So most of my training takes place at home as i have no method of getting around for the time being...gotta love being stupid in the summers...

i have an adjustable bench with the bar and 300 lbs of weights for it and dumbells from 40-100 in 5 lb increments...

What is a good exercise i can do at home to hit my lats??? i have been rackin my brain trying to think of some good shit, but to no avail.

Strength and Honor.

try this for a lat workout, its simple but gets the job done:

Olympic Lifts for the upper back (get tech. down first)
deadlift - 5x5
bent over rows - 10,8,6,6 (reps)
shrugs 4x10
one arm db row - 3x8
turkish get -ups - 3x8
straight leg dead lift 3x10
rack pullups 3x10

If you can get a pull up bar than you would be set, no pulleys needed to build some wings for lats just some good old weighted pullups...nothing like em

Rows! With your setup you just need to do different variations of row. Heavy bent over rows will add serious mass to your back!

One Arm Dumbell Rows and Barbell Rows would be best for lats. Freakshow

Thanks for the advice guys...I do a lot of rows, bent over bb rows, bent over plate rows(just using a plate in my hands) and dumbell rows...never really feel it that great in my lats, guess i will have to go higher in weights. my form is always good...i was always taught to master the form before you master the weight.

and what are Turkish Get-ups??

It's not the equipment - weights you have, but what YOU do with the equipment - weights YOU have...

You want a massive-cut back rows-rows and R O W S

Barbell rows --try both grips (both palms up and palms down)
Dumbbell rows--try 1 arm at a time, with your knee resting on the bench and try both dumbbells together, lying face down with a slight incline on your bench.
Dead lifts--will make you strong and huge, make sure you do them with proper form.
Pull-overs try both barbell and dumbbell.

Just train hard and eat good, and don't worry about doing stupid stuff in the summer, we all live and learn!

From my perspective...

I believe in heavy pulldowns/chins with varied angles for back width and heavy rows and deads for back thickness with a little targeted lower back work like hyperextensions. In my opinion a fully developed back requires a combination of both movements. Most of my workouts include 2 variations of each and I finish with something for lower back.

I would add a pullover movement, ideally with DBs as I consider that to be an ideal but often overlooked back movement that stimulates lat width.

If you could get a pullup bar, that coupled with your freeweight rowing is more than you need for complete lat development. Punisher has it right.

Rows and Pull-ups. Repeat. I do DB Rows a lot. Challenge yourself with drop sets on those for extended tension times. Get a pull-up bar. Do varried width grip pull-ups. Bent over BB rows are pretty good too...then you have to eat to fuel the growth.

Olympic Lifts for the upper back (get tech. down first) ...are these like a power clean or clean and jerk? ...and what are turkish getups?

I Always do weighted pull-ups first with the bar hitting behind my neck, the isolation is sick. Then I row and row some more (changing up the dumbbells and barbells) and dead lift. 5 sets of 5 totaling 4 different movements including the deads.

Deadlift last? You're sick. I'd get checked out.

That way you don't have to leave anything in the tank and don't have to save your lower back for rowing... Sound strategy and one I employ on occasion. Peace, G

This may be off topic from lats but add in some straight arm pulldowns on ur tricep pushdowns machine and do a 5 pin drop. It'll target your reardelts, mid traps, and all the little mucles inbetween.

I train at home also.I hit my lats with chins and pullups, you can get a doorway chin bar at any fitness store for around 25 bucks. If you start off chinning and only can do a few, that's alright, work your way up.You'll be amazed how big your lats will get.Chins are also great for your upper back,Bi's,and also a great Ab workout. If you want a wide back, you must chin.Whether it's at home or the gym.

Yup. Nothing like having your lower back screaming at you to distract you from the task at hand. I always do deads or lower back extensions AFTER I get through the other stuff first. Focus is everything.

is there a real benefit for doing dumbbell rows on an incline bench or right on the dumbbell rack? if so, what part would they focus on?
