View Full Version : Best thing about your gym?

I have seen a couple of threads to talk about what you dont like about your gym. What about what you LIKE about your gym.

For me, I like the fact that it is 3 min walk from work, and that the cardio stuff is in a separate room from the weight room, so if you are in the weight room you dont have to deal with the blabber mouth talking on her cell on the treadmill.

I set up a 12X12 horse stall in my barn with quite a bit of stuff! I like it's always cool in there and it takes perseverence just to go out there especially in the winter when I experienced some temps in the the teens out there. I can flex in the mirrors and the horses looking over the stalls next to me won't judge me or laugh at what some consider vanity. Infact I can yell and swear without any care. I play whatever music I like as loud as I like and the nearest neighbor is more than an acre away! My cardio room consists of an elliptical in my living room so I can be with the family and hopefully entice my wife to try it out. The best part is I have saved thousands in gym dues and could justify a once a year gym purchase if need be based on these savings when I was still outfitting.

Good post Idskenpo!

They don't care about your clothes and shoes
You can ask to W/O even when they are closed

I recently switched from Powerhouse gym to a much smaller local gym. Its not as fancy but it's very comfortable. I practically have the place to myself at 5:30am and at night there are about 10 people there at a time tops.

The looks I get in my gym are great. I think I am pretty much the only one as serious as I am in there. The looks of disbelief fuel me.

I just switched to Powerhouse Gym from a 24 fitness and I love it. It is definately THE hardcore gym in the area and they almost cater to serious weightlifters more than others. They have very expensive heavy duty equipment, professional squat racks, dumbells up to 150, and some great cardio machines with individual TVs. The vast majority of the people that lift there are hardcore or HUGE and even several women lift seriously. There are signed pictures of bodybuilders lining the walls and the owner is a female bodybuilder. Oh yea, and I pay $10 less per month compared to 24hr.

I mean, you know it is a good gym when they have an Animal "Shut up and Train" poster hung in the mens locker room.

The original Powerhouse - They have everything I need and the guys that work their don't have attitudes - They're enthusiastic, not snotty. Good people.

My skool gym sucks, but a good thing is that I am one of the heviest lifters in there, and I break a lotta necks when I pull off some squats! Haha.

Hey Animals,

The best thing about my gym would be that it is fairly large, and I have trained in small gyms and I did not have a good expeirence. Also, another great thing about my gym is that there is a nice small dungeon in the basement. It is really funny because upstairs looks like a damn beauty parlor, and when you walk downstairs you enter a totally different world. Its awesome.

I know I already posted, but i saw something tonight I feel i should share.
A new guy came into the gym tonight, went and setup for cleans. pulled out some chalk from his bag chalked up his hands. The weight room is wall to wall black rubber mats.
one of the privates detailed to work there saw this and went and got the gym manager to get him to stop. manager walked in, saw what was going on, and then looked at the private and said, " you got a mop, right? make sure you use it in here tonight when you lock up."
I daresay not many gym managers would have said that, makes me all teary inside.

My gym's 24/7 just 5 mins from my house. I can go train at 11pm or 5:30am. Plus there are a few rather large guy's there, which is always a great push to work for what you see before you!

I have been going to my gym for a little over a year and the core members that are there everyday know me and they that when I am lifting there is no bullshit, no talking to me, and if I need a spot they just jump in. Likewise for them, they know I will help out anytime. It's a small gym but everything is there that I need and if not I improvise. I am just glad I got a place to train!

Nothing at all, hahaha. The people I've met though are irreplacable, though. Got me started on the road to where I stand today, and I can't do anything else but help a struggling shmuck in the gym like they did for me. I'm living proof that a little help can spark a fire inside.

I like my gym as well even though its a 24 hour fitness. They are cool about people sometimes accidentally dropping weights or grunting a bit because it happens and they understand. or atleast i have not done it enouh for anyone to tell on me. Only time will tell. been there for 6 months. We have an awesome selection of free weights and machines. I believe in both. No body in my gym is rippep like a freak or anyhting and im usually the only one getting the crazy looks for working so damn hard i get sick or almost get sick. I have some friends that are pretty big and strong enough to spot me but they just go to hang out and chat for a couple hours a night. I go early in the day when there is less people and i can concentrate better. No one there to help me acheive my goals so im alone on wanting to be a bodybuilder. I like it that way.

I train at my local ymca, its ten minutes from my house, and along the route i take home from work, but most importantly, really the only thing I DO like about the gym itself, is the few hardcore guys who train there too.

were few, and were often looked down upon by the "normals", but we go in and get the job done.

and its cool to look up from a ball bustin set of deads and see someone givin you that "nice" nod from over on a bench with a barbending load on it. True animals are an extremely rare species here in brampton ontario, but we always seem to congregate together somehow.

especially when theres 12 idiots doing jumping jack flip flop push ups off 15 swiss balls scattered everywhere.

My gym is a great for me. There is like 4 people in there when I go in the morning. The guy who works there in the morning is jacked, and if you need something, you gotta find him at the weights b/c everyday he's lifting while working! Awesome! It's got cracked posing mirrors, loud music, and all iron, no rubber weights. Has the cardio and most of all, you are respected. The old people are in there working hard, women, men, etc.... By the way, my gym is simply named "The Gym".

I train at the Fitness 19 in Fremont ca...first thing is..the price....like it says....19 bucks a month..thats it. The staff there is great...good people and really have supported my efforts to reclaim my life and health. I never feel bothered by the trainers...but they are always there to help spot and assist. I like the equipment...its always working...never broken....good free weights...location is great...and I can also train at the other gyms they have in the bay area....so..its all good...oh yea....I can get noisy...and grunt...the owners are all lifters and body builders....so its all good.....

My school's brand new gym is about 200 feet from my door. I can check if it is busy from my back porch. I also enjoy the 6 squat cages and 6 olympic lift stations so there is always a place to do squats or deads. Finally if you can go at the right time there will hardly be anybody there.

It is old and ugly. For most, it could be a "what sucks about my gym" point, but the fact that there is no bay window, no sunbeds and no fushia spandex keeps it raw, in a spartan way.

Im one of few who does stuff other than bench press. Alll anyone at my gym is strong at is bench for the most part. They bench more than they can squat or deadlift cuzz thats ALL they do aside from some other chest and arms exersizes. It gave me a good laugh today when I heard some guys complaining that there needs to be more bench press benches... There are 3 set aside for flat, one or 2 for decline, and 2 for incline in a medium sized gym... So i dont ever rly have to wait for anything cuzz they are all gathered around the bench lol.

Members Fitness in Lima....Its a kickass place to lift, everyone gets a key to the place, shitload of iron, DB up to 150, limited cardio equipment mostly all weights. No rules at all, any music ya want as load as ya want. Scream yell slam weights.. Bring in special equipment of your own, we have brought in boxes, bands, chains, kettlebells. Do whatever the fuck ya want

Both at home and at school, the gyms I work out at are never really all that crowded, so I rarely find myself waiting to use anything. Besides that, they have all the equipment I need and are both pretty basic, in that neither gym has any frills or needless shit. At home, my gym is open 24 hours which is really nice.

I like the fact that my gym is connected to my house. I transformed my two-car garage into a dungeon

A few months ago, everything went into the shed. Barbells, Dumbells, and a few different machines were added along with a wrestling mat. I installed a kick ass sterieo system with surround sound along with other goodies.

Talk about convinence...

The price of my gym is pretty good.....and that we basically have the same group of people every morning. Our routines don't get in eachothers way and we know when to stay out of eachothers way. It was just a natural thing that happened, not because of discussion but because of a mutual understanding. (oh, and I met my lady there)

ALTHOUGH, I cannot wait to become a home owner so that I can start creating my gym and not have to worry about being too loud or any crap like that.

i was away from my gym due to a Hurricane Katrina hitting my city. well, i now appreciate my gym much more b/c while i was away, i was at the biggest pussy/poser gym you could imagine. to make it worse it was connected to the local high school, so come 3:00 all the curl-ers come out. then i realized they had a hardcore gym hidden in the back.

coming back to see my gym, like a rat hole(you guys would have loved it), completely demolished. now i dont really complain too much about my current gym.
i would pick how they seperate the cardio, machines, and the real weights and real machines.

I like being one of the most experienced at my gym. I like the respect I get from the people that work there, and the looks I get from the people that workout there. Most people stick to the treadmills and elipticals so I don't mind that most of the people aren't there for the reasons I am. Most of them mind their business and stay out of the way, and I do the same for them. It's quiet, I am able to keep to myself, helps that my shirt says "I'm not here to talk."

I know I started this thread a while back, but i have since moved and started going to a new gym.

on two occassions in this new gym, I have seen service techs walking through and checking all the equpiment for maintenance issues. And what they have done is convert the basketball court part of the gym to the weight room, and have 3 each incline, flat and decline benches, 2 power racks, and 2 smith machines.
and it is open from 0500 til 2400 ( post gym)

My local Powerhouse Gym has friendly workers/trainers circulating all the time
Most of the older lifters go balls to the wall, even some seniors (really old folk) can make most of the high school kids cry (old-timers pwn here!!)
They also do extensive renovations every few years (They are bringing in new fee-weight gym equipment at the end of the summer)

But I won't get to break them in :(, I'll be back to my colleges ultra-skat-hole of a gym ><

I think I have the best gym ever. Only 99 bucks a year for the following - 4 squat racks, 4 smith machines, 6 flat/inc/dec benches, plenty of free benches, huge db rack, plenty of 100 and 45's everywhere, and most of the people in it are actually hardcore powerlifters (right on the border of detroit) and not too much of a meat market in there. not many goofs that just talk the whole time. great gym.

When I was at school, PSU had just built a multi-million dollar complex complete with 20 foot plasma screens and every machine known to man. Also pretty amazing considering the fitness fee is only 40$ a semester. Gym hours 6am-12am also a plus.

Both of the base gyms I go to are always empty! I think its mondays and wed's that there are a group of people but most of the time, I have both places to myself. I've been to a few gyms and I noticed last week that the gym I am currently using the 'heavy weight room' (squat, deads, bench press etc), is sound proofed, the gym I was at before, is bigger has heavier weights, but when I asked one of the staff for a spot and was pushing as hard as I could on a set of barbell bench the manager told me to decrease the weight a little, when i did so it didnt feel like i was pushing myself @ all, at least at my new gym you are left to it, unless you need a spot.

One my gyms I go to has 1 squat rack. Its a hammer strength rack. For some reason I love to squat in that type of rack as opposed to a cage or an open rack. The downside is they only have one. The up side when I come in no one is ever using it, and if they are they clear out pretty quick.

My other gym has some bigger guys there so its nice not to be top dog, you got something to chas after which is nice.

They supply chalk.
Squat rack, cage, benches, a lot of Hammer Strength equipment, couple cable crosses, leg press, they've got everything you need in my eyes
DB's up to 150 I believe it is. Most of the time, you know it's at least a decent gym if you've got some big DB's.

I've never been able to understand how gyms in the US can be open 24-7 and 70% of the gyms here in the UK are always shut my eleven, and those who open to midnight during the week, the membership is somewhere along the lines of £70, the only hardcore gym in my area a proper 'balls 2 the wall' place is run by a pro bodybuilder but is only open 10am-10pm during the week and 10am-4pm at weekends ive trained their a few times but im waiting between exercises 'cause after 12pm, its packed!

Good things

1 its owned by my training partner, so hardcore guaranteed
2 I work there so i have keys, allthough we have a keycard system and i train for free!!
3 a powerrack that can withstand nuclear war
4 2 solid benches that are good to bench on
5 chalk allowed for competitive lifters and such
6 after 8pm its the powerlifters and bodybuilders place, the regular people usually vanish when we start lifting heavy

Gives me a keycard to swipe to open the door. Which means I can come or go 24 / 7, holidays included. Tons of weight, and great equitment. And after a long hard day at work, when I'm on my way home at 2am, I have to drive right past it. So,.... no excuse to not go in and do what must be done. No more missed workouts, and at 2am, the place is all mine.

The thing about my gym, its on campus so its only a 10-15 minute walk. No one lifts before noon so its free range anytime before then. Also, theres plenty of free weights and machines.

09-08-07, 8:10 pm
it's really big, has dumbbells from 3 to 120 pounds, squat rack, pull up bars and tons of machines and machines keep most of the people away from everything else so theres usually no waiting for your lift..they have an upstairs for cardio, a whole room for stretching and abbs, no one really cares if you grunt or anything like that during your sets, my friend works there, they now sell animal products because i told my friend how great pak was, most people put their weights away, the bus stops by there to drop me off after school, it's only about a 10-15 minute walk home, the weights are organized and theres plenty of them

since i use my school's gym im happy it got 4 bench presses because at one point i remember like 6 or 7 kids standing around one and 2 others were being used and so me and friend got the other one, im just happy i get there before any1 else to save my "special bench" because its the most comfortable to me, also they dont give a crap if i scream...loud.

It is close to my house (if my car breaks down I can walk). If I am on midnight shift I go in around 2pm and it is empty (this is good and bad). The best part is the guys a train with if I go in later in the day. They have been doing this shit since before I was born.

My gym right now? Not much. There are 10 year olds running around in the weight room taking up the only bench in sight. The gym i am helping put together? Everything about it is amazing. The walls are brick and metal siding to keep the bars from goin through, chalk stations, deadlift platform, powerlifting grade bench press. You name it we got it. I have even been hired on to help the owner with her diet when she gets ready for competitions.

The best thing about my gym is that i am the only one there. Of course i have my lifting partner there, but thats it. 6 in the morning throwing up weight and not having to worry about some kid coming up to you and asking you how many sets you have left and throwing you off your game. That and its at a college so right when i'm done in the gym im walking out and see the young college chicks walking around. thats a bonus

I go to the gym around 11pm, and the same people are always there. We all have our own things that we do, and I don't have to worry about people getting in my way.

I even made acquaintances with one them, and we spot each other when it's needed. But otherwise, we leave each other alone.

Since there is a thread "The Worst Fucking Thing About My Gym"...... I'd figure to start a thread on the best part (springing forward from last nights conversation while training), there has to be good points out there.....here is what i have so far

- Plenty of pies for the taking
- Leg area always seems to be empty
- The aboundance of equipment that can be used to stimulate different fibers
- Adapting to what is available to train with
- My Training Partners

Let's here what others like about there gym

Other than the fact that I train in a fully loaded powerlifter's dream gym, by far the best thing about my gym is the people...I get great help from the guys in the gym, the lifters that have been at it for a long time...On guy upon finding out that I was compeating this weekend, offered me anything I needed, knee wraps, singlet, belt, anything I needed...He even checked to see if he had an old suit and shirt that I could use....

Last night I went to get get a shirt to wear to the meet and I took the baby, they all stopped to come over and see her, even the owner came over....By far the human element of my gym is the best part...and its in a basement and the music is LOUD!!!!!!

i am not braggin
i am not hardcore by any means

100 pound plates :)
the owners that come over to see big lifts or doing it themselves not coming over to tell you "you aren't allowed to lift that heavy sir"

the best thing about my gym is the...well...the entire gym.

-tons of equiptment, bells up to 150lbs, tons of benches not attached to stands, 5 squat racks

-the set up. used to be a racketball court, so they tore down the walls on the inside and clustered different things by bodypart. makes it easy to superset.

-the manager is an oldschool bodybuilder, always offers an opinion or suggestion worth its weight in gold

-the people. honestly they are dicks when you first meet them. but after you show up and prove you're not just taking up space they are amazing. Im not putting them down, they help the ones that want to be there. But they wont even make eye contact with the 5-times-a-week benchers and the guys who curl in the squat rack.

-location. 10 minute drive from my house.

-uh..probably the most important. tons of puke buckets, chalk everywhere, grunting, smashing of plates, loud music.

aren't you forgetting the completely hardcore music they play?

In all seriousness though, I like the deadlifting area. My previous gym was a small local one that didn't have one so I'd have to "borrow" a barbell from a bench and just deadlift on the floor in the small weight room.

The best things about my gym:

1. It never closes! I love going after midnight and seeing folks training. It's nice to know that people are committed to their goals no matter the time of day.

2. Hardly anyone uses dumbbells over 80#. It's just like having an entire set of dumbbells to myself.

And most importantly...

3. The locker rooms are clean and well stocked. Enough said!!

3) it's super clean (bathrooms, lockers, you name it).
4) it's open 24 hours.

im with you there man, the gym i work at has a cardio/all machine room in the upstairs for the usual fitness shit, and then a shitty lol 10 feet wide basement for the real weights. so i love that in the basement theres usually no one wasting time, and if there is they see a few of us down there and realise they dont fit in. and because its the basement all of the trainers stay out lol, theres never anyone to tell you your beeing to loud or lifting to much weight or just make things akward, there are about 12 regular guys who are all buds and all push eachother. its liek living in a good neighbourhood where everyone is secretly competing againts eachother and themselves. it makes it a hard core gym, with a family aspect, where theres always a familiar face

DA WIMENZZZZ!!!!!!!!..............

lol I'm j/k, but not. There's a lot serious females at my gym. The ones in their 40's are the crazy ones. When I started lifting, more than half of them were pullin more weight than me. Right now, there's about only 1 or 2 that outlift me haha... Anyways you can't beat motivation like that. My friend with a hot mom says,"Chris your gettin pretty big man...my mom said that your arms are bigger than my dad's at the dinnertable last night... it was wierd." And then I say, "No man I gotta get stronger...you don't understand... the woman are outlifting me!!!" Besides that, my gym has an awesome line of equipment. Anything I'll ever need. I'm paying less than half the regular monthly fee because I signed up before the gym opened. It's not exactly a hardcore, grunt and smash weights kinda gym... but I've never seen anyone complain when a guy does get loud. The only thing they don't tolerate is damage done to the equipment or the facility which is pretty understandable.

my gym is perfect, its extremely well equipped with a wide variety of maybe 5-6 year old equipment. so not too new and fancy but not too old either. we just got new dumbbells and treadmills, cages, and some fancy cable shit. DB's up to 150, i cant lift them, but they serve as inspiration. for the most part every member is enthusiastic about lifting and we have a solid crew of gym rat regulars. management doesnt give a shit if you bang weights, use chalk, yell, etc.. juice bar, supplement store stocks the full Animal line, sauna, pool, tanning, boxing, its got a shit load of stuff, and i will not deny it, some FINE women frequent that place.

The old guys.

We have quite a few older fellas, around 70 or so, that just love to come in and see us youg cats lift. They come over and encourage you when you are going for a big lift and help load and unload bars just so they get a chance to chat. I know a lot of people don't like to talk when they are in the gym but I will take a few mins out of my workout for these guys any day.

1. Open 24 hours, 7 days a week.
2. Close, about a 5 minute drive.
3. Relatively empty when I go (weeknights around 8-10pm)
4. Enough equipment to get the job done, and then some.
5. Good sized free weight/weight machine areas.
6. Plenty of cardio machines, even though I hate cardio.
7. Fairly cheap, which is a nice plus.
8. Nice locker room, although I never use it except for the bathroom.

2) I've got 3 to choose from... (PSU gyms FTW. White building, Rec Hall, or IM building)
3) Even distribution of machines/free weights.
4) Multiple squat racks, benches, etc in every gym.
5) No one is there super early.
6) Machine locations are usually organized to body parts.
7) It's got other options like racquetball, basketball courts, swimming pool, etc.
8) Cheap. 95$ for both semesters and all the above things (pool, etc) are included.

There's a huge thread right now about the worst fucking thing about your gym. I'm feeling lighthearted and would like to hear what makes everyone's gym great. Doesn't matter for what reason, lets hear why those gyms are great.

I like my gym for a few reasons. One if you go before 9 in the morning, no one at all is there because its on campus and college kids dont wake up that early.
Also, if the main room gets crowded, they have a dungeon downstairs thats just freeweights so I can have at it without being bothered by the prissy people.

How about other people? Whats the best thing about your gym?

In my gym you will find mostly free weights, old and worn rubber discs and iron dumbbells. Most of the machines are old monsters, not the fancy crap you find in sports clubs and similar places... It's not a big ass gym... you are allowed to rumble about and be noisy and drop the weigts on the floor while deadlifting. This is a place where you can grow stronger and develop without being disturbed by the business... I'm talking about the business that is going on in far too many so called gyms today - in these gyms, attention is focused on so many other things than the actual trainig... it's almost as if the essence of training is dead and forgotten.

I love my gym because it is a gym, and not a friggin disco hall lounge whatever.

Cheers!

2. its a very friendly place
3. no posers

haha

1. im stronger than the ego kids
2. theres TONS of 45's
3. the kids that work there are friendly and the guys actually know how to spot/ know how to train for the most part.
4. its free
5. where else can you squat 500 and have people just stand there in awe and say "wow your strong" and you just smile and say "thanks".. i used to get gaucked at and shit at 24 when i did LP, and people would ask me mid set if i still needed the weights on the machine...

This is too easy!

1. We have all the weight and equipment we need
2. I can do whatever I want whenever I want
3. I can listen to whatever I want however loud I want
4. Everyone that trains at my gym is hand picked and we all have the same agenda.
5. There is no Lunk O Meter. In fact, being loud and obnoxious is kind of encouraged.
6. Its free for me.

I wrote one of those threads that sounded like a lot of bitchin' and moanin' about my gym but that's not what it was so much. My thoughts just came out wrong. I was trying to let everyone in on a cool experience I had at my gym that helped me get a great workout. And that's what I love about my gym--no matter what kind of day I'm having there's ALWAYS a reason to have a fuckin' awesome workout and get it done!

I am currently in the process of making my own spot in my barn...almost done.

I have db's to 120, my own squat rack (NO BB CURLS ALLOWED!!!!), leg curls and extensions, regular bench, incline bench, lat pulldown etc.

I am looking forward to being able to go in there blast my music and blast some weight and not having to worry about anyone else getting in my way. Just a nice calm pace at which to build my fortress in!!!!

The Iron Chamber Gym, it's known to some of the top underground powerlifting contest in the US atleast that was the word on our last meet. machine was going to come out as a special guest but got snowed in in albany, ny.

have lots of world class powerlifters and record holders in different divisions that lift there as well as a big up in coming bodybuilder Jay Bednar.

it's in the basement of a bookstore the owner rents out and everyone pays a small fee and you receive a key and go anytime u want. if after store hours upstairs you can crank the radio up as loud as you want. only about 25-30 members, lots of free weights and banners, motivational writings on the walls, nothing around you but cold hard steel and the cement floor covered in chalk. needless to say it's pretty hardcore!

Scottish Highland Games, they do what is called tossing the caber. I have tried it a few times and it is hard as hell. The goal is to toss it, have it hit and flip over but stay on the center line and go the farthest. Tough shit to do.

It is very intense, they train hard. There are other events to putting the stone kinda like a shot, throwing a hammer like a kettlebell over a raised bar. Those guys are some badasses. And they do it all in a kilt! LOL

Gotta love us Scots!!

I daresay not many gym managers would have said that, makes me all teary inside.

wish i had the experience that the person your talking about had..i pulled out chalk in my gym and immediately got told its not allowed..i was rather frusterated..but..this thread is about what we like..so..id have to say..its..somewhat cheap..beside that..hm..hard one..

1) We all have a key, so hours are not a problem.
2) Enough iron to load up every bar in the place and still have some left over.
3) Dedicated partners and hands on owner.
4) No pop/top 40 on the radio, just that hard shit.

I love my gym. No windows- down in a basement area, No Hot women to distract you, and Heavy weights just asking to be moved

I go in the a.m and its just me and my trainig partner most days. Kind of like our own personal playground, with lots of heavy things to push and pull! Evenning time its packed with the jack jawers, so the best thing about my gym is the lonely mornings.

The fact that I have seen more people benching/incline benching 3 plates with good form, then dumbasses benching 2 plates with a spotter doing all the work

its a tent set up in the desert with sheets of plywood thrown down so the equipment dont sink into the sand, it keeps the lazies out cuz they wont think through a problem, if your hands get sweaty- you dont need chalk, just pat your hands into the sand.

i can do practically whatever i want in it!

if i get noise complaints for putting a barbell down, they just ignore it. im aloud to use chalk on everything..but i clean it cause im nice :)

your not suppose to drop dumbells but im alloud!

ahhh

oh, WWE comes to my gym when there in town.

we have 6-8 power racks, all with a pull up bar too.

the women look amazing! ( when i rest, i can watch!)

we have 175 dumbells and cause i big guys is reppin them on the incline press, where getting bigger ones! i think a set up to 200.

i gotta say, my gym is great, just some people in it are not lol

What surprises me is that I go to the YMCA, and they actually provide us with chalk. The YMCA has a bad rep with being a commercialized gym, and for the most part it is. But when you walk down the stairs to the basement, you see tattered equipment, power racks, and a place that looks like a dungeon. There are even some old school power lifters that work out there. It's actually semi-hardcore.

#4 - Chalk
#5 - Rusty bars
#6 - No cell phone reception in metal building
#6 - Very few mirrors
#6 - Yes I listed 6 three times (666)
#7 - People staring at you like your a freak when you have a squat/bench/deadlift suit on
#8 - It's cheap for memberships

I lift at a good hardcore gym.. alternative/rock music always on the speakers.. bucket of chalk in the corner. Pictures of arnold and other bodybuilders on the walls. Mainly serioius lifters go to my gym, but of course there are always a few who ruin it. Also, its open 24/7!!
