Im 17 and think that if i started a powerlifting rountine i could build a better base, than training like a bodybuilder. I havent found a basic pl routine with the split/exercise/reps for a beginner. If anyone can outline what kind of routine i should start with id be glad
Bench-225
Deadlift-345x3
Squat-275 (not rock bottom)

As a beginner, whatever routine you end up doing, to build a strong base rely on heavy compound movements with free weights. Always keep the power 3 in there- bench, deadlift, squat. Those will make the whole body grow. Stay away from the cables an' all that. You have to have a strong foundation otherwise the house will crumble. Lift hard and keep your nutrition right brother, & in time you'll be a beast.

I am also 17 and a high school powerlifter. We compete in Bench and Clean & Jerk. I have found that clean and jerk is great for overall strength (as long as you use good form). You explode with your back and legs, use your legs to front squat it up, and then use shoulders to jerk it.
