Damnit. Doc just called and told me the results of my MRI.
Left hamstring is 65% torn. No leg workouts and no DL's for 8-10 weeks!
2006 was horrible for me... and 2007 ain't lookin to good already.

I'm kinda going through the same thing bro, resting from a fractured big toe. Can't train legs seriously for at least a month. Here's a quote from the new Rocky movie:"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done."
Stay strong bro, it ain't over til you stop trying!

I feel for you...are you trying PT first, or is the Dr. requesting surgery? You can still do upper body. With the partial tear, you might even work up to training calves and quads (in limited motion) in 2-3 weeks. Ask your Dr. (is he an orthopod?) what alternatives do you have and if he can suggest a good Physical therapist that has experience with high-level athletes.
Keep positive, hope you heal fast!

No, he's just a doc... but my best friends dad is an Ortho, so i've spent a lot of time on the phone with him. He's getting me a custom Neoprene sleeve to zip over my thigh.
he told me i could do a little calf work and such after 2-3 weeks..
soo i'll see what happens. i'm gonna definitely listen to the doc this time and NOT do any squats or DL's. I'm working on this *not being a stubborn jackass* thing. lol

Let me know if you need any help, I work in the PT field...the sleeve will be good for your hamstring, before you put it on, rub some Icy hot-Mineral ice on it, warms it up, keeps good blood flow, and ice it after the workout!
when you get back to light training, remember to do eccentric leg curls....slow negatives, they really help heal and lengthen/strengthen the muscle..
stay strong.
