For my 21st birthday my mom got me tickets for a 7 day cruise to cozumel/ grand cayman islands, (well not mexico now because of the fuckin swine flu), but still going to have a nice time. My deal is how to eat and train properly away from home. Has anyone here been on a carnival cruise? What meals do they offer that are substantially clean? (I'm cutting right now) Do they have a gym on board? any past experience would be wonderful.

Stuff to bring:
-Pull-up bar
-perfect pushup things
-supps
-jump rope

i dont know what else....hit me back with some ideas.

Check out their pamphlet or whatever they have to see if there's a gym, bring your protein, pak, omega any of the basic supps like that. Eat whatever they've got and enough. Or hell, if you haven't had a break from the gym in a while, nothing wrong with a week off

Enjoy the cruise, if you get to the gym and train great. If you don't then its not a big deal, you aren't going to hault your progress.

Enjoy the cruise and dont sweat the weight situation. Being an Animal is also about enjoying the better things of life as well outside the gym

I say hit the gym once or twice, thats it. enjoy the time off, its a GOOD thing to take a break from training and supps. I say dont worry about bringing any supps, give your body the time to recover and just flush itself clean. Just make sure to eat somewhat clean food, and just enjoy the vacation. That's what i'll be doing come July, moving into a new apt, getting a dog, and then vacationing with my family for a couple of weeks. i'm not worrying about the gym or supps, i'm gonna give my body a vacation too.

Most cruise ships have some sort of a gym for the fitness enthusiasts. I am going on a cruise in Dec and u better believe i made sure my ship has one. The buffets on the cruises have such a wide variety of food that u are sure to find great protein sources. some have even have 24/7 sushi bar's. Enjoy your trip bro have a great bday celebration. Bring all of us some souvenirs .

They have a small gym, almost all machines.

Take it as an active recovery week. Eat a lot, train a bit in the gym, just get a good pump.

Go on some land excursions, get some exercise in that way. Just have fun!! Unless you're preparing for a competition, there's no need to worry about it, a good week off with lots of food, sitting out in the sun is great for your body!!

I would probably still train 4 days a week, I would just make it shorter sessions and work with what they give me. I would also be gettin my mac on hahahaha. Sadly I've never been on a cruise, even though I would love to go on one.

I've been on Carnival twice and they have a pretty good, decent gym....lot of Nautilus stuff but enough stuff to get some training in. But hey...go take a break and enjoy. If you feel up to it then there is a gym there to be used. Otherwise...cop some rays.

simple weights plus cardio deck.

they usually have a buffet area for breakfast and lunch and formal dinner setting.

buffets are nice, stick with the basics and you will be fine. but, more importantly, enjoy yourself. Have a few drinks, eat some nice food..its all about having fun.

I was on a cruise about 4 months ago and can say that if you are looking to eat, that is the place to do it. Not worrying about buying food is great and there is almost always a buffet where you can find some clean food at. I was in there often refueling. I took it as an off week and hit the gym 2-3 times to just get some full body work in. I will say that if you haven't taken some time off, this would be a good time to do it. The rebound gains will be good and letting your body rest is always beneficial.

Most of all just go out and enjoy yourself down there. Especially since you're turning 21. The weights aren't going anywhere and if you train all out when you are home you should be fine. One week will not kill your dreams, whatever they may be. Relax, eat up and have a good trip man. Enjoy.

heres some pics from the trip, the vacation was awesome; cayman islands were sick, cruise was relaxing. all you can eat 24/7 - sushi, deli sandwiches, steak, chicken, fish, salad, pasta, rice vegetables, fruit, eggs, salmon, oatmeal, so good...

they did have a smaller gym, dumbbells only going up to 50lbs, lol, but i got a couple solid workouts in with what i had.

check it out
