Hey everyone, new to the forums so thought I would introduce myself by making a journal. This will be my journey!

I'm 20 years old, 5'11, roughly 165lbs.

This will be my new offseason journal leading up to my next contest prep. I will be changing the way I do things this time around, regarding my diet and training. There are a lot of things I need to improve on, and I intend on doing so. In the past, I was very inconsistent with the way I ate. Every day was different in terms of macros, the sources I was getting those macros from, and even how many times a day I ate. My chest and legs are my weakest areas. I'm ready to put in the work to bring these areas up. In regards to my next show, I will be bigger...I will be more conditioned...I will be more prepared.

Training

As stated, my weakest areas are chest and legs. I'm changing my routine to really blast my legs and bring them up to proportion. I'm not going to go into this with the "Whatever happens, happens." attitude. I'm prepared to put in the work. I've yet to determine what I will be doing differently with my chest training to bring it up. Feel free to post any tips or ideas you may have to help me out.

Diet

My diet strategy will be *Consistency*! No more guessing how much I ate! Everything will be recorded and I will be hitting my macros from day to day, week to week. Initially, I'll be starting with 3500 calories for the first couple weeks, gradually adding more until I hit around 4500 a day, and see where that takes me.

Competition Plans

The show I just did I took 3rd place in Men's Novice Tall and 3rd place in Men's Open Tall in the OCB Central Eastern Seaboard States. For my first show I am very happy with that placing, and couldn't have asked for more. I learned a great deal, and know how to prepare better for the next competition. My next show will not be for a fairly long time, maybe over a full year. I know what it takes to win now. And that will be my goal, to win.

3)That chest workout was NOT good enough if you really want to bring your chest up.
The first exercise has to be the BIG one,flat BB or incline BB or inclineDB are the only choises to start chest day. Off season you don't need all those reps.

Energy 10/10!!!- Best workout I've had since I could remember. Trained with Big Al, Mac, and a couple others. They really brought the energy. My adrenoline was pumping the entire workout I was pacing around in the zone goin' nuts! Reps may seem really wierd they had me doing lots of forced reps and negatives to build up my strength. But there you have it. 10/10 workout.

Haha I am very lucky! Al is a great guy and a beast

But I do eat lol...about 4500-5000 cals a day

One thing I do need to incorporate though is red meat like you said.

Its different everyday i never eat the same things meal to meal

i usually just have target macros for a meal and go from there

25-40g pro a meal

70-100 carb a meal

and fat falls where it falls

I have 6 planned meals a day. sometimes i manage to get 7 though.

yeah i have been gaining quick strength and weight since i upped my cals

ive noticed your rows have increased in weight considerably since you started the log.

are these strict barbell rows like franco columbu used to do them, or are they more inbetween a perfect horizontal and upright row? just curious.

good work on the rack pulls and deadlifts

from your pics it looks like you need some sick back thickness and you are doing what you need to in order to solve that problem.

just shift some big ass weight

try dropsets

take one plate off each side, doing more reps with stricter form every time

then straight after work back up to 3 plates, but this time doing deadlifts

so:

1 set of 315lb bent rows to failure
1 set of 225lb bent rows to failure
1 set of 135lb bent rows to failure
1 set of 225lb deadlifts to failure
1 set of 315lb deadlifts to failure

minimal rest inbetween sets

Energy 8/10- Had a huge pump and tons of energy when I started the workout. After the incline dumbell presses I felt like I used up too much of my energy and had nothing left...time to up the carbs pre workout!
