Feminization of men in America AKA girly men.
Dudes I dont know if you guys have noticed this but it seems to be more feminine men around. I go to work and yeah a sucky gym(yuck) thats like a night club. And I cant help but notice how girly and feminine men are becoming and I dont mean size. Men complain they cant work because there backs hurt back in the day my father and everyone worked regardless of pain, u did what had to be done, push pass the pain (have that animal mentality). Guys at work complain that they cant lift 60lb boxes. These are young men because they had a fever a week ago.
When I was growing up it was can commando beat Rambo in a fist fight. We looked up to Mr. T ,Stallone,Schwarzenegger,WWF and such. Now its Orlando Bloom,Justin Timberlake and Can Usher beat Justin Timberlake Dancing. I hear about men getting pedicures and manicures. A scar should be a badge of honor not something to go get laser surgery for. Stretch marks on a bicep thats massive is Impressive, not something to rub coco butter on. I see movies now with men that could not protect a female if they tried. I see videos where they men dance and can move as well as the women and etc...

I hear ya Hulk.. Im originally from Georgia (thank God my Dad raised me there), but I just moved down to south Florida for school and it was fuckin culture shock for me. Lotta metrosexual guys down here. First time I went to the beach some of the guys noticed there was something wrong with the skin on my arms, chest, back, and shoulders. After they found out it was stretch marks they all remarked " you should put something on that to get rid of it I wouldnt want my skin to look like that". FUCK THAT I worked my ass off to be covered in these marks. I see them as badges of honor from lifting, but the guys down here view them as an unsightly mark on their beautiful skin. My hands are rough my skin is stretched and I fucking love it. Some guys just need to grow a pair...
I aint knocking on any1 from south Florida from this so plz no1 get offended im just saying wat i noticed when i moved down here. Shit I love being round the beach.

I could vent all day on this subject matter but I won't.. i cant even begin to explain my hate for feminists or metros or whatever u call em'.. they all have mental disorders, i ain't sayin their evil or anything but come on there's something called gender roles in this world and i don't know who taught them the wrong ones but something has to be fixed before this whole race of american men becomes infected

I feel the same way...what really kills me is when I walk past the treadmills on the way to the weights and see guys who weigh about 120 lbs and have the muscle mass of my index finger, hair gelled, and talking to their buddy, running and then heading over to the weight rack to do a couple lazy ass curls with about 10 lbs. I swear......get off the treadmill and pack on some freakin mass so you resemble a man! geezus

I hate the fact that whenever I have gone to buy a pair of jeans in the past few years, I have noticed that they keep making the men's jeans more and more feminine. I can't believe that I actually see the words "low-rise" and "flare" associated with men's pants. It used to be that I could walk into the store and find the jeans that I like pretty easily, now I have to go fucking exploring to find a pair that aren't styled to be some type of metrosexual feminine bullshit.
At school I catch shit cause i bring muscle mags for when im bored and my school has a bunch of ***s aka metrosexuals who saw me looking at it and said EEEWWWW thats gross who would ever want to look like that? i told them to blow it out the ass its my dream to weigh 265 and covered in strech marks, but my generation i hate to say is full of pansys, Why couldnt i have been born in the 50s when Guys were Guys and their was no gender confusion

Thank God!!!
I've been saying the same thing for years now.... just wait, its gonna get worse. Girls jeans are just the start.
Its gonna evolve into complete feminization of the whole nation: no military, or a very little military soon; *War is bad* and we all need to *get along*... shiiiiit. The strong make the rules.
we're gonna be a whole nation of pussies.
but they're not gonna get me! ;-)

I got a funny one for you all. I'm a people watcher we go to the mall my wife takes off to all these little trendy ass stores to buy here labeld trendy clothes while i sit and watch all the people. Well a thing, trend you might say, that I have noticed lately on younger men is that they are wearing girls pants. WTF? I mean literally low cut girls pants. I questioned my wife on it and she said Yeah it is a new trend now for High School boys and younger college men to wear Girls low cut pants. I say again WTF Gives?
If I would of come home with a pair of girls pants on my Dad would of whooped my ass. Literally!!! He would of beat me senseless, then stripped me out of those pants and beat me some more.
I can live with the hair do's, I can live with the Over sized baggy Marylyn Manson Hot topic look, hell even some of these kids wearing some trendy ass Alice Cooper face paint. But boys in low cut girls pants is where my ass draws the line.
My son is almost 11 if he comes home wearing a pair of girls pants, well lets just say he'll be a girl :)
DAMN KIDS!!!!

I must say, I am ashamed of my generation at times. I see guys with girl pants on and i just want to vomit. My dad would have kicked my ass so hard I'd have to part my hair to crap if came home with pants like that. What the hell happened? It's sickening when I see guys that are more concerned with their clothes and hair than most girls!!
Guys are now freaking shaving their legs. And they carry themselves like women. You see these guys they are built of nothing and have very feminine personalities. If we ever were invaded and there was a land war we would be in some trouble.

I believe the kids you are all talking about with the girl pants are called "emo's" I had em in my high school days, and we used to scare the shit outa them. You know how you can tell they are bitches? They wear those super tight girls pants..... WHERE DO THEY PUT THEIR "JUNK"? UNLESS THEY TUCK THAT SHIT UNDER, I DON'T THINK THEY HAVE ANY!!!!
I was at the gym and these two guys were talking about eyebrow arching. Some guys actually shave there legs.

I don't disagree with much of the sentiment on this thread... It is a shame, but John Wayne is dead. The noble warrior, rugged aspects of bodybuilding are the elements that have always appealed to me... Not the runway, underwear model shit, but instead becoming more powerful... More of the alpha male.
That said, I'm against bullying or intolerance. To me, for that matter, grouping any class of people together and making broad generaliztions about them is unacceptable. We each have our own Journey and can't make these judgements before walking the necessary miles in the next man's shoes. Live and let live, I say. If you don't like my style go fuck yourself and mind your business. This is the minimum I expect from others and I offer them that exact same respect. Peace, G

I agree with G on this one. We should not judge other people because they are different and do something that is not what we do because well lets face it if you are a body builder a powerlifter or just a big freak 99% of the population is gonna think you are wierd and not understand what you do. We should respect them for making their own choices and living the way they do, it not like they are forcing us to be like them and do what they do. So to each their own my friends, if none of us were different then this world would be pretty fuckin boring.
Though I personally feel the same sentiments as some in this thread, a lot of the issues discussed can be traced to the media's influence on society. I just don't want to see this thread turn into a bash/hatespeech thread b/c of someone's lifestyle. We ain't here to knock anyone's personal "lifestyle" choices because I know we ain't all perfect. We need to concentrate on ourselves and how we can set the right examples for others to follow. As a steward of the iron lifestyle sometimes ya gotta help steer others from making misguided choices. My definition of a true man... One who has honor, dignity, great strength, courage, discipline and respect. These are what we should exude... Better yourself and those around you just may take notice.
But ain't nothing wrong with a little rant every once in while, sometimes you just gotta get it off your chest.

Yeah, we shouldn't actually *hate* on these people. There is hope, even for *emos*. lol
In fact, my brother used to be one. Skinny, wore girls jeans. He was "hott" as he would say. "Girls love guys in girls jeans" ...etc
He wanted Pecs, so I told him to come workout with me. Started talking a lot about our different views, and I told him that Men were supposed to be strong. They don't have to be huge, but they need to be strong and protective. Have a man's body and mentality to match. I told him he was a Man now and he should act like one. -- *btw, your body does not make you man, it was just something that helped me get a point across to him.*
Anyways, he now goes to the gym and works out hard. Almost as hard as me. He's still pretty skinny, but he can't fit into girls jeans anymore! We had a burn party just the other night.
There is hope

i have said for years that 20 years from now, there will be no major rugby unions in the US. have you noticed who the most popular guys are in the media? skinny-ass dancers with extremely high voices. just a point.
that said, intolerance of they way they choose to live is a much greater evil. we have our way and they have theirs. we can't expect them to understand what motivates us, can we? it's deeper than anyone on the outside looking in can possibly fathom. perhaps they have a motivation to act and dress the way they do; in fact, i'm sure they do. we just need to let them go on their way while we continue to fuck their girlfriends.

Interesting thread. One could argue that competitive bodybuilding itself is a"feminized" sport. Yet the bodybuilders themselves are highly "masculinized". Makes for some interesting dynamics. Perhaps this is one reason bodybuilding will never be a mainstream sport?

Interesting dynamics indeed. When hard pressed with the need to be the hyper-masculine, alpha physique, and yet balance it with what is stereotyped as "feminine" grooming habits, can you "hack it"?
It's all about the production, the display of the body. "Feminine" grooming habits are designed to maximally enhance the display of the body. Therefore, bodybuilding borrows from this practice, applied to the display of muscularity.
Ironic.

Excellent points giant_killer. The display of the body and its aestheticization, the objectification, the politics of passivity, the "male gaze", all these things are typically associated with what is "feminized". Throw in the bodybuilding competition, with its "talent" round, its "swimsuit" round, and the parallels are striking. On top of all that, you have the hyper-masculinity as you call it. A strange blend, for sure.

I usually am not impulsive, don't like fights with no reason... but half of the boys in my classroom (I'm now in high-school, 11th grade, 17 years old) have shaved their legs, abs, chests and they feel cool about it... also there's a new fashion here... all 16 years boys do this... go to the gym for 2-3 months, do nothing but abs, chest and biceps just to look a bit better on the beach... fuck it!!!
Here's a question...What happened to survival of the fittest? Now we got 'guys' runnin around lookin like the girls they're tryin to get. It truely disgusts me.

my 15 yr old lil brother starting fullback and middle linebacker quit football cus he was in the weight room too much during the off season and coach told him to up some weight on, he told me he didnt want to play ball anymore cus then he would be big like me and he wouldnt be able to wear his Abercrombie & Fitch gear.
I had to leave the room cus i was about to beat the life out of him!

I already stated my opinion on this subject when the thread first started six months ago. That being said, let's not forget what G Diesel and Punisher said back then:
I don't disagree with much of the sentiment on this thread... It is a shame, but John Wayne is dead. I agree with both of them regarding this matter. While we may not like that particular style, there are countless people out there who don't like our style, and who look at us with disdain and/or contempt. Furthermore, just because someone dresses a certain way or whatever is no reason to judge them. There are tons of threads on here about how "nobody understands us" or about how "normal" people "just don't get it". I mean, I think it's hypocritical for people to be complaining about being misunderstood, and then turning around and bashing someone else simply because of the way they dress and groom themselves. Just some food for thought. Besides, like didDy said, it ultimately leaves more room for the strong "alpha" types like ourselves out there...
I could not agree more, and I see the valid pionts made by everyone who posted here. I believe the problem with dem boys is that they do not have role models like we had back in the day a.k.a.-HULKAMAINIA- ECT.and I think the biggest issue is, we as dad's have let them down by running out like like punks and leaving mom to do it all alone.Make a child, raise a man.
bring up a child in the way he should go,and when he is old he should not depart from it.
Peace.
I can't say that I don't agree with some of the setiment in this thread. However I do feel it's misplaced. If it weren't for those "emos" you wouldn't have a barometer for where you stand in life. Everyones path is different I hate seeing a ethos such as Animal Pak's being bastardized the way it is on this board sometimes. It's supposed to be a postive thing around here and with bodybuilding in general, I feel it's become to clicky and the mentality has be come herd like in the disctinction of progression as a human being is concerned. The fact that we lift to better ourselves is a great thing, but if it becomes the only great thing were doing to the point where we are chastizing other people who don't find this to be they're outlet of bettering themselves than we are just as guilty as they are for chastizing us for our outlets. Being strong in the gym does not qualifiy any of us for judging the lives of anyone else. Nor does it qualify you for protecting your women. With power comes responsibility we should all act accordingly.
Just to clarify that rant wasn't just about the responses in this thread, just an overwhelming trend I've seen lately on this board. I agree with a lot of the responses in this thread but the overall tone of the board latley led me to this long drawn out response. Everyone seems to think a little bulge in the biceps these days makes them certified tough guys to the point of arrogance and I think were all better than that. Atleast that's what I thought the Animal way of life meant.

Not to single myself out i guess, but I had blue hair, and i've painted my finger nails, but i've also been in popular punk bands, i've made money playing music, i've worn tight pants, but never girls..
A heads up. anyone who is really "emo" will deny that they are emo to the death. Anyone in an "emo" band like taking back sunday or fallout boy will call themselves "indie"
kiss wore make up and high heels, were manly about it, and dominated as masculine figures.. with plucked eyebrows...
I don't know where its goin, but i can lift and eat like an animal and have a mohawk with long bangs. Its all about expressing yourself, just as I do in the gym. I like it, its how i live...
on a side note, i did kick the shit out of a skin tight pants skate boarder who gave me shit at a concert.

Well said D-Rock, well said indeed. Acting all tough and shit is the antithesis of what Animal is all about, nor does it make you a man. A man stands up for what he believes in, and is swilling to fight for those beliefs, but also knows when to let shit go and just walk away. Being a bully and judging others doesn't make you a man, it just makes you a stupid asshole. It takes a real man to not judge, and to treat others with dignity and respect.

Atleast that's what I thought the Animal way of life meant.

I once sported 12" liberty spikes, and I don't listen to the radio. Gang Starr, Wu Tang, Johnny Ramone, Misfits and Sublime are always in my head. I was a "different" kid growing up, and still am. If you walk to the beat of your own drum and don't give a shit what others think of you, life can't be better...

I started reading this and my smile kept getting bigger. It seems where I live is somewhat isolated from the rest of the country. Most of the men here work construction, mine coal, build houses or work on farms. Most of the girls I talk to, even the ones who arent from here like the type of men we are. It is primal that the females go for the stronger alpha male, not to mention we can push a car full of meterosexual men up hill in the rain .. hah. It does dissapoint me that men arent what they used to be. My hands are scarred from lifting, fights and dragging things around. I have tattoo's all over, the best way Ive learned to deal w/ these pansy types is simply to brush them aside, when it comes down to the clinch I think the truth will be evident as to what man is "the real man" Maybe some of these kids need woke up and need guidance ? As for what women prefer, I dont concern myself .. some girls dont like boys like me ... some girls do. Just be who you are .. live life

A EFFin Men to that
Most of my Irish relative are like that, (farmers mostly), thay have strength and not much bulk and carry a grip that break hands on the clasp
I grew up with a rural lifestyle and I've done construction and other maual labor before (along with working out heavily), but in a urbanized neighborhood
This feminization is very noticable and frustating to see occur infornt of me
Men of today are getting less manly by the year
I see roughly a 2x drop in guys with balls since I left High School
Not just the jeans being a second skin look, but the trend of thinking they own the place, especially when their parents "gots the money"
Skinny-ass men who think they can take down an athlete, especially talking trash on a night out (They are Outa their minds in my opinion)
But the girls DIG this?!?! What Gives here?!?!
The obvious wrongdoing is their "man" won't be a guardian
Especially since she'll be wearing the pants (whipped)
If their talking and trashin' gets them into a real fight, I am sending no prayer for them - 'cause my prayer just got answered
They need a good wake up call to their thick heads, does a 2x4 or a Lousiville sound like good enough of a mechanism?
I try to not bring violence into things, but this ticks me a lot
Our future kids are becoming "The fatties" and catching on even faster is "The man-ginas" and NO-ONE is listening
Just to get me more ticked

I didn't want to do this but your post right here sums up exactly what I was talking about. Why is it that the entire undertone of this post is some alpha male I'll protect my women and if it comes to violence I'm whooping ass cuz I lift weights post. Why is that you are praying for violence towards these people? You don't know the path that these people walk just as they might not understand your eating and training you don't understand they're tight jeans. Let them walk they're path and you walk yours. I've seen some of the most muscular men reduced to tears. A bulge in your biceps by no means makes you tougher or more of a man than the dude standing next to you in tight jeans, and it certainly doesn't mean you're automatically whooping his ass. You guy's should be carefull with this mindset because you never know what the next man know's or is carrying. The way I see it is dont think your tougher than somebody because they dress a certain way or act more feminen than you do, let them do their thing you do yours.
But what I am talking about is men physically biologically and emotionally becoming more like women. Higher estrogen levels increased fat deposits in womanly areas, and increase disdain for a man to be the man of the house. this is being portrayed in tv everday....sitcoms. the husband is always portrayed as being the typical dumbass of the family, no1 looks to them for advice they have no power in the home. they are fat dumbshits who basically is nothing but a comedian and it seem like this is becoming the ideal....is thsi what America wants?? im not saying to be shovunistic either but at least get some respect from your family..just my opinion though

I feel you on that note and I do agree about the pussification of the American male I just don't agree with various other things being said. My thought on the decrease of being a man is the lack of a man in growing up. I know myself being raised by a single mother, for a women it's hard to raise a man...and for a young boy with no example to follow it's hard to grow up and act the way a real man should. Make no mistake though it's no excuse for not eventually finding your way and learning what it is a real man should do.

It is not just the attire
It is the mindset that these people have taken over by media and whatever underground influence is occurring that I don't want to know about
-They are doing "paste-on" routines that are towards "beautifying" oneself
-Liberal to hell (Freedom,Rights,Benefits for ALL bullshit), think that they are the "big deal"
-Only concerned for a 6-pack and nothing more
-Since they think they are the shit, they are supposed to walk on in with a red carpet, and they'll trample/stomp over your body if you block their path
-And MOST have some attitude or something is shoved up their tail-end
-Where is the battle scars of labor? construction? the leather-stirrup hands from working out? the trails of rising vein-work? Where is that Beautifying?
-We do not point to one body part to work on, our bodies as a whole will be built up from the calves up to the traps
-We do not give an attitude, unless we are provoked or disgusted at what we see
-We understand what we pitch in is what we get in return, nothing is for free
(We may get a free trial product or 2 from Universal, but we pitch time and sweat to make them work)
-We just carry on with our lives, we do not expect the spotlight to shined upon us 24-7, and if someone is in our way - we would say "excuse me"...
This is what I have come across, in my neighborhood and some "kids" at college (they are soo immature)!!
It is embedded in their heads, and I certainly do not think this mindset is gonna change at anytime soon
To me, it is all a big negative vibe I'd get off of A LOT of these people, and the women go for it
I mentioned the 2x4 and the louisville as a remark of that talking it out to them will not be enough to start controlling/removing this bad mindset
And they 'll be too stubborn to try and change
I do not aim for violence, but something Blunt/To-The-Point/Effective must be done
The "prayer got answered" remark was that they get what they dish out - thats all
"Feminization", "pussification", whatever you want to call it. Yeah. It's happened.
Man was designed (or evolved) a certain way. Strength, leadership, desire for adventure, insane libido, and linear logic are the bases of what our Y chromosome provides us with chemically. But over time, this strength and leadership has been abused by some men, causing a society of women rapidly ascending to "equality" with men to demand a suppression of the male quality. Society values a tamed man. TV sitcoms based around so-called "liberated" women go on endlessly about how women can "tame" or "train" their men. Such bull.
As a man, I've fallen victim to this trap that society has built for me. Maleness is bad. Maleness is oppressive to the "fairer" sex. It is wrong to be adventurous, or to be dominant, or to have a raging libido. So it seems necessary to just suppress natural feelings, urges, and actions. It's a hard process to remove oneself from feeling guilty for being male. But it's worth it. You're not responsible for anyone but yourself. So don't let anyone make you feel guilty for being a man. Women have done some pretty deranged and wacked out shit too. We don't blame all of womankind as a blight on us. Why should they be able to let us feel that way?

In my opinion, part of being a real man is loving and appreciating women. I like strong, capable women and often find that the weakest and most insecure men are the ones most put off by powerful women or those women that know what they want. Nobody on this planet should be able to "train" or oppress you regardless of their gender and I would imagine that in 2007 those lacking backbone, conviction and a strong sense of self are the most susceptible to such domination. Women have been held down and devalued for a long fucking time in our society... They deserve their day of reckoning and a little bit of payback and in all honesty, why would anyone have a problem with that? Who the fuck doesn't think equality is a good thing? If there are men out there becoming weak because encountering strong women somehow broke their feeble spirit, why the hell are the women to blame? I say grow a fuckin pair and then maybe women might respect you. Peace, G

By the placement of my quotes I am not suggesting that equality is a bad thing. But it hasn't been achieved. Thus the quotes. And suggesting that the solution to any man who feels emasculated by the demands of society is to simply "grow a pair" is ludicrous. Half the men in this country don't know what a man is because they've been raised by a single mother. The problem isn't that they simply aren't manning up and donning a pair of testicles. It's that most men didn't have a father to teach them what a man is. What is means to grow a pair. That has rendered many men susceptible to all sorts of influences.

At the same time, I think through the absence of this "father" figure, many men have come to the realization of all that is expected of them and are all too aware of what they missed out on--for some they feel it is an excuse to act in a similar fashion when they too become fathers for others it is a call to responsibility.
The other problem I have with that statement is that it undermines the incredible strength of the single mother, raising children alone in the face of every possible obstacle. Such figures should evoke greater respect for women, not heightened misogyny. Peace, G

Not intending to do so, I apologize if I have, I merely point out that the single mother simply is not a man. When raising a boy the mother can't force their child to learn to be a man by example. Watching Die Hard movies or old Clint Eastwood films might have a greater impact on a young boy's perception of what a man is because they are seeing and imitating by example. It is a major difficulty in single parenting and by pointing it out I am in no way seeking to denigrate the strength and courage it takes to be a single parent.

So what your saying is that a single mother cannot teach their children to be good people to be good men? But certaintly they would be able to teach their sons what not to do as they probably have encountered some behavior in men they didn't liek and some that they did.

You don't need a father to be a good man, you just need someone to show you the way, someone you know not a movie character or someone on tv, anyone can teach you respect and values and standing your ground never giving up, fighting for what you yourself believe in, that is not gender specific

I was raised by a single mother, my parents split when I was a baby, my dad was not allowed in my life by an evil step dad..We are best friends now, but that is another story...There were men in my life, mom's ex-husbands, but she made the greatest impact on me. Before I left the house, I could cook, clean, sew, do my own laundry, all that shit. She raised me to be a gentelmen, honest and courtoius. My mom raised me to be a man, period, the kind of man my grandpa was and my dad is. I open doors, help old ladies, all that good shit, fuck with my mom and it is lights fucking out for you...Watching her get beatings at the hands of drunk assholes thoght me how NOT to treat women and how NOT to be a man.
When I needed some testornie (lived with mom and two sisters) I would go hang with my uncles, great guys...I am a momma's boy and I am man enought to admit it....fuck hollywood..I learned how to be a man from a woman..

As a woman, I like to be the "pretty" one in the relationship. I have my nails done, I wear make up, have my hair done...... Even being a "bigger" girl, I have that innate vanity that is in most women to want to look good. I also like looking good for my mate.
I want the man I'm with to be proud to have me on his arm- and when in contest shape, I'm quite the sight.......if for no "other" reason that it's a unique look and it's not something you see everyday. Even people who don't "like" the look of a FBB stare because it's unique. I like to be the "show horse" in the relationship, and I want my mate to want to show me off, both in public and in private. Vain, yes- but that's the bodybuilder and the exhibitionist in me. To me, it's a turn on to be stared at, even approached by other men ( and men can be quite bold) and to be able to say that I'm "with" someone and I am not available. Fidelity and "belonging" to someone is extremely sexy; I have always thought that. Exclusivity , for both men and women is a very attractive trait.
But.......as far as my taste in men is concerned: I don't like , nor do I want a "pretty" man. I want a man who looks like a man. I have no use for a man who has "better" skin then I do.....I don't want a man who takes more time getting ready to go out, then I do........I don't want a man that has facials.....? I want a man who looks and acts like a man! A man can be handsome in a rugged, rough kind of way, and my husband was.
I like a man that I might have to stare at for a while to "see" how attractive he is. Men most women call "beautiful" turn me off. I don't konw why. If a man has a "soft" face or "soft" hands, he's had a "soft" life , and I can't identify with that. Probably because I've walked a hard road most of my life, I want a life partner that is coming from the same "place" I'm coming from. I need to look in a man's eyes and see that he's known hard times, that he's suffered, that he's loved AND lost but despite all of that, that he's also human.
I like men that are driven, passionate and intense. Men that are protective, confident and committed........ I want my mate to take care of himself from the "health" perspective and to care that he looks good and presentable when he's with me, but not a man that's overly concerned with every detail of his appearance.
In short, I "want" exactly what I married.

I think there are a lot of absent "fathers" in this world, but so often it is from absence that we learn what is necessary, what is right and what is expected. Peace, G
Good follow up G. Alot of frustration I've seen from members here as I've been reading through these posts is their outrage that the masculine era they lived in as they progressed and came to age is pretty much dead. With the exception of extreme fighting and bodybuilding, where can males turn to for a MANLY role model?
Most of the 'girly men' being referred to in these posts are 'not by their own fault', but guilty of buying into the stereotypes corporate fat cats have promoted to be 'cool', to be 'the guys who get the girl. One post earlier referred to someone saying that girls like guys in girls jeans. This surely wasnt taught in their highschool, it was droned in by powers that be who are in charge but lack the responsibility to promote healthy and positive things for our younger ones to feed off of and build themselves from. Mtv is my prime example.
All this being said, mad props to Animal for being man enough to go against the grain and provide outlets, information, and well read role models who could actually help nuture a free thinking, wise, and strong person.
For everyone on this thread, we are what we focus on and surround ourselves with. Its good to vent, but keep the eye on the ball. I more than most Id say hate the trend thats weeding out the masculine, and promoting the feminine. Bitching gets us nothing. Action gets us everything.
Rather than respond here to vent on this, maybe take the time to write an email to some of the people who make the decisions of whats forced down our younger generations throats. THAT will make far greater impact in making the future and your fellow man as you wish it to be.
Here's your chance to make a difference. Copy and paste this URL in your browser, and take 5 mins to write VIACOM your thoughts. They own several media outlets, including mtv. I've already gotten the ball rolling. Are you going to be the feeble cat who complains and does NOTHING when SOMETHING is within his or her power?
http://www.viacom.com/CONTACT/default.aspx
I agree with alot of what I have read but I would like to say when a person follows a trend and wears what other people say is cool that is far from being your own person and not caring what everyone thinks, it's actually the exact opposite. Man the fuck up and be your self!

I hardly think the peaple being discussed are "doing their own thing" by following a trend that has been gaining popularity as of late. Especially a trend that seems to undermine everything associated with "masculinity", although the trend does seem to make those charactiristics more noticable now a days as they are rarer.Either way, I am not nearly as generous with my respect as to hand it out to everyone for anything. I am not going to say there is anything wrong with them, i dont personally agree with it, but saying you respect someone for something so trivial really says alot about the worth of your respect.

I agree wholeheartedly. With your earlier post, it was kinda vague, and I wasn't sure if you were talking about those that follow trends to try and be "cool," or those who dress or act "different" because they don't give a damn what others think. Like I said, I have a lot of respect for those that "do their own thing." On the other hand, being a mindless sheep and dressing or acting a certain way just because others do it is kinda pathetic. So, I'm in agreement with you there. However, there is a difference between respecting a person for who they are (respect which is earned), and treating a person with respect. Regardless of what one thinks of a person, I think that all people deserve to be treated with respect, and that their rights as an individual should be respected, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they are "respected". What I mean is, even if you don't personally respect a person(and lord knows there are a TON of people that I don't respect), you should still treat them with respect, and respect their rights as an individual. Know what I mean?

Peace, G
Once again G comes along and adds the most profound statement possible. I don't think anybody could have put that better, bro.

Vin Diesel and The Rock may not be able to act, but atleast they have some muscle. I'd love to see Justin Timberlake star in a movie like "The Runaround" or "XXX" just so I could see him play in an extremely masculine role. "Guys, you bled on my straight legs!"

Wow Toni!!! I totally agree. I've looked at the "younger generation" hard this past year and really have noticed a role reversal, if you will. It seems like women are trying harder to become the "rock" while the men worry about fashion, popularity, and public opinion. In the little town that I live in, all the boys have long straight BEAUTIFUL hair, nicely kept finger nails, and even their body frames are delicate. I don't judge people, cuz the last thing I want is to be judged on my appearance as well. It doesn't make you any "less a man" if you want to dress a little feminine, but I'd just like to say, that's not what I'm into. Like Toni, I like my men "beefy". Just look at Powerfreak? He's as Beefy as they come. LOL. And that's what I like.
You have to learn to accept ALL people, no matter of their preferences. It doesn't mean you have to agree, or even like them, but I feel we all must show mutual respect to one another.

Just my opinion...But why does it matter, there are going to be things out there that get everyone fired up and to vent is one thing, But over how people like to dress like is the least of our concerns in soiciety its fabric that covers you body!! To each thier own if someone wants to do something who are you to stop them (of course if they are going to hurt themselves or someone else in the process). Look at it this way people probubly do the same to you and you dont like it so the best way to "Become the Bigger man" is to ignore it you will eat all your meals and sleep at night, Right? if they dont their loss they should pay more attention to thier self than to what you do and what you wear.

“Our greatest strength as a human race is our ability to acknowledge our differences, our greatest weakness is our failure to embrace them.”
Just out of curiousity, who said the quote? It's a very good one.

Haha, ok. Thanks for the info, though. I may do some searching on my own on that one.
It is not a big deal if we merely ALLOW men to be feminine. That is their choice.
The problem arises when people expect me to give a shit about expressing my feelings. They want me to be "sensitive" and "tactful". When the society we live in insists that there is no room for rough men who like to bleed and spit, that is when we must pay attention.
It is far too easy to shit on the lazy fuckers with soft arms and soft eyes. They have no edge. They are just walking dead. But it is not our place to shit on them for that. We just need to show them that there is still a fucking fire burning, and we can take them to a place with real meaning and real challenges. A place of truth and iron.
Lead by example. Maybe these guys have just never seen a real man before.

I think I love you guys, I have been bitching about this stuff for a long time. And whats with jeans with holes in them when you buy them seriously wtf is that why do I want to give you 40+ bucks for jeans with holes............ men need to be men, boys need to be boys, people need to learn how to raise there kids. For instence when I was in 4th grade I had friends guy friends with earings........ then in junior high I knew guys who wore black finger nail polish....... used to piss me off to no end. In my house if I came home with a little loop earing my old man woulda ripped it outta my ear, that type of behavior wasn't okay in my house just like wearing bagy shorts that were falling off of your ass wasn't okay either...... once again though i think these things that people do come back to there parents.

Times have changed massively since the days of Jack Dempsey and Harry Greb--and not necessarily for the better.
BTW, what does your Latin signature say?

Sweetness after difficulties or hardships.
Think of the word, "asperity". Reference to Clan Fergusson, Aengus?

"Through difficulty, sweetness"
It unpacks differently than that, though. Hard to describe.
It is the Clan Ferguson motto.
I don't feel I am picking on anyone, The facts are we are men. We are suppose to be stronger,We are suppose to protect,When it gets right down to grits we are warriors and when you shy away from that by being and acting like a female there is a problem. I see so many "man girls" at the gym. You don't have to be massive (that is awesome though) but If someone looks at you they shouldn't have to look like 12 times to determine if you are a man because you are all dolled up and have the mannerism of a teenage woman, And these are learned behaviours these are choices that are made you are not born with a girly walk, hip huggers, nail polish and feminine mannerism. You are born with a bunch of testosterone that negates all that girly crap. If you look at tribal cultures you don't see all the femininity. We are wired and built differently so stop trying fit a square peg in a round hole.

This is a very interesting topic. I for one have always been interested in psychology.
There are good points made throughout this entire thread. One of the one questions that I think is the most important is:
How is a man supposed to act?
Now there are definitely extremes to this question, one being the "alpha cave man monkey mother fucker" attitude and the other being "maybe i should put on some make up to look prettier".
As weird as it sounds I think society as a whole has shunned men and how they acted. Its almost people want you to feel bad for being a man, including other men (and thats what we call ****** bags btw). We have been told our whole lives that girls are so good and boys are so bad. I think this mentality actually starts with the skyrockettign divorce rates, the women's movement etc... Its because we are a generation raised by women.
So what happens when boys don't have a father figure around? You are looking at the end result of it anytime you go to the beach, gym, mall, etc...
Unfortunately I can only see this getting worse as time goes on because everything thats happening is happening because there is one thing men AND women lost along the way to enlightenment.......RESPONSIBILITY to their children.
Just venting

More and more men are going under the knife for plastic surgery. More are getting manicures. More men are being diagnosed with anorexia. Something is happening. I just don't know what.
if you had bitch tits would you go get plastic surgery to remove t
