When you guys do barbell rows do you let the weight rest on the ground between each rep or just let it hang? I've seen it done both ways-- does it make a difference?

I meant like fully extend the bar down but not let it touch the ground.

i guess i am confused.... for BB Rows. You bend your body to a 45 degree angle, and row the weight... are you asking what you do inbetween sets with the weight? if so... let it sit on the ground... if not, im really lost.

dont put the weight back on the ground between reps. Do a rep 'let it hang" and do another. dont put it down until the set it over.

perform all of your reps per set. then set it down.

haha sorry that was so confusing-- i couldn't think of a better work than "hang." alright thanks.

There's no reason to hit the floor in between reps IMO

sometimes i set it down if my grip gets weak or i need to stop for a second to pound out 2-3 more reps

Depends on what kind of rows you are doing, for regular ol' bent over rows you can just do like the fellas here are suggesting and row away, not letting the bar hit or rest on the ground between reps. But, if you are doing Pendlay rows, which are much harder, then the bar starts and ends on the floor on each rep.

ah ha. that's what I was thinking of. Is there different benefit from pendlay rows?

Regular bent over rows: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lek0D7KWulA

Pendlay rows: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIUg8nDVEFs

Pendlay rows are much harder to do, and hit the back much more imo, but with the bent over rows you'll be able to move more weight, try them both out and see which works best for you.

i found that standing on a platform of some kind so u can really let the weight hang down low and get a good stretch works awsome too.
