View Full Version : a weekend to remember
Wow…what a weekend. My first Arnold Classic and I got to roll with the Animal crew….for those that know what Animal and The Cage is all about…that’s all I really need to say!
Firstly, a huge thank you to Universal Nutrition and Animal for giving me the opportunity to work in The Cage at the classic; it was an experience I will forever be grateful for and always remember. It was an honor to represent such a respected company. We didn’t have to hand out free samples or have half naked women to attract a crowd, the loyalty of the fans and the “REALNESS” of what Animal stands for didn’t need that. I couldn’t tell you how many times in and out of the booth that I was told how awesome people thought The Cage was and how it was by far the best booth at the Arnold….again I feel honored to be a part of that.
It all started meeting the Big 3….Big AL, Big Wides and Big Ant at the Philly airport…at that moment I could feel the energy building…..first agenda before boarding….FOOD….
…..more to come…..

First, the title of this thread sounds like one of those softly lit, romantic movies... Something that you might hear of in Seinfeld, haha... Second, and seriously, I heard you make quite an impact in The Cage brother...

you are right M, Animal is all about the brotherhood, it's much deeper then just a supplement company.

haha....
It was an honor to be there, I am extremely grateful.
I'm still coming down off my high from the cage......it's all still sinking in….
Training:
Thursday night after we landed and I saw the cage for the first time which is a post in itself that I’ve yet to collect words for…. we all headed to Metro-Fitness….I hit a nice little chest session with Hola Bola….hit some moderately heavy incline barbell then onto his favorite things….weighted dips….Bola is a freak banging these things out with fury, then we moved to incline hammer up to 5pps then a nice rep out set….Bola is a rep freak!! I rounded off the chest session with some flies as he moved on to a giant set of sorts for shoulders….he never stops!
Friday after working the cage all day, selling tons of gear, meeting forvm members, fans and people who wanted to know “what is Animal” we all got together for another training session. This time me and Big Wides hit shoulders….some nice db presses, nothing crazy…working up to 120’s Wides has some sick explosive power that is mind blowing every time I see it….then some 60lb front raises and side laterals, shrugs and rear delts….
Saturday at the ABC, I didn’t have much else to train, so I hit triceps solo hoping the short workout would give me some time to rest for my deadlift session Sunday afternoon….I was itching to jump in a train with others as I hate sitting idle watching everyone else sling the iron….so I chatted with some folks and then off to eat as we all did shortly after every training session……

haha....
It was an honor to be there, I am extremely grateful.
Heard you put on quite a show and put on the mantle of Animal. Solid.
McFly, thank you for your hard work over the weekend. It was a great pleasure to hang with a fella who trains hard, lives the lifestyle and works just as hard, if not harder.

THANK YOU U-rep....I'm glad and honored to hear that...I felt extremely privileged to be there representing Animal. I didn’t want anyone, be it a passerby, someone I was talking to, or selling gear to to come away with nothing but positive vibes and a memory from our booth. I saw many booths where people were just sitting there taking money or handing things out, no smile, no friendliness I didn’t want a single person to get that vibe from our booth or from me for that matter. Then to be able to move some weight in the same cage that all weekend many of our Pro’s put down some sick lifts and laced the crowd with knowledge it takes years to accumulate was an honor.

it was my pleasure J.....no one does it like Animal. I'll never forget this weekend.....
Damn bad ass write up McFly... it was an honor meeting ya and just hanging out.

Awesome weekend bro... I'm still laughing about our blood sugar tanking and us melting down waiting for our steaks after the ABC. Then getting back to the rooms, dialing 65 for room service too late trying desperately to get some dessert and letting it ring for an hour with no such luck. Haha.
Oh yeah, and you me and The Freak prove that big dudes can have little dogs. The two story doggie condo beats my doggie tent--I can't fuck with that. Haha.
I look forward to seeing you and my arch nemesis (El Presidente) soon. Be good bro.
Peace, G

thank you, you all are like family to me. No where else can you find a group of guys from literally all over the world and everyone welcomes each other with open arms and respect. My Animal brothers are what keeps this sport alive for me....we all know about the stereotypes, rumors and behind the scenes business that often skews the public image of our sport but Animal and my brothers keeping it REAL keeps the love of the iron life alive.
btw, don't make el presidente mad....folks better come down and train....just ask Wides, Ant and Mr. A about how Big Al handles business when people don't fill his empty glass with tea and feed him cold burgers.

McFLy is a great person and a great lifter, you can tell a champion by how and when he seeks knowledge. He is like me, always willing to learn and also has great genes for the DL. Next year, planning ahead, lets have a TWO MAN deadlift contest, a friendly one, push each other to new limits! The all time WR is 1500 and change. Pros with pros vs bros with bros....hey Im thinking ahead!!! Sorry to hijack the thread with that lol..back to my point, McFly is a cool critter, fits well with the rest of the Pros. I will say this one time...Im going to pull 800 in the Cage next year, and whatever goal you have McFly, if I can help you out in your planning all you have to do is ask. I am already planning my cycles for next years Cage.
