Whats goin in everyone? My names Travis, Im 17 years old and thinking about competing at a PL meet when I'm 19. Right now I wiegh roughly 180 lbs. My three lefts are :
Dead Lift 335x6 just chalk
Bench Press 245x5 just chalk
Squat 315x4 just chalk.
I was curious if anyone thinks I could compete before I turn 19? If so any tips for contest prep or anything like that. Any help is welcome, thanks.

what kind of supplements are you on?

what does your diet look like?

what are your ORMs?

take the time to grow more, you are only 17..your body is still growing at a better rate than us older people. you can wait til you are 19..you'll do better then.

Though the above poster has some good points, I would say if you have the chance jump in and do a meet. This will give you experience of what a meet consists of and how to work your numbers for the opening lift and how to assent from there. Those numbers look pretty solid. But one this to keep in mind, the 181's and 198's are two of the most competitive weight classes. Best of Luck to you

You can do a meet now if ya want everyone needs to start somewhere.but you may want to try just going to a meet to see what its all about. You can learn alot to prepare you for your first competition instead of going in blind.
You will want to find a reputable fed to go and check out, not some back yard shit. Get yourself an issue of Powerlifting USA it will have a list of upcoming meets. There is also a ton of info in there.
I did not notice where you lived but there are meets damn near everywhere. I would suggest either IPA or APF.Both have amateur and teen divisions, There are plenty of other feds out there but these are two that I compete in and they are the most popular.

Good luck

With numbers like those you should definately get into the game as soon as you can! Do like Powerfreak suggested and find a local competition. Even if you just go to check it out and meet a few people that's cool too. It's never too early to start though!

Did my first meet at 16, and suffer no problems at all. Jump in and do a meet, definately well worth it.

gotta get your dick wet sometime haha.

start local and dont jump into a national show your first meet.
make friends there and ask people for advice if you have questions.
most powerlifters are normal people too.
good luck man
