1 can tuna (~120g drained)
1/4 cup bread crumbs
chopped onion, celery to taste.
1 large egg
Pepper to taste.
Combine all the ingredients well. Form into 2 patties and fry until brown in olive oil over medium heat. You can easily double, triple this recipie. Use as much celery and onion as you like. You can use "seasoned" bread crumbs too.
Olive oil can be substituted with Pam, margerine or butter.
You can serve these any way you like try with low-fat mayo and mustard. Or with melted low fat cheese and BBQ sauce. Serve on whole wheat or multi grain bun.

Sounds intriguing... actually, sounds pretty damn tasty. Might have to try this out. Never really know how to add some flavor to my tuna, considering I hate the taste of mayo and mustard. I'll be checking this out soon... Thanks bro.

Just had them for the second time, they stick together suprisingly well and the olive oil adds great flavor. A good change-up for a bodybuilder on a cut who misses burgers.
good call on these tuna burgers.....sounds like lunch for tomorrow

You're welcome guys.
Its nothing world-class but it is a great tuna variation, and takes virtually the same amount of time to make as a tuna sandwich...just tastes alot better.

Big Jawn I gotta thank you for this simple recipe. My wife made them for me (she added a bit of lemon juice, garlic and paprika) last night, damn good. Great meal idea for any one a budget! Hell, the kids even liked them!

In another thread, oats have been substituted for breadcrumbs to lower the glycemic index of meatloaf and that tasted very good. So I wanted to try it in this recipe. Here's what I tried:
1 can tuna (drained)
1 whole egg
1/4 cup oats
cayenne pepper
black pepper
onion powder
I mixed this all together and fried it in one big pattie in olive oil over medium heat. The pattie soaked up all of the olive oil (more good fat!) and I ate it with a little bit of salsa on the side. It actually didn't need the salsa. It tasted pretty good on it's own. I think it'll work with 2 egg whites instead of the whole egg to get rid of the little bit of extra fat.

Just had these, but i did 1/8 cup bread crumbs and 1/8 oats (so that fills the 1/4 cup) and like remanufactured's spice list.

i may just have to have my gf make some for dinner.
Tried the tuna burgers and they turned out real good, also found that it doesn't hurt the taste to add oats into the mixture. Or maybe I put enough pepper on it that it didn't matter. Either way, it works.

I think oats is a great idea, a good recipie is easily adjusted to your goals and nutrition needs.

There you go bro, Big Jawn beat ya too it. almost same recipe, except he uses bread crumbs, i'm sure the oats are brought up in that thread too. And you're right, they don't taste like tuna, i ate these for about 2 weeks straight.

I made these yesterday with some black beans on top. They weren't the best, but not bad for such a clean meal with tuna. Definitely my favorite tuna recipe. Thanks!

Other variations to rock might be Canned Chicken, or salmon.
Some red pepper in there would be good too.
ooh, and some freshly ground black pepper, and if your not worried about sodium at the time, some capers.
Sorry, its the culinary education...

Dude, I ate 6 Cans worth of Tuna Pattie's today. I made my Own Bread Crumbs, put in some Cooked onion's and alittle Black pepper with "Mr.Dans" seasoning for taste, even topped them off with alittle mustard, and Im going to admit, they were awesome. Cooked them right in the Skillet, with no problems. Damn. I want another one, haha. Great Recipe Bro.
Had to bump these back to the top, ate two of these on a bed of lentals for meal # 2 today
One of the best, if not the best recipe I have tried on the forum. These are great!
i'm addicted, 2 more tonight

After three pages of praise, how can I not give these a try? I mean, I love tuna, so here goes:
I added 1/4 cup of oats, 1 egg, 145g of reasonably dried tuna.
They turned out a bit watery, so I'm thinking it needs a bit more eggs or more frying. Oh yeah, the oats I'm using are rolled oats. But MAN were they tasty! I seasoned with chili pepper, sea salt and black pepper (all fresh and ground by myself). Not bad at all, not bad! Big props to the OP!

The best thing I've found with this recipie is its flexibilty, it can be tailored to any nutritional needs. Tuna is a true superfood.
I love these! My wife and daugher loves these as well.
It's the only way I can get my daughter to eat fish!
