does anyone know y i can do 225 for 10 11 reps but i couldnt do 275

the way you train.... its probably why i bench over 300 and cant do 225 for more than like 6 or 7

Like squat said, probably cause you're used to training with higher reps.

Maybe take the next step and hit 245 for like 4-6 reps bro.....50 pounds is a big jump, you'll get there....just keep workin hard and it'll come. This shit doesn't happen overnight. Maybe once you can get 245 for a good 8-10 then move up to 255-265......you get the picture. good luck...

You have strong slow twitch fibers. Your fast twitch fibers are lacking. It's pretty normal.

Same thing happend to me, except the opposite. I had been doing 5x5 programs for so long that when I got back I could bench like 295x5 with ease but struggled with 225x8. Just how you training and which muscle firbers are more domiant in your body.

thats probly why because i do fast reps thats probly y and how should i workout different fibers should i be doing slower reps instead of fast

Just start doing lower reps, like sets of 5 reps, or even 3 and you'll get that 275 and then some in no time.

Agreed.Its not necessarily the speed in which your doing the reps.

Try 3-5 sets of 3-5 sets for a few weeks. Then add in singles for a few weeks. Then go for 275 and youll probably get more then a single.

Try a lower rep routine like shizz or Excessive suggested. Something like 5x5 for 8-12 weeks will work wonders on your lifts if you have been running 10+ reps for a while.

I think the key is controlled reps. Explode up but on the way down, let your muscles experience the resistance and negative portion of the movement. Don't let gravity do the work for you or you'll shortchange your true strength development.

How about a routine that hits both fibres? Like a set of 3 - 5 reps, then also 8 - 12 maybe?

Yep - I probably can't do 185 x 12 but can hit 355 x 1.

thansk guys i started the 5/3/1 wendlers program saturday i should see good results right. I seen alot of reviews and people say that the program is so fucking good

Hit the nail on the head. This is the biggest mistake of inexperienced lifters.

yes i have, it is 1 of the best things ive done.

the program calls for useing sub maximal weights to get strong.....if you still wanna fuck up the %s and max out, go for it...OR you can follow the prescribed way to do your sets.
