i would drink a homemade gainer (oats,whey,milk, pnut butter) at about 2-3 am. I wake up at 5:30 for school and I was surprisingly full when i woke up, so i couldnt eat as big of a breakfast. Now i just drink my shakes before bed.
I also tried this. Would wake up, alarm, and drink a high protein mixture. I could not fall asleep after though. I tried it at first when it was cold and thought that might be the problem. I then tried it at room temperature and same result.
I just gave it up, good sleep is much more valuable than another meal in the middle of the night.

the sleep is too important. WIth my high water intake, I pee twice at night and three times at school. THe difficulty of being a teacher is that you only have certain times you can use the bathroom. I teach on a daily basis bouncing waiting to go to the bathroom.

Every single night I can't not wake up at least once if not twice to pee.
Even with Advil PM/"sleepy tea"
Does staying up till 2am doing homework then grabbing some sloppy joes before bed count? Leftovers are as good now as ever.

Up every hour on the hour, prostate probably the size of a football. Have to have that damn thing removed..lol

I wake up 2-3 times during the night... my sleep is messed up. What sucks worse is i NEVER get more than 5hours in a night.
I eat everytime i wake up though. lol I'm always hungry for some reason lately. My metabolism is NOT the greatest, but my stomach is empty and i've got bad hunger pangs.
Try waking up at some multiple of 1.5 hours and leave yourself enough time to eat, and go back to sleep for another multiple of 1.5 hours. This works for me.

If I had my way, I'd sleep no less than 10 hours a night without interruption. I mean I love to eat and everything, but I love my sleep more. I feel so much better at the gym when I rest up, as opposed to eating anything in the middle of the night. So I only do so if I'm starving.
what product do you guys use to get your zma?

and melatonin...not only do you sleep better but your dreams are vivid as they get... crazy too. i got my roommate hooked on them just for the dreams. haha
and i use BEV INT for my ZMA its what ive always used. i dont see a point in changing now if it works. i believe most brands are about the same.
I work 11:00 -7:30 m-f . I get home I throw down a shake sleep three hours a day I can not help it if I wanted to. I eat 8 meals.

I usually wake up in the middle of the night but i wouldnt eat because iam still full from all the food i ate that damn day. I dont how some of you guys do it eat and go back to sleep in the middle of the night. I cant fall asleep if i eat.

I usually keep a shake in the bathroom for when I get up in the middle of the night. If I do, I'll knock back the shake, take a piss, and head back to sleep. I'm usually so tired doing it anyways that I don't remember it in the morning.
