I was just wondering..im 17 and im goin to be in a bodybuilding competition in may. i am doin about 4 sets of 12 on everything..I pause in between sets, the question i have is how long should i pause between them

Bodybuilding not so much, you're just looking to gain size. If you're looking to gain strength, you should pause each rep, it helps to get stronger as you have no other momentum. Pausing is a good way to lift, but isn't completely necessary for bodybuilding.

I think pausing is a good idea for anything because it allows you to have more control, and stops you from using to much momentum. Trust me a lot of people train using to much momentum and never realize it. So if you want to pause then pause if not, then so be it. But in my opinion pausing will benefit you in many ways.
this one definitely needs to be moved to the training section. remember the rules guys, watch where you are posting, and search for threads before you actually post it...there may have already been a thread containing this exact information. just gotta look around.
on a side note, use the technique Rest, Pause, Grow....you have to be willing to switch your routines up a bit every once in a while...if you keep doing the same stuff, your muscles get used to it and wont grow any...you have to stimulate them with different exercises.
