The IronMan Pro starts off the IFBB Pro bodybuilding season.
Animal's -Universal Nutrition's (WRATH) Frank McGrath competeed in this show...My buddy who lives in CA went to the show. He said Frank had enough size to hang with all the big boys on stage and he was also sporting good hardness and symmetry..Even though Frank did not make the top 10, by buddy said he could of and should of placed between 6th-10th. You see, Frank was overlooked at the show in place of other better known bodybuilders...and bodybuilding is very subjective. Unlike basketball, where you throw a ball in a netted hope, if it goes, it scores points. Bodybuilding has no "set in stone" rules on how a competitor should be judged. Some judges favor a more massive look, some like a more ripped-cut look and some are going to reward an aesthetically pleasing look.
To me, regardless where Frank placed, HE IS A WINNER! He sucked it up for a period of months of hard grueling dieting, endless cardio sessions and heavy balls-to-the-wall weight training. And you don't have to compete to be a winner. A very over weight person who never exercised a day in their lives and relied on fast foods and a lot of sugar-processed foods for a diet, has goals to eat 3 very good meals a day and to walk to their mail box at the end of their driveway without getting out of breath. When this person achieves that goal, they are a winner.
Winning is not about trophies, medals and placing in the top three. It is about making short-term goals and busting your ass to achieve and exceed them! Than, re-group and make new goals to achieve.
Again, Frank competed with the best of the best, and held his own respectably. Again, he is a winner!
Take the time to shoot him an e-mail to congratulate him, he deserved it. AND I AM SURE HE WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!
