Those old school, hardcore gyms are dropping like flies. It's a shame. Which ones have shuttered their doors Erik?

Gladiator opened in '65 and closed in 2005 or 2006, Southside closed a couple of years ago and Iron Island was sold and they got rid of the powerlifting equipment and became "Southshore Fitness"

I kinda liked Metroflex when it was just Metroflex... This whole franchising thing. Kinda reminds me of Gold's and World's...

Although I do agree that hardcore starts in the heart, it's hard to train all out in a facility that has dumbells that only go up to 80lbs, doesn't allow deadlifting or leather lifting belts and won't even allow gym bags to be brought out on the floor. These are the kind of facilities that have popped up all over the place and knocked the smaller gyms out of buisness. As each one of these gyms fade away, we lose an important part of our sport's long and rich history.

Time will tell, I don't think that the hardcore atmosphere of the original will be lost in the brother gyms. Atleast not as long as Brian Dobson has his say in it.

Yeah, and those places got away from what they used to represent when Joe Gold lost control of them and died.
