I figure I'd start up a thread to express my own personal beliefs, opinions, thoughts, and random rants that come up on a daily basis. Some will be a bit vulgar and no-holds barred. Others will be deep and more insightful. Either way, enjoy the ride.

Feel free to comment on topics or bring up relevant interests. Its all good.

Ha. It should definitely get interesting at times. I travel a lot during the week, so I have a lot of time to think to myself. My commute to work is a little over an hour. Post-work, I drive about 25min to the gym. After that, its a 45min-1hr drive home. I'll be sure to record those thoughts in this thread when I feel they're worthy.

I liked a lot of the comments you made in my Jersey Shore thread. If you're not from New Jersey, I think it's really easy to make fun of the state, lol.

Are you a competitive bodybuilder or just someone who's into lifting?

Absolutely. Like we all say, if you're not from Jersey, you hate Jersey. Another one of my favorites is ''our life is your vacation''. That rings especially true for me; I live 5min from Seaside Heights/the beach.

I have competed once, back in October 2009. I'd love to get on stage again, but right now, I'm enjoying 'life'. I still train like a bodybuilder, and diet like one as well, but I won't be gearing up for another contest-diet anytime soon.

I'm a huge music fanatic. Every since I was young, music has always played a vital role in my life. I remember rocking out to Jock Jams WAY back in the day on my crapped out CD player. Even before that, I remember listening to radio, recording songs on blank tapes, making my own mixtape.

Music is ALWAYS around me, and that's my choice. When I drive to work, music. When I'm at work, music at my desk. When I'm at the gym, music. Even when I'm cooking my food on the weekends, music is being played. I put on my 'slacker radio' on the blackberry and put the phone inside my Animal zip up hoody pocket. I'm a walking jukebox, going in and out of my house, checking the grill, the oven, and stove, etc. Damn, even when I'm showering, I have the music playing.

The thing I like most about music is the way it makes you feel. The reason I'm writing about music is because of a song I heard earlier today. Certain songs can 'bring you back', so to speak. They make you visualize a certain time/event in your life that brings a smile to your face.

Today, the song 'Shimmer' came across the speakers, sung by Fuel. As soon as the beat came over the radio, I was immediately brought back in time to high school. I picture summer weather, clear skies. I picture rolling up to our 6am basketball practices in a ridiculously hot gym. I remember meeting up with 10+ friends from high school at Ortley Beach, where we'd all just sit and hang out for hours.

Another example would be when I'm driving home. For example; its been raining here for 2 days in NJ. Traffic is a nightmare (this will be an entirely separate entry .. or entries lol). I'm aggravated, late for a doctors appointment, windshield wipers on, snow on the ground; fuck. As I'm gripping the steering wheel with the death grip, a particular song comes on over the radio. Its like all those angry feelings were just stripped away, leaving me relaxed, calm, and smiling. Dave Matthews Band. Grey Street. Brought me back to the days where we'd hang out in our friends basement, just relaxing, having a few beers. No worries.

I went to Cancun back in November, and it was fantastic. Words cannot describe it. There were a few songs that played during the week that will forever be embedded in my soul as anthems to 'rock out and party'. At 12pm every day, the pool bar was just starting to get crowded. At that time, Jock Jam's 'Let's Get Ready To Rumble' would come across the speakers, elevating the volume at this point. It was like a switch. Everyone knew that shit was about to go down. Time to party. A few songs later, after being tuned up a bit at this point, 'I Gotta Feelin' by the Black Eyed Peas would come on. Shit got heavy at this point. To this day, when I hear those songs, its like I travel back in time for a moment. I can see everything as if I'm really there; the pool bar, the pool, the people we hung out with, my friends, the background noises, etc. I almost go into a trance for the first seconds, reliving a great moment in my life.

Now I know not everyone shares the same feelings towards music as I do. And I know most people won't have the same tastes in music as I do. But I gaurantee that people have similar reactions when a certain song comes over the wavelengths. Maybe it reminds you of a season, a vacation, a special moment, a girlfriend, a boyfriend (what?), whatever it may be.

Feel free to post up something similar ...

Definitely. There are some senses that do this better than others. Hearing a song definitely does it for me too. So does smell. If I smell something, a food, certain trees or plants, or whatever, it has the power to take me back to the past. Seeing things, touching things, and tasting things, not really. But hearing and smelling, definitely.

They play it at kick off at every giants game. Whenever I hear this, I can feel the concrete, the hard seats, the wind tear through my face, the crowd going nuts .. YES. Good call, NG.

I can definitely relate to ya on music... I grew up constantly listening to music... My Dad had excellent taste in music, and as I was growing up, I got heavy doses of the Beatles, Black Sabbath, ZZ Top, Led Zepplin, Aerosmith, the Who, etc... (He even brought me to a ZZ Top concert when I was at the ripe old age of 3 years old... *LOL*) And, as I grew older and developed my own personal tastes, I eventually even picked up an instrument and learned to play... I was in a band for a bit and we played everything from Buddy Holly to the Clash... (I play guitar and bass...) My personal tastes are more peppered to the heavier side of things... Such as Rob Zombie, Slipknot, Megadeth, Lordi, etc... But I have healthy doses of Classical, New Wave, Techno, and a lot of Funk, as well...

I'm a punk/metal/hardcore guy, but I was always telling my wife that the one band I really wanted to see live was AC/DC. She made it happen. Saw them perform at MSG.
They still rocked out, despite being close to 100 and years of putting god knows what into their bodies.

Oh I'm definitely in on this. Music is HUGE for me, and I feel ya on the songs taking you back to different times and places. The song Danger by Mystikal for instance. That was my "walk to the plate" song in high school, problem was when they burned the cd they grabbed the unedited version, which was never a problem as you only heard the beginning before they turned it off for at bats. However during a tournament one spring we were cleaning up the field between games and had 3 classes of middle schoolers + their teachers watching the tournament games. We just let the cd play as we cleaned up the field for the next game, well needless to say when "my" song came blasting over the speakers between games with all of us "working" the field there were a few pissed teachers...lmao still makes me smile thinking about them screaming to turn it off and NO ONE was in the press box to hear them, song was half over when one of us made it up to the pressbox... good times

Ahh that's another instance, OKM. Our team's warmup song for basketball games in high school. We had this brand new, state of the art stadium. We called it the 'Mini Garden', as it mimicked Madison Square Garden. Pro basketball hoops, like the ones they used in the NBA, state of the art sound system, huge scoreboard hanging from the ceiling, center court.

We'd come out in our warm up attire, ready to rock. Jay-Z 'Moment of Clarity' was our song of choice. We'd come out and do our lay up drill, feeling amazing. Crowd was piling in, cheerleaders were hanging, and we had one section of the stands devoted to our classmates. Ahh great times.

Here's an idea. If you've got a story about a certain song, link us to the song. It'll add more depth to your post, allowing us to hear and and possible feel the same things.

Ahh G, I'm into anything and everything my brother. DMB, Jimmy Buffett, Ice Cube, BlackStar, Dilated Peoples, Fuel, Incubus, Godsmack, Disturbed, Seether, Darius Rucker (formerly hootie), bob/ziggy marley. It all depends on the mood I'm in. A few weeks ago I ventured into a Country bar up in Canada. Ever since then, I've been on a country kick. Soon that will pass and I'll be onto another genre for a bit. I appreciate all forms of music.

As for that gym, yeah it was something else. Funny thing is .. we actually partitioned to have our last few days in our old high school gym. The term 'home court advantage' is dead on. Three years in that gym and we knew all the ins/outs. Our final year in that new facility was odd. We opted to forgo the 'mini garden' and instead play in the gym in which we grew as a team. I'm happy we did that.

Lately I've been listening to the more old school rock genre on my blackberry; van halen, pantera, etc.

Kids today have no clue how good they have it. Back when I was young, I was rocking AOL 3.0 on a dialup modem. Forums were just up-and-coming. And as for me, I didn't even know what a 'forum' was. Shit, I just went on AOL to talk to my friends and use Napster. Sure, I'm far younger than some on here, but you catch my drift. I can't stand how arrogant some kids are nowadays. With all the information they have available to them, they should all be built like trucks. I patrol the boards on a daily basis, as per my duties as a rep. I can't stand seeing fucking joe-schmo, sitting at 150lbs, skinny fat, arguing about the minuscule differences in the forms of certain ingredients within a product. And no, I'm not referring to Animal products only.

Look, I'm 24 years old. I first picked up a weight at 14 years old. Did I know what I was doing back then? Hell no. Do I know what I'm doing now? Yeah .. I think I've gained just a bit of wisdom over the past decade. Use me for advice, but don't try to preach to me about how you're 17 and Animal Test worked wonders for you. Huh? Didn't I tell you to avoid Animal Test? Didn't I tell you to opt for Real Gains, or maybe M-stak once you turned 18? O, right. What does Aggression know? He just represents Animal, he talks to pro athletes through Animal, he's been on stage before, but he doesn't know as much as you, Mr. Schmo. I get this all the time. People will ask for my advice, asking me what's best for them to do. They come to me for a reason. No, I'm not tooting my own horn here. That's not me, and that's not what I'm about. But obviously I have some knowledge seeping out from under my dome, and they recognize that. So I give them sound advice, partial to their needs, age, etc. What do they do? In one ear out the other. Then they turn the pages on the latest magazine and see that 'X' product does this, or 'X' product makes you do this. O Shit! I'm buying that! Hey, Joseph, ever notice that 'results not typical' disclaimer on EVERY ad in EVERY magazine? O yeah, you only saw 'Gain ___ lbs in ___ weeks', and that's all you needed to know.

some are worse than others.. They're all decent kids, but they seem to think they know better. Kid comes up to me the other day and asks for some help. Months ago he asked for advice. I told him how to gain lean mass, the right way; heavy/hard training and consistent eating. He told me he eats 'well'. Of course I didn't believe him. He claimed he ate this and that, 6 times a day. Yeah .. right. Still, I was niCe and did what I felt was the right thing to do; offer a guiding hand and help him out. Now he comes up to me and tells me he took this and that prohormone, and his body is all fucked up. What? Didn't I tell you to stay away from them? Didn't I offer up my own experiences for 'sources'. Dude, go to a doctor. Kid tells me he doesn't think its that bad, but he was just a bit nervous. He looked 'off'. Actually, he looked like a kid who was just coming off a cycle that he shouldn't have fucked with. This kid needed help, so I started asking questions. I believe it was question 2 or 3 that was: "What's your PCT'' .. his response; 'What's that'. Ohhh boyy.

Yup. My mother is close friends with a pharmacist. My mom always complains/asks her about protein intake, being that I eat about 400g+ per day. She came to the house to talk to me about it, telling me I should only be eating 50g per day. Anything more, and it will damage my kidneys. I then asked her if she eats steak. She aptly replied, 'Yes, I occasionally have a steak'. I then went on to tell her that a 6oz steak has roughly 50g of protein in it. So then I said ''Well, then can I assume that the steak meal is your only meal of the day? Because if you ate anything else, it'd over the 'limit'. Speechless.

Yeah, I knew what ya meant, brother. I try my best to steer the younger gents in the right direction. But it doesn't always end well.

I think it's partially because parents and society tells everyone they are winners, pumps up their self-esteem. Self-esteem is important, sometimes you can go overborad, like when everyone who plays organized sports as a kid gets a trophy, win or lose. When I was younger playing organized ball, you had winners and you had losers. Winners won recognition and trophies, losers didn't. If you lost one season, you worked harder. Now, everyone gets a trophy. What's the incentive to work harder? Subconsciously, you're told you're a winner and get a trophy even when you lost. You have parents who want to be best friends with their kids, who spoil them. Maybe it's because more and more households have both parents working and there's guilt about that. Who knows? But as kids become more connected to the internet, they seem to become more disconnected to reality.

Yeah, I agree here. For some reason, this reminds me of when people get into fights (don't ask me how I made this connection). Back in the day, in a one-on-one fight, if you lost, you went home and licked your wounds. You swallowed your pride and lived to fight another day. Nowadays, if one gets their ass beat in a fight, they end up suing the 'winner' for cost of damages/medical bills. WHAT?

Short story; I have a close friend that got into a fight. St. Patty's Day, Seaside Heights, about 2 years ago. He was with his G/F and stopped at a Port-A-John. These two kids behind him thought it would be funny to rock the john as he was inside. Obviously these kids were a bit on the hammered side. He came out, on 2 separate occasions, to tell them to stop, in a nice tone. The second time, he warned them to stop. My buddy was known to have a mean left hook. These kids found out the hard way. The third time they rocked the ship was the last time. He came out, took one swing, and broke the one kids nose, cheekbone, eye socket. The 'loser' ended up suing my buddy for the cost to fix his surgically repaired face. Bullshit.

WHAT?

I see the connection Aggression. It's because accountability as a concept has become more and more foreign in our society. If something bad happens to you, it's not your fault. It's not due to bad decisions you've made. It's not because of your own stupidity or misguided choices. No, it's because of someone or something else. Yeah, I willingly got into that fight, knowing what could happen. But I got injured and now I'm going to sue. But it's not just kids. It's adults too. So many politicians today. It's not my fault. I didn't know I had to report that trip donated by that corporation. It's my assistant's fault. Athletes too. Yeah, I did some bad things, cheated on my wife multiple times. Hurt my family. But I can't help myself and I still want my endorsement contracts. The people our youth look up to, when they engage in the same kinds of behavior where they don't take responsibility for their actions--what are the youth learning?

**claps** well done sir. If I had a dollar for everytime one of my relatives/coworkers told me I need to stop lifting because when I get older all of my muscle will "turn" to fat...lets just say I'd be doing a little less working and a little more partying in Vegas...

HaHa. Most of the people around me are perfectly fine with it. Every holiday, they always same 'damn Adam, you're huge'. They see an issue of MD lying around ask me if I wanna be that big. I just grin, lol. That one lady though .. damn .. I can't stand her, lol.

The last line is how its all summed up; B. Our youth. They see star athletes, and their older brethren doing these things and find it acceptable, so they in turn do it as well. Its a slippery slope. I say it all the time. I wish I grew up when my parents did. I always hear stories of 'back in the days'. The world just seemed more honest/raw back then. Eh, maybe I'm only seeing one side of the story, or maybe I'm just being ignorant. Whatever.

OCP- "I really just don't see the point in all of that weight training stuff. I'm all about functional training...that's why I run marathons"

We could go on for 100+ pages about the knocks we get for consuming large amounts of protein per meal. When I was dieting for my show, people were so confused. I'd tell them that I was bulking up to gain muscular weight, and then I was going to slim down for my show. They couldn't understand why I would spend time gaining weight just to drop it off in a few months.

''I want to gain muscle, and then lose body fat, but with building muscle comes body fat. Once I build up all the muscle, I'll diet down all the fat while keeping the muscle"

Still ... it never made sense to them ...

One of the greatest things I've accomplished in this life so far is that fact that I've found myself. You heard me right. Some people spend decades trying to figure out who they are, what they're about, what their purpose in life is. Some may never find out, and some opt to be someone else in order to be viewed in a better light. Well, from personal experience, if you stray away from your true-self, you're only fucking yourself over.

'I'm a freebird at heart, and I'll never forget the griminess of home'

One of my best friends lays claim to that quote. I told him I was going to get that tattooed on myself. Truer words have never be spoken. What does it mean? The best part about it is that it can mean a whole bunch of things, depending on how you read it, and what you're about as a person.

Who am I? My name is Adam. I'm a 24yr old bodybuilder who lives in a town that most people spend their winters dreaming about; Toms River (Seaside Heights). Our town's personal slogan is; 'our life is your vacation' and 'Bennies go home'. If you don't know what the word 'bennie' means, then you are one. I have a close group of friends I would trust my life with. I live for the summers. Nothing beats a solid morning workout followed up by a day spent on the beach. Good old boogie boarding, throwing a tennis ball, having a few coronas, listening to Jimmy Buffett. I rock boat shoes year-round and my favorite nights are spend in shorts, boats shoes, and a hoody at some dive bar with a friend, having a nice cold beer. I've stayed in on weekends and played hours of videos games with having a few beers with friends .. at 24. Nothing beats a Saturday morning when you have a nice cup of coffee and read the paper. I'm not worried about how I look when I go out at night. I don't go out 'trying to get ass'. I've been rocking the same pair of work boots for 8 years. Yes .. 8. I have no issues with going to a bar wearing said boots, jeans, an Animal T and my Animal skully because who the fuck cares? I'm comfortable, and I'm going to enjoy myself.

What's the point of that whole paragraph? That's me. In a nutshell. If you don't like it, that's cool. You do you, and I'll do me. No disrespect.

The problem I have is with the fake motherfuckers out there in this world. There are several different persona's and style that one would try to fit into. That right there is the problem. Why fit in? Stand out; be your own person. You act as if you're a surfer, yet you've never been in the ocean. You act like a thug gangster, yet you live in the safest town in the country (yes, not making this one up). If that is really you, then fine. No beef. But I see too many people just trying to fit into society in fear that being 'themselves' will shun them from the rest of the world.

Not everyone gets caught up in this, but I've seen it happen to a many. I have personally been caught up in this tragedy, so I'm calling myself out here. Back in my early college years, I was the one 'trying to fit it'. I'd spend big loot on the big names of clothing. I was getting a fresh haircut from the real boyz at the barbershop. You know the deal. I was Adam, but I was fake. I didn't feel comfortable. It wasn't me, yet I was trying to 'fit in' and be acceptable. Fuck acceptance. You want to be accepted, see the movie.

At one point, I gave it all up and just laid it all to rest. I start being Adam; the real Adam and I haven't turned back since, nor will I. Who cares what you look like when you go out at night? If someone has a problem with it, then they're obviously not spending their time wisely. Approach a girl being 'you'. If she doesn't like, so what? Walk away. Big deal.

Be happy with yourself. Don't get caught up in what other people think. The only thoughts that matter are the ones brewing between your ears.

This may fly over most of your heads, and that's fine. To others, this may touch a soft spot, or bring up memories of a friend, or even you yourself.

I'm not 'guido'. I'm not 'surfer'. I'm not 'thug'. I'm not 'goth'. I'm Adam.

Find yourself, if you haven't already.

Its the toughest when you're young, as you're so impressionable. You're almost forced to take sides. I remember when I was in Elementary School. Kids used to randomly come up to me and ask ''Hip Hop or Alternative''. I was so young, I didn't know what the fuck they meant. I used to respond 'Freestyle', lol. But it starts at such a young age, its almost impossible to avoid. From the get go, you're suppose to choose a path. The whole point of the post is to find the unpaved road and pave it yourself.

Canibus - Second Round KO for the above lyric (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z63cQKWlDgQ)

In honor of one of my favorite hip hop artists of all time, this rant will be dedicated to the laziness of the hip hop/rap genre today.

Now .. first off .. can we declare Sir Biggie Smalls as the greatest rapper of all time? Or did he just not live long enough to fade off? In the past, I would argue that he was the greatest rapper ever, that no one would ever come close to his lyricism. But then someone stated that he just didn't live long enough to produce shit music. That got me thinking. Take a look at a few other artists that have been around the block.

Jay-Z
His first album is one that I consistently spin; Reasonable Doubt. The beats were slow, heavy, and firm. The lyrics were great, the themes of each song was relevant, and the whole album flowed. As the years went on, he came out with his 'In my LifeTime' series, which were all pretty solid records with several hits on each of them. Since then, he's produced multiple records, all of which sold well. I wasn't a fan of his Blueprint albums, yet I enjoyed the Black Album, where seemed to come back at it harder than in his previous works.

50 Cent
Dude had a lot of hype with his underground album. Guess who's back; it was fire. Then 'Get Rich or Die Trying' came out. This album, in my opinion, was incredible. The beats, the lyrics, everything was great. In fact, I still have this CD in my case in my car, and I consistently pop it in and listen to the whole album. His last few albums weren't as great as his original. These guys tend to become more 'mainstream' as they climb the ladder of fame. C'mon guys, Know your Roots.

Eminem
Same thing can be said about Slim. I won't get into details; you know where this is going.

To me, a great album is one that you can listen to from track 1, all the way to the end, without needing to skip songs. Ready to Die had this effect, as did Life After Death. Reasonable Doubt and GRODT were the same. Did Biggie just not have enough time to fall off like all the other artists who went downhill after their first 1-2 albums? Who knows. But damn I missing hear his voice over the speakers. If you're a Christopher Wallace fan, I strongly recommend seeing the move 'Notorious'. I caught it a few weeks ago and loved it. Why? Because it was like listening to his albums with visuals. His albums told his life story, and the movie just enabled you to 'see' it all.

Let it be known that these posts are solely my opinion. You may totally agree or totally disagree. Want to speak your side? By all means, go ahead. Spark up a nice lil' debate!

As for rap music today .... c'mon now guys. I had the idea to write this post when I was driving home from work yesterday. I was flipping through the channels and stopped on Hip Hop Nation. There was some whack music blaring by some dude named 'OJ Da Juice Man'. Really? OJ Da Juice Man? Come the fuck on! Gucci Mane? What the fuck?!

Rappers today have no heart. They lack the lyrics that come from deep within, that tell a story. All they're concerned about is how their beat sounds, or how their voice sounds, or how they look. Autotune is bullshit. Lyrics don't matter anymore, as long as the beat is hot enough to play at clubs. They're more worried about their appearance than their lyrics. Look at BIG, Big L, and Big Pun. They had 'big' in their names for a reason; they were fucking tanks. They are also considered 3 of the best rappers of all time.

One of my favorite albums is Sticky Fingaz; BlackTrash: The Autobiography of Kirk Jones. This album from back in the day tells an entire story from start to finish. From a guy getting outta prison, meeting up with his friends, robbing a jewelery store, running from the cops, getting locked up, dieing, etc. Now that's something worth listening to.

I'm just so sick and tired of all these rappers coming outta the woodwork with bullshit songs/albums. Everyday it seems like there's another rapper that gets a record deal b/c he's spitting about 'make money, fuck bitches, smoke blunts'. Get the fuck out of my face with that nonsense.

Take a look at the old NWA. These guys didn't give a shit and sold records. They talked about what they went through, how they lived day-to-day. They told it like it was and in doing so, created a movement out on the West Coast. We need this shit back in the mix

Also, gotta mention my other favorite cats who have kept it cool as the years brought down the genre; Common, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Nas (1/2 and 1/2), Gang Starr, Lupe Fiasco (a newer dude with good flavor). That's all I can think of at the moment.

peace.

When it comes to helping others out in the supplement industry, there are two phrases that I can't stand to hear when talking to the 'uniformed' people. These people approach you from all angles; forums, phone, text, face to face, etc. They know you know a bit and that you've been around the block so they come to you and ask a question, yet act like they know just as much as you, or more because .....

"I read online that ..."

You read it online. That says a lot. The internet is filled with so much garbage that you don't know what to believe and what to toss out. It reminds me of Michael Scott from 'The Office'. He looks up everything on Wikipedia. In one episode, he prints a list of 'How to gain the upper hand in a meeting', or something along those lines. Its when he's in a meeting with Darryl discussing his raise. Here is a direct quote from the show, speaking of Wikipedia, "“Wikipedia is the best thing ever. Anyone in the world, can write anything they want about any subject. So you know you are getting the best possible information.” – Michael Scott. In this case, you can replace 'Wikipedia' with the word 'Internet' and it still plays true. Shit, I can publish a website right now and have all the content state that anabolic steroids are perfectly healthy on the body, and that zero side effects are associated with them. By tomorrow, you'll get some youngin' say to you, 'Hey, steroids aren't that bad, I read online that ..'

"They say that ... "

This is pretty much the same thing as the previous 'phrase that pays'. I love hearing kids say, 'Well, they say that creatine needs to be loaded'. Who the fuck are 'they'? Ohh, I get it. IAMHUGE99 said that creatine needs to be loaded and cycled for best results and DBOL123 says that preworkout supplements are considered cheating. C'mon now. I've said it before, and I'll say it again; I wish we could go back in time, to the 50s, 60s, etc., where there were no forums, no internet sites, no cellphones.

I feel we're way too connected in certain aspects nowadays. Remember if you called your friend's house and they weren't there? Remember walking to your friends house with a basketball to play one-on-one for a few hours on a summer day? Now you have 12 year old kids texting their friends while they are on their way over with their PS3 controller for a few hours of Call of Duty. Go the fuck outside and get some fresh air. Sweat a little bit. It won't kill you.

The internet and 'they' have become too rampant. I agree that technology has in fact had very positive outcomes when you look at the big players. Buildings, materials, transportation, cars, etc. Although I'd still rather have a 1972 Chevelle 454 over a 2010 Viper (serious). But I think technology on the 'personal' level has made most of us numb. Whenever we need to know something, what do we do? We 'google' it. Damn, get to a library and read a book or something. Grab a cup of coffee on a Saturday morning and read the paper instead of browsing CNN.com. I love how people 'lose themselves' if they lose/break their cellphones/blackberries. Dude .. c'mon.

Go back to raw reality.

Reason 2 when we have family get together, sister en-law family, my brother en-law is ALWAYS on his damn blackberry. We all know such people. But in all fairness, I can be that person too. In short, none of us are perfect, but it's how hard we strive for perfection that matters...... And whether or not we can acknowledge our own shortcomings--sometimes the hardest thing to do.

I wanted to post this here and get this off my chest. One thing that drives me absolutely nuts is people picking on or making fun of other people. Know what I mean? High school you got the nerd type kid and the jocks shove him and call him about 5 different names. When someone comes up to you and says , "Look at that that piece of shit over there, god, his (insert your choice here) is so stupid. His nose is soooo big hahah" That shit drives me up the fucking wall. Like on youtube this guy, (Pruane2Forever), posts videos. 99% of the comments on the wall are "god your retarded, your a fucking nerd, when you gonna hit puberty?" I just wanna beat the living shit out of those little pussy as fucks that have the nerve to say that shit. You think he chose to look like that? You think he had a choice what his voice sounded like? etc. etc.

Yeah yeah, you and your buddies may joke around with each other and say shit or whatever, but that's not what I'm talking about.

Anybody feelin' me on this?

I feel ya, K. I went through high school and never made fun of those people. I was part of the 'jock crowd', being that I played Varsity basketball, but that didn't mean I thought I was better than anyone else. I'd hang with my bball team, and then other times I'd hang out with those very kids that some of my teammates would hate on for whatever reason. I never cared. Back then, and to this day, I've never cared what others thought of me. You don't like my shirt? That's cool, because you're not the one wearing it. Hatin' on my shoes? Funny, cuz I like 'em.

Some people are vain, and some people have to boost their own self esteem by shooting down others. Hey, if that's how you have to get by on a daily basis .. then whatever.

On a side note relating to YouTube: I like how that one person (the username escapes me) goes onto every single bodybuilding-type video and just types 'steroids' or something simliar. Ignorance at its finest. The people who are educated in the sport, or even just know a little bit, they know that steroids play a game when at the elite level. But c'mon now. All of us on here know that they only get you so far. Diet and training has and always will be the most important aspects.

The term 'hardgainer' should be erased from the English language. To me, the word 'hardgainer' is a delicate word for an 'under-eater'. "I need to take all these products b/c I'm a typical hardgainer." No, you're not. You just don't want to eat enough food.

A little more of a writeup will follow. I used to think I was this 'hardgainer', until I found out what a 'real' mass gaining diet looked like. So let this portion of the thread be a learning tool for all those who still call themselves a 'hardgainer'. You want to know what to use to help you gain more weight being a hardgainer? A fucking fork.

So true bro so damn true. I remember when i first started lifting i was taking supplements like crazy (non-animal) and was only eating 3 times a day. My gains were horrible. I made them but they were few and far between. When i joined up here, i would read G's posts about EAT EAT EAT. And i kept thinking why would i want to add more fat to my body. Then i learned about eating RIGHT. Adding vital good calories to my diet and making sure my body was getting its necessary intake. Once i bumped up my eating to 6x my gains were explosive to say the least. 170-175 before discovering the tree of knowledge (Animal boards), 210 today and gaining.

Amen dude. I look back when I called myself a 'bodybuilder', yet I was eating 2-3 meals per day and making up for calories with shakes. It wasn't until I approached my soon to be coach about dieting/training. He gave me a sample diet to follow. I told him I was a hardgainer. He asked me what I ate and then told me that I wasn't a hardgainer, but I just didn't' eat enough. I got on his diet and everything clicked.

I used to think I was a hard gainer too. 6' foot and a scrawny 160 pounds. I do have a fast metabolism, but as long as you fucking EAT you will get bigger. I went from 160 pounds to 206 pounds during the off season for highschool football and I thought I would never be able to gain weight due to my metabolism. Just EAT.

I try to explain to the younger generation as living proof. I tell them that I've messed around with some shit in the past, not knowing was it was. I try to tell them that it did nothing for me. Coming from someone who has already been down that road, I tend to get through a bit better, but not always.

Everyone has that one dude who stands out in your mind as the 'guy you wanted to emulate' when you were young. There I was, maybe 15-16 years old, looking like a deer caught in headlights as I walked around the gym. I went through the motions, tried to bench press big weight, neglected legs, but trained my biceps as if the world depended on it.

As i glanced around the gym between sets, i took notice of all the other big dudes in there. i studied them, watched their every move. If they did 8 reps, i did 8 reps. If they turned their wrist out when curling a DB, i followed suit. Shit, I even peaked into gym bags as I walked past certain people, lol. But there was one dude who I'll always remember as standing out above the rest back when I was just starting out. His name was Captain Kurk.

This dude was a sight to see. Walking into the gym, he stood out, very easily. Let's set the stage here. He was about 6'2, blond, slicked back hair (ala old Jay Cutler), tanned up, those tight 'photoshoot' type pants, a fanny pack, and he usually worse a sweatshirt with the sleeves/neck cut off with a string tank underneath. Dude was a beast. For all I know, he could have been a competitive bodybuilder, but at the time, I didn't even know you could compete in something like that.

He'd walk around the gym and minded his own business, pushing beastly weight. I watched him if he happened to be in the gym while I was there. I'd watch his routine and then duplicate it the next time that body part came up. I remember one time seeing him reach into his gym bag. He took out a small tupperware bowl of white powder. Dude just took a scoop of it right into his mouth, dry as hell, and then squirted a bit of water in there to wash it down. I thought this was a 'freak' type of thing. Yeah .. I tried it a few days later, lol. I used creatine; not sure what he used, haha.

Dude also had his own personalized belt, with the back being engraved to say 'Captain Kurk'. He'd hit his workout, walk out, get into his blacked out Lincoln Mark VIII, and drive away. He was one of my earliest influences in this game. Maybe not his outfit, but definitely his work ethnic and overall beastliness in the gym. Big ups to you, Captain Kurk.

Who was one of your earliest influences?

PIJW
05-07-10, 12:01 pm
You got Captain Kurk, im gonna have to say my dad. From a young age i knew he lifted and competed at the amateur level. He had wrestling trophies and BB trophies around the house but never knew why he stopped till a few years ago. The closest gym to our home town was 45mins 1 way. He stopped so he could be home with me. Once they got a gym he continued to lift but no competently. He is currently still lift and guides me in the right direction checking my workout on here and asking me about it. He did the same thing when i wrestled in school guiding me and teaching me. Now i want to be able to do the same thing for my son as well as fill in my dad shoes one day back on the stage for him. He is my greatest influence and i have even promised him a trip to the Arnold next year so he can relive his glory days.

If you read this thanks dad.

I'll probably get laughed at but i don't give a shit. Back in college there were a bunch of us that watched professional wrestling. We even had a little website going. Anyways, i wasn't really into the gym until Triple H showed up on the scene and was completely jacked. After following him a bit i found out the gym is a religion to this guy. He even had a custom embroidered belt that read "GAME OVER" on the back. Before i was into Animal, that's who got me going. Once i became an "Animal" i never looked back and to this day i still think of him as inspiration but its the guys in here that i look up to. Ghost, Aggs, TTL, House, the list goes on.

So much blame to go around, I don't know where to begin. But regardless of who is to blame, the impact will be significant both environmentally and commercially. In my blog, "Gadfly", I was musing on the subject of repetitions, how when something is repeated enough, it becomes fact or the truth. I remember early on people high up said there's only 5,000 barrels per day going into the water. That number kept getting repeated over and over again in the media, until for many, it became the truth. Now we are hearing it's not 5,000 but could be 100,000.

God. I've been asking for the heart of a warrior, an aggressive and passionate soul. I'm ready to be the man I'm meant to be...If you guys haven't read the book Wild at Heart by John Eldredge I invite you to check it out. It embodies many of the Animal ideas and truly helps to explain why a man is constantly on a search for his calling, and why deep down when a man's name is mentioned he doesn't want it be spoken of as "Oh yeah, Alex...he's such a nice guy" but more like "Oh yeah, Alex...he's a dangerous man."

Truly an easy read and worth it.

That's what's been clawing at my soul.

I will definitely be checking out that book. I truly agree with that last statement. Most find their 'calling', eventually. Others float on through life and have no luck. Others just don't care. In the end, it all depends on what type of person you are. I'd much rather be labeled as something similar to 'he's a dangerous man' as opposed to 'he's a nice guy', for sure.

There is so much debate in this world over the dreaded word, 'steroids'.

What sparked this passage was that thread on here, titled 'Bodybuilding Role Models'. Later in the thread, people got to question how most of us all seemed to pick the top notch IFBB players; Cutler, Branch, Kai, etc., and not the 'all natural' bodybuilders out there, who seem to get less publicity because they aren't on the sauce.

To me, I don't care whether or not someone chooses to sauce up. I have plenty of friends who recreationally use the stuff just to 'look good'. I have other friends who use the use stuff to compete at a high level. I don't look down on either of them. Personally, I don't give out extra kudos to anyone who competes naturally. Across some other forums, people always seem to type out that statement as somewhat of a stamp of approval; 'Well I'm all natural'. Yeah? So? Want a cookie? I respect both natural and non-natural bodybuilders alike, the same, right down the middle. Being 'natural' is only a small fraction of the pie. Everything else is the same; the training, the dieting, the cardio, the stress, the hunger, etc. Just because you tell me you're natural doesn't mean you earn more respect from me.

But what defines natural? To me, its too tough to call. People go as far as saying that using creatine makes you 'unnatural'. A natural anabolic hormone booster can strip you of your title. Of course the typical anabolic steroids, HG, insulin, etc., are always the first substances dropped as making someone 'unnatural', but when you delve deeper, where does it end? Certain professional natural organizations claim that you have to be 'clean' for, say 5 years. So you can sauce up for 10 years straight, get to that 280lb monster at 3% body fat, and then take 5 years away while maintaining that size to the best of your ability and compete in that show? Yup. Certain shows allow more than others when it comes to 'gear'. So which one is 'right'?

Bodybuilding isn't the only place this word gets brought up. Look at baseball. The infamous press conference with Mark McGwire showcased a fancy bottle of Andro in his locker room. Since then, shit has been going wild. Steroid crackdowns. How about that huge list of 'unnamed players' who apparently took the 'roids and were never informed about them failing the test until certain names were leaked. And what names? A-Rod; one of the best players in the game. No one gives a shit about jo-schmo playing center field who only has 2 career HRs. Every year we have a few guys who get plucked and suspended for taking some sort of product. The name slips my mind, but one particular pitcher last year was suspended for the first few games because he took 6-oxo and didn't know it would show up on a test. Where is the line?

Fuck it. I like seeing big mother fuckers on the baseball diamond. I have a few 'juicebaggers' on my fantasty team. And you know what? They're putting up big numbers. I'm OK with it. My brother rips on me b/c I have 2 players that are putting up solid HRs, RBIs, etc, and those numbers are much higher than last year. Mark McGwire was a big dude. So was Jose Conseco. Although I don't agree with what he did (name-dropping), he looked like a beast-truck standing at that plate, with his sleeves tight around his arms.

Here's another thing..
Barry Bonds was flagged as a 'cheater' because he took gear. But he received more flack than joe-schmo playing shortstop. Why? Because he broke Hank's HR record. Alex Rodriguez got hammered with negative publicity, way more so than others. Why? Because he is one of the best players in the game. Roger Clemens. Same deal. That's like flagging Jay Cutler for steroids, but not Michael Kefalianos (finished 16th in '09 O). They're both professionals, but Cutler is the more 'talented' one. How is that fair? If you're cracking down on steroids in baseball, get EVERYONE. But in the end, there is no stopping it in sports. People will always find a way to beat the system. If product A gets flagged, let a few weeks go by and product B will come along, new, improved, and able to pass the testing process. Its a vicious cycle.

If steroids were never labeled 'illegal', would we even have prohormones?

Some people get upset over the fact that the juiced up IFBB pros get more attention than the all-natural competitors. The IFBB pros who come in first place might get a check for $30,000 while the natural pro getting first place might being home a check for $6,000. Who is to blame? Look in the mirror. There is your answer.

The general human population is to blame. We as human beings love to see the 'large and in charge' people. The freak shows. The guys at 300lbs ripped with abs. Its human nature to be attracted to and 'awed' over the sight of something that seems inhuman. As I mentioned in the above post, when it comes to baseball, we bashed Barry Bonds for his use, but as he crept closer to the HR record, what did we do? We started buying Giant's jerseys, we bought tickets to the games he was playing. If he came to the East coast to play the Mets, we went to see him hit another dinger. Same thing with the McGuire/Sosa race. We all watched television, giving them higher ratings because we wanted to see them belt a 500ft shot into the nosebleeds.

With bodybuilding, again, we like to see those big men. I respect both of them, right down the middle, as I mentioned before. I've competed, I know what it takes. Natural or not, stepping on stage is a huge accomplishment. I respect you either way. Do I feel that natural bodybuilders get the short end of the stick? Yup. But until the general population decides steer away from the 'mutants', then keep your mouths shut. Because there's no one to blame but yourselves.

Where do you draw the line where and who says what can and can't be taken. I GUARANTEE you someones taking something that hasn't been banned yet and is accomplishing what others can't do yet. Whether it be in strength or recovery.

I wasn't aware of the Cushing incident, but it fits right into the same scenarios. That pitcher I mentioned had no idea why he tested positive. He was blindsided. People could argue that it was his fault for not checking it out, but in the end, I can't really blame him. Why would the average consumer think that a product that can be bought in a retail store has illegal ingredients? Its like all those younger kids out there messing with PH's. Their whole argument is, 'I bought it at X-store, its fine'. Yeah ... sure it is. Can't blame the store employees either. Most 'supplement' store employees aren't aware of the ingredients in each product.

So who is to blame? Is it A-Rod and Barry Bonds for taking 'au jus' and screwing with the minds of the young? Is it Congress' fault for outlawing steroids years ago? Or is it just human nature and evolving technology that we blame? And if its the 3rd, can we really put the blame on our evolving technology? Are we really going to sit here and bash the innovations of technology? Of our evolving minds as human beings?

See there's lot of ways you can go with this. Let's face it supplements these days are getting more and more complicated with ingreidients that are being thrown into them. We're finding advances in science every minute. There's something new on the table just waiting to get the green light every minute. Because of that fact it's easy for me to believe guys like Cushing or Ramirez when they say they didn't know that particular ingreidient was in the powder or pills they took. Is it ignorance? Yeah because you need to check everything that goes into your body to "play by the rules". Am i going to not follow these guys anymore and call them cheaters ummm hell to the no. We're going to see more of these cases pop up every year. Mark my words. Like you said Aggs, if something gets banned something else will show up. It technology and the advances we're making as human beings. It's in our nature. Advance or die. This will never end. This tug of war between deciding what is right and wrong and coming up with new ways to improve the athlete.

Or harm the athlete who is too ignorant to really look into something that is 'OK b/c its sold at a retail store'?

I'll post something up later today/tomorrow. And it will serve as a perfect segway into my next writeup as well.

The majority of us 'locals' boycotted the show, set up facebook groups against it, etc, etc. Fuck that. I watched it every week, laughed, loved it. They ran marathons of it during MDW. I didn't watch those. That's the type of show where you watch the episode once and its good enough, haha.

Apparently they did the first part of Season 2 down in Florida. Word on the street is that they were suppose to film the last portion of Season 2 back in Seaside. I doubt that'll be a good move, as everyone knows who they are now and it wouldn't be a 'natural environment' anymore. Although 'The Situation' was at the Aztec on Saturday. My brother made it a point to go there.

Here we go. The weekend that all the North Jersey/NY cats drool over. They been lying in wait, all winter. A few months prior to this weekend, they start pumping up at the gym again, saucing up the wa-zoo and getting their game face on. I'm telling you, its hilarious. People update their status on FB with countdowns. Wow. Really?

Surprisingly, I didn't hit much traffic Friday. I hit the gym right after work and made my way home with little-to-no backups aside from the normal pockets. License plates ranged from NY, Vermont, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia, etc. I actually hit up a place called 'Captain Hook's' bar late Friday night. It was pleasantly dead; the usual type of crowd was in attendance. That was nice. I guess everyone was over at 'Boo and Hemingways. Pulling into this town, its a sight to see. Its almost like 'People Of WalMart' meets the Jersey Shore. If you've never been to www.peopleofwalmart.com', I suggest you check it out. Young kids hanging on the streets in groups, shirts off, sunglasses, you know the rap sheet by now. To me, its old. To people seeing it for the first time, its a circus. I'm really kicking myself in the ass for not taking candid pictures. Oh well. We have all summer for that, don't we?

Memorial Day Weekend for these dudes is like Christmas for the average person. As I walked through the boardwalk on Saturday, its sad to see how people conduct themselves. You have guys walking in bunches, again the shirts are off. Shit, how are the people gonna see their ripped abbies or their vascular arms if they're wearing a shirt? God forbid if a girl sees his eyes tho! Quick! Put on them shades, brah! Sorry, sorry, I got a little sidetracked. I can't help it when I think back to the sights. This is one of those things where words can only justify the reality to an extent. You'd just have to see it for yourself.

These dudes treat the women walking by like they're coming off the assembly line. This is probably the one and only thing that bothers me about these so called 'mdw douches'. A unsuspecting girl would walk by a bunch of guys and the 'bravest one', I used that term loosely/sarcastically, would grab her arm and yell something like 'hey babe, c'mere a second'. Dude. C'mon. You're lucky I don't crack you in the jaw. If it wasn't for the position I'm in and the fact that I would immediately be tackled to the ground by 10 officers, you'd be missing some teeth and sippin' through a straw. If that particular girl didn't give them the time of day, they simply eyed the boards for the next victim. Can't throw 100% of the blame at the fellas though. You got these girls with skirts up their ass, titties hanging out all over the place. Hunny, you're asking for it. There's a difference between 'going out all dressed up', and 'going out looking like a slutbag whore'. Its a fine line, but its a line nonetheless.

My favorite is when you see all the girlfriends get excited for these 'macho men' to come down to the shore for the summer. They primp themselves to look gorgeous and attractive. They like the black hair, juiced bods, sunglasses, and tanned/tatted skin. They meet up with all their summer friends at their summer houses and get hammered all weekend. They met/hook up with random guys from up north and then get upset/mad/pissed/emotional when the guy doesn't give them the time of day after the first night slam session. Shit, I wouldn't either. I don't want to be with a girl who gives it up on the first date. I mean I'll hit it and quit it, sure, but don't expect me to label you as 'mine' for the summer. Have some class.

I also like watching certain dudes whittle away to nothing as the summer progresses. If you watched the show, did you take notice on how Ronnie and Mike flattened out over the course of the show? They're all the same. They build themselves up to look good (and these guys did double-time knowing they'd be on TV) and then they shrink away and bloat out from all the booze and late night stops at Steaks Unlimited. Hey! Gimmie the Seaside Tony; a cheesesteak with cheeseballs inside. Damn, I won't lie. Those steak sandwiches are fucking delicious. Yum. Anyway, you want to differentiate the 'real bodybuilder' from the 'summer fuckhead'? Take notice of the vascularity. The real bodybuilders are vascular and legit lean. The summer fuckheads are big, may be ripped, but lack the actual vasucularity. Why? B/c they're all synthetic; no diet. I won't knock everyone though. Some dudes who come down look stage worthy and they're just enjoying summer. Likewise, my friend. Likewise.

This year wasn't as bad as I had originally anticipated. As I said, I personally don't mind these people coming down. If it wasn't for them, that town would go to shit. Some of these bars are only open 2 days per week (Bamboo). Really, this place is only open 104 days per year. They have a huge lot one block from the beach. That place does HUGE business in the summer. To be open only 104 days per year and to base yourself on that property and afford it, ya gotta give props to the summer visitors. Hemingways is also another spot only open 2-3x/week. Same deal. I went to Bamboo on Sunday night. It wasn't terrible. Sure it was crowded, but in the end, I saw more local people than out-of-towners. Maybe everybody skipped out on Sunday night's madness to get home early. Who knows. I don't care.

All I know is, while north NJ/NY get ready for a summer in Seaside, I'll get ready for a summer spent at the dive bars. The places where the bartender knows your name, where you see the same people, in the same bar stools, with the same drinks, day in, day out. That's the places I truly love. In fact, I'll go to a place like that tonight ...

some place like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sL7ifSxp9xU

I touched upon the whole 'guy hooking up with girls' thing in this post. Next post will delve deeper into what I see as a generation that may destroy mankind in the end.

Let me start off by saying that I've almost completely washed my hands with this whole 'NBA' nonsense. I watched the league back when I was playing Varsity ball in High school, but since then, my interest has dipped with each year...

NBA Finals of 2008 sparked a new interest for me. Before that series, I had no interest at all. I watched a few highlights and I rested on a channel that was showing a game just long enough for a commercial break and then I was out. NBA Finals 2008: Celtics v. Lakers. For no reason other than the nostalgia of Bird v. Magic, I watched this series. They hyped it up like it was some type of historical repeat from the late 80's. I liked it. I also rooted on Allen and Garnett, both terrific players and sure-shot HOF's and I was glad they got their piece of the pie in the end. After so many seasons spent falling short of victory, they went to a team that seemed to be aiming for the championship that year and that year only, loading up for that one season. Oh yeah .. and fuck Kobe Bryant.

After that, I was done again. Fast forward to 2010 NBA Finals. Once again, Celtics and Lakers. Here we go again. I knew I'd watch this series again, as the match up in 2008 was exciting to me. The games were pretty fun to watch, but nothing to get out of my seat for. That was until last night ....

I arrived home from my softball games around 10:30 and flipped it on. It was midway through the 3rd quarter, the Celtics were down and all I saw for the initial 5 minutes was turnover after turnover, followed by poor shot selection. Then something happened. Did KG rise up? No. Did Paul Pierce show up? No. Did Kendrick Perkins all of a sudden decide to dominate the boards? Nay. Rondo? Negative. As a matter of fact, they were all sitting on the bench, with the game on the line. It was the bench players that took it over. Nate Robinson, Rasheed Wallace, Tony Allen, Glen Davis. Damn. These kids took the game over. And I loved every second of it. With the big dogs not feelin' it, the bench crew came in and brought the Celts back in it. I was literally standing up eating while watching the game; I simply couldn't sit down. Wallace drilled a 3 from the top of the key, Nate slashed the D for an easy lay-in. Davis was a pure monster on the boards. T. Allen D-up Kobe ... as best he could. Let's face it, Kobe is incredible. Its not even fair. He took a step-back 3 in Ray Allen's face from the corner and drilled it. The commentators just laughed. The entire fourth quarter was exciting, from start to finish. There were several times where Doc Rivers summoned his starters to the booth to sub in and then quickly pulled them back when his 'second-team' made a great play. The thing that could my attention? The starters couldn't give a shit less that they were being pulled back to sit. Garnett was on his knees, eyes fixated on the game, not caring that he was on the bench. Rondo and Pierce were the same. How many future HOF's would be fine riding the pine when the game is on the line? Not too many, but these are the 'great' players of this era. They just want to win. And if their 'second-team' is getting the job done and the chemistry is strong on the court, then let 'em be.

The final dagger came when Kobe, trying to be the whole team, drove to the hoop, jumped, realized he didn't have a shot, and tried to pass it out to the top of the key. Rondo scooted in and stole the ball and took it in for an easy lay-up. Celtics brought the series back to an even score; 2 a piece. The crowd was insane, the bench was phenomenal and the game was one of the best games I've seen in a while. Hey, leave me alone, I'm biased. I'm a Celtics fan all the way back to Larry Bird. I'm also a Knicks fan, but I've slowly deferred from them as of late, as they're basement dwellers ... that is until they get Lebron. WHAT??!!

Bring on Game 5. I can't wait ...

I can agree that its more exciting in college b/c they're not paid to play. They're only playing to win. But when the NBA playoffs start, they pick it up, b/c now they're after that ring (most of 'em). And after watching the 4 games so far, I can tell you that everybody on those teams WANT to win. Pro players get paid, sure and college players don't, obviously (though there are perks, mostly above board--but sometimes not). Pro players play for their salaries, sure. But college players play for future or deferred pay.

In the end, can't you argue that, whether college or NBA, it's ultimately all about money? So in the end, the reason for playing is the same. Good old capitalism.

So this past weekend was the 4th of July. I've been right on the money with my diet, training, and overall goals. Cheat meals have been limited, training has been intense, and even my 'partying' has been put on hold while I take legit steps towards improving my physique. Things have been going great. BUT, the 4t of July only comes around once per year, and I enjoyed it.

I think too many people lie about what they do in their personal lives. They come on this board and others, preaching about how they eat clean, never miss a meal, never cheat, never miss a training session, put up astounding numbers, etc. When you see them in person you can't help but question their posts. If someone never drinks, never parties, never skips the necessities, then their physique should prove it. In reality, it rarely happens. Don't get me wrong. I know there are plenty of guys who live, sleep, eat, and die for bodybuilding. I just like to tell it how it is. I see so many guys who claim that they're 100% in it when it comes to bodybuilding. They tell me they're on this steroid and that PH, yet their body looks bloated, soft, weak, and small. What are you doing, brah? Oh wait, you get bombed 4x/week and eat pizza, wings, and cheese steaks at 4am a few times a week. Bingo. We have a winner. Dude. Just be real.

I've always been honest with you guys. I do go out and enjoy my weekends. No, I don't go out and get 'bombed' every Friday and Saturday night. For the most part, I go out on one of those nights and have a few beers with some friends. Does it occasionally get crazy? Sure. Do I sometimes crawl in at 4am, having no legit food besides a slice of pizza since 10pm? Yup. Do I lie about it to you guys? Hell no. Why lie? If I come on here and say I'm 100% sober, never miss a meal/training session, and then I meet you guys in public and let you guys down, what good does that do? How can I sit behind a computer screen and tag myself as the next Brock Lesnar (what a fucking tank that guy is) and then when seen in real life, I look more like the next Chuck Liddell (minus the fighting skills, haha).

Yeah, a little bit of a rant there. I just hate how some people can portray themselves in one way behind technology, yet when it gets to face-time, they squander up excuses. Oh, I took this past month off. Oh I'm eating dirty to shock my metabolism. Yeah I'm getting ready for another cycle so I'm taking it easy now. My personal favorite? Oh, I just finished a PH so now I'm just taking off from the gym b/c I can't build muscle without being on something so what's the point? Dude. I'll smack the shit out of your mouth. Go drink your vodka and tonics and think you're doing it 'good' b/c its not a dense, heavy beer. Meanwhile, I'll train my balls off, eat my clean meals, slam down a Guinness and wipe the floor wit ya ass. Come get some.

Anyway, back to the 4th of July weekend. As I said, I've been eating clean for about 15 weeks now and its been going great. Even though I've switched back to a lean bulk, I've kept the vascularity, the waist is staying slim, and I'm feeling great. Part of me wanted to keep it clean all weekend. Then I decided to slack off a bit for one day. Sunday I hit up a friend's bbq. I just chilled in the pool all day and sipped Margarita's. I had a few hot dogs, a burger, and enjoyed several drinks. Life was good. I crushed back on Saturday with a buddy, and then Monday I was right back on the diet, eating big. The 4th only comes around once per year, so I enjoyed life. It felt good. Back to work ..

Great write-up Adam. Funny you should mention all of this because it has been on my mind all weekend. I have come to the realization that I am in my 20's and this should be a fun and exciting time in my life so while I love bodybuilding and understand that diet plays a key role, I still have to live my life to the fullest. The thing is absolutely don't want to do is look back with regret.

And Brock is a BEAST! To take a beating like Carwin gave him in the first and get up from that to take him down in the 2nd was unreal.

Nice A. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the holiday weekend. I agree with ya and enjoyed the tasty treats throughout my time off as well. Sometimes ya just gotta kick back and take a load off but one must know what the limit is. I think, perhaps, the way people portray themselves online is how they ideally want to be. And the online world gives them comfort from the harsh realities that the "real world" can bring. At the end of the day though, we all have to live with the decisions that we make. The man in the mirror is the only person who knows the whole truth. Do we want to pretend to be someone else and live life half-assed? Or do we want to live with honor and dignity? Keep it flowing in here A.

One of the best and most real post I've seen A. I have never wanted to be that guy, the keyboard warrior who has everything on point but then attends an ABC and looks like fat albert. I love training, I love the pain the sweat and even the blood. But it isn't my life, I try and keep the diet clean, bust my butt in the gym and train balls out 4-5 days a week. But I will indulge on the weekends, and I will enjoy the time I have with the ones I love. I understand that some people are all or nothing type people, but I think balance and moderation are the key. This could be the case. If it is, I feel sorry for that person. I feel sorry that they feel like their 'real life' isn't up to par with how they wish it could be. Do something about it. Stop living in your little fantasy world and put the gears into motion in real life. At the end of the day, would you rather earn respect from your surrounding people? Or are you OK with lying to earn respect from others behind a computer screen?

I understand that some people are all or nothing type people, but I think balance and moderation are the key. Life's to short to have a stick in your ass... loosen up and enjoy the time you are on this rock.

100% agreed. Balance is necessary. I learned this as I went through my year-long competition phase. During the 6 month bulk up and the 4 month diet, I realized what balance was all about. During my bulk up, I shouldn't have been so dead-on with things. I could have loosened up. I almost lost some important people in my life. Luckily, I was able to salvage it. One example that always plays through my head was the night I told my g/f that I couldn't go out to dinner with her and her friends (all couples) b/c I 'needed' to train arms at 8pm on that Friday night. Why? This was the off-season. I could have easily trained Saturday and went out to dinner with her. She went alone. I've always felt bad about that.

This is NOT to say that I'm done competing. I WILL step on stage again. When the contest prep starts, its balls to the wall. As for now, I'll train hard, eat right, get my rest, and then enjoy the little things in life. I don't need anything crazy to be satisfied. Give me a seat on the beach, surrounded by good friends, and a beer in my hand.

I got my toes in the water, ass in the sand, not a worry in the world, a cold beer in my hand. Life is good today ...

Perception: the act or faculty of apprehending by means of the senses or of the mind; cognition; understanding.

In other views, perception to me has always meant how you view someone/something. The funny thing about us as human beings is that fact that each one of us can perceive something in a different way. If you grab 10 people, you may have 10 different perceptions. Why am I spitting definitions like we're back in our grade school chairs with the little storage bin underneath the desk? Because something happened to me last night that made me think about how I view myself as compared to how others view me.

A typical Sunday, I went grocery shopping for the week, cooked my foods and prepared for the coming week. I banged it all out early so that I could relax later that night without rushing around last minute. I got a call from some friends who had just gotten off work. They were going to this place I frequent; The Crab's Claw Inn. Its a seafood restaurant/bar in a beach town that is more of a 'local' spot than anything else. They have this thing called the '99 Beer Club'. You get a list printed out with 100+ beers, all bottles, that the bar stocks. You have as much time as you want to finish the list. Each beer you have, you check it off and so on. They keep a tally in the system. Once you complete the list, your name goes on a small metal plague and placed on the wall on the 'Hall of Fame' board. Its a fun way to try out a lot of different beers.

Anyway, I met up with some friends. Within a few minutes, one of them pulled me off to the side and started asking me about training and dieting. He's not a bodybuilder, nor is he totally dedicated, but he works out and just wanted some advice on how to get his triceps bigger. Even at this point in my life, with all the years I've spent training, having done a show, having decent numbers in the gym, having been 235lbs, and dieting 50 of those pounds off, I still find it weird that people ask ME for advice. This is not to say that I don't give myself enough credit. Rather, its about how I view myself compared to how others view me. Personally, I don't see myself as a 'stand out'. Maybe that's because I'm comparing myself to freaks like Ox, The House, Wrath, Machine, and even others like Enforcer, G Diesel, and TTL. I look at those guys and think, 'Damn, soon I hope to be on their level'. While I'm thinking this, the dude last night was thinking, 'Damn, I hope to be on Aggression's level at some point'. Perception is everything.

What's the point of all this? The point is this: bodybuilding .. excuse me, 'real bodybuilding' and those who have a passion for it are few and far between. Sure, there are plenty of guys who train chest and abs thrice a week for the beach. But I'm talking about true bodybuilding; dieting 24/7, 365, training in a pool of sweat, doing anything and everything you can to force an extra cm of growth, leaving the gym and seeing your hands tremble as you clutch the steering wheel, or your calves twitch as you try to hit the gas. We live the life. Respect the sport and those who admire it. You may look at yourself and see nothing special, nothing great, yet. But others look at you as someone they idolize, something they wish they can be, someone they look to for motivation. So help 'em out when they have a simple question. Be thorough and give them as much knowledge as they can handle. Knowledge is power, gentlemen. And if you get done preachin', don't look for a cookie. You passed on knowledge. The only reward you can ask for is to have them come back to you in a few weeks and say, 'Thanks dude, what you said really worked'. After giving him helpful advice, he shook my hand and said, 'Thanks, bro. I really appreciate it. That's awesome. I can't wait to try that out'.

Respect the game.

The same stuff has kinda been happening to me bro, people asking for advice left and right. When somebody asks though, you're right, we gotta feed knowledge to him, not just pure scientific babble or a simple tip without the slightest implication of understanding. Understanding is what makes knowledge all the more effective.

Yeah, I look up to several elites, but sometimes I forget or don't realize that there are those who look up to me too. Your post made me remember that some look up to me, so I gotta be a better man too. I've been pretty down and that realization that some do look up to me cheered me up big time. Thanks bro!

I've mentioned this on other posts and other threads, but I've had enough. Time to go off on another rant. I searched and browse the forums on a daily basis. For the most part, its The Forvm and BB.com. The latter is a whole other world when it comes to information and advice. But let's not get off track here. I have an agenda.

Everyone out there needs to re-read the definition of the word 'supplement'. Too many ass clowns in this world make up their own meaning for the word and that is when shit goes wrong. You can't rely on supplements as you're only source of food. Don't tell me that GainFast3100 isn't working. That shit has 800+ calories and 152g carbs per serving. Get the fuck out of here. What is the rest of your diet like? The rest of my diet? I just have 3 GF shakes a day. Bingo you fucking numb-nut. Again, 'supplements' are intended to aid your daily diet and training. If you normally ate 3 times per day and now you're drinking 3x per day, where is the change in calories in? No where! Now eat 3 whole meals and drink a GF3100 shake 1-2x per day, if you can fit it. Tell me the scale doesn't move. Go ahead. I dare you.

"X-product didn't work for me. I've been trying to lose weight and I haven't lost a single pound in 2 weeks. I want to return this product". Well, young gun, what is your diet like? Your diet needs to be perfect in order to drop some solid body fat. "Oh yeah my diet is perfect". Perfect? Shut your pie hole. If your diet was in fact PERFECT, then you wouldn't need the help of a fat burner to lose weight, you'd be able to drop weight naturally, on your own. Silence on the other end. Listen dude, you should be able to drop ~1lb per week on your OWN, without a burner. Adding in a burner will only help enhance the results, not START them. Get your shit straight, cowboy.

Here is my favorite one that I just came across:

"I've been working out for a while now, eating X-amount of calories per day, training hard, and even taking X-supplements. I'm not seeing results so I'm thinking of taking a prohormone"

Well, my young ass clown, if you're eating X-calories and not growing, then increase the calories! Simple. Then step on your little bathroom scale and watch the needle rise up. Or you can turn to a prohormone, wait. Wait a second here. Let's get something else straight. A prohormone is a fancy word for steroid. So let's put that word in there and see how it blends in ..

"I've been working out for a while now, eating X-amount of calories per day, training hard, and even taking X-supplements. I'm not seeing results so I'm thinking of taking steroids"

Sounds even more retarded now, doesn't it? Wanna know something funny? There's absolutely no difference in those two quotes. If anything, the latter is the SAFER bet. Yes, you heard me correctly. PH's out there today are so dangerous/toxic. Why? Its simple. They mask it with other molecules so that it can pass through initial testing. The 'PH' isn't really a steroid until it enters the body. It then converts to a legit steroid in the body by interacting with our body's own molecules. Bet ya didn't know that, did ya? Now are you gonna think twice?

This shit is simple, yet no one wants to put in the work when it comes to the dinner plate. Everyone and their mother turns towards supplements to get an edge. So you're having trouble gaining weight? Pick up a weight gainer! That's probably the only supplement I'd be OK with recommending to those who can't gain weight. If you say you've been eating 4,000 calories every day and you can't gain weight, then think about what you just said. "I've been eating 4,000 calories every day and can't gain weight". If you're eating the same # of calories every day, then why do you expect change? If your diet doesn't change, then why should your physique?

Bodybuilders dieting down for a show make adjustments constantly to help them drop their body fat and to stay away from stalling. Drop some carbs here. Replace red meat with turkey there. Cut out protein shakes here. Its the same way with bulking up!! Only this time, you don't have to be soo precise. Just eating more fucking food! God damn, I wish I had this information available when I was 18. I'd be a huge mother fucker right now. Instead, I learned the hard way; through trial and error, and it cost me several years.

If any of you young studs read this, take another 5min and read it again so it sinks in. If you hit a sticking point, just increase your food. Add an extra ounce of protein per meal and weigh in 2 weeks later and see it read a new number. How do you know what an ounce is? Easy. Go to Target and pick up a $4 food scale and use it. Does it sound like its 'too much' involved? Fine, fucker. Go spend $80 on magic potion B, take it for 3 weeks, step on the scale and see no improvement, then cry yourself to sleep for not listening to me. Would you rather spend $4 on a food scale and see continual results? Or waste $80 on magic potion B, shit your brains out from god-knows-what ingredients and not see any change? You tell me.

Nice words on the food, bro -- I'd put that up on facebook as a note, too, for anyone to read. I saw a guy today in the gym who hadn't seen me for awhile, and he wanted to know what I was using.

I said "a pound of steak in the morning, and a couple of pounds of chicken a day, at least one whey shake and a bunch of veggies, with some nice clean carbs thrown in."

He said, "No, I mean, what are you USING?"

[sigh]

There is one phrase that I came across a few years back. Since then, its been embedded in my head, forever. I use it in my signature, as one of my favorites quotes, and it will be the next tattoo I add to my body.

"I REFUSE TO TIP TOE THROUGH LIFE, ONLY TO ARRIVE SAFELY AT DEATH"

I'm not sure where I originally saw this phrase, but its been instilled in me ever since. Too many people in this world shy away from 'life', cowering in a corner and playing it 'safe'. They avoid risk and danger, thus avoiding excitement. Life is short. We all come to this realization at some point in our lives. The sooner, the better, in my opinion. I know for a fact that I don't want to be buried in the ground after not leading a life of excitement. Who wants to walk in the shadows all their life? The phrase needs no explanation. Its easily interpreted. I don't want to live a soft life, steering away from danger, risk, excitement, challenges, etc., just so I can live a boring life and eventually die.

An article on this site uses a quote saying, 'I don't care if I die, as long as they bury me in a big fucking box'. That's what I'm talking about. Get large. Be someone. Do something with your life. We all die in the end. I refuse to be that 'average joe' who gets buried when I'm 90 with nothing to show for it. I don't want the preacher to declare, 'Adam lived a peaceful life'. Shit, fuck that. I want him to say, 'Adam lived an exciting life, and he was a bad mother fucker in his heyday'. What's the point in dying if you don't even truly live?

I'm not saying to go out there and rob a bank, get chased by cops, and get gunned down in a shooting fight. What I am saying is to get out of your comfort zone. Take a chance. Take a risk. Do something to get your adrenaline pumping. And don't play the 'its how I've always been' card. Bullshit. I used to be that shy, calm, safe kid back when I was younger. At some point in the later years, I decided to make a change. So you can do it too.

That quote can be taken multiple ways. Often times when I talk about that in the gym, I get the immediate response, "Does that mean you take steroids''. No, it doesn't. But it would fit right into the mix, wouldn't it? Life your life. Go skydiving and jump out of a plan (highly recommended). Go to the only topless resort in Cancun, which happens to be a 21+ only, adult singles/swingers resort with an all inclusive package (alcohol included) with your guy friends. Get on a crotch rocket and go fast. Jump off a 100ft cliff into crystal clear waters. Go down to AC and gamble a shit ton of money for the fuck of it. Get some ink. Hit on a girl way out of your league. Fly up to Canada to visit a random girl you met in Mexico. Step up and speak your mind to someone higher up. Personally, I've done all of those things. I'm not saying I'm some type of adrenaline junkie, nor am I trying to toot my own horn. I'm just living life. Too many friends that I have lost touch with have taken the safe route through life. If that's you, fine. But I know some of you wish you could be a little more outgoing. You wish you could take a risk. Do it. Have fun. When I finally leave this rock, I want my life to have been a good one.

This is how I feel about it. My opinion. My belief. Some may feel the opposite. I call those the 'cowards'. Those who take the 'safe bets' in life. If you feel opposite, take a look at yourself in the mirror. Are you just creeping through the shadows in life? Or are you standing up on a mountain, waving your flag, saying 'I'm here. Come get it, mother fucker'.

The Bug

Its something we cannot control. Its a 6th sense that we all have. It chimes in when you don't want it to. It may say different things to all of us, but the point gets across no matter what. Sometimes we're soo far gone that we have to slap ourselves back into reality. Other times, its said soon enough to where we can stop it before it begins. In the end, the voice may sound different, say something different, or come through in another way, but it all ends up being similar to ...

"Bound by blood"

I'll never forget when I first read this passage from Wrath's Journey. For those who don't remember it or if you just want to read it again, here it is: http://www.animalpak.com/journey/week.cfm?week=9

I went on vacation a few weeks back with my family. It was to the same spot I've spent the past 20 or so summers of my life for a brief week; Myrtle Beach, SC. We sit on the beach all day, go out to eat at night, hit up the boardwalk/shopping centers and repeat it again the next day. Its our 'get away'. For the past few years, I've tried my best to keep the diet clean. No, I'm not going to buy my own chicken/potatoes to cook up. Hell, I'm on vacation. But I did my best to stay away from the bullshit; fried foods, heavy pasta, etc. This time was different. All bets were off.

I went down there saying, 'fuck it'. Life is too short. If I'm spending a week's worth of vacation time to sit on the beach all day, I'm living life. And I lived. If you don't believe me, check out my thread. I posted pics up of all the foods I ate. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks. They were all 'whatever/whenever'. If I spent an hour or two at the bar on a rainy day drinking, so be it. I had fun. But I had that little voice in the back of my head trying to pierce through. It was yelling at me. Mocking me. Making fun of me. Watching my body deteriorate. Just waiting for that time where it can say 'I told you so'.

We're all the same. That's why we're on this forum together. We all have a sickness. That's right. I said a sickness. We can't just let ourselves go. We can't be 'normal'. Its not in us. Plenty of my friends live the 'norm'. In my tight group of friends, I'm the only one who doesn't live the 'norm'. This sickness takes over. Its almost like I can't even help it. They go out and grab whatever they feel like during their lunch break; pizza, a deli sandwich, some crackers if they're pressed for time. They'll do the same on the way home. Meanwhile, for 2 years now I've spent every Sunday night cooking the first half of the week's food supply. Every night I come home from the gym to pack tomorrow's lunch in my tupperware. There is no ordering out, there is no 'grabbing a sandwich at the shop'. I know what I'm eating for lunch 2 years from now. And it will be the same thing I had for lunch today. Sick? Probably. But I'll be the big bossman compared to the fat slob. And I'm fine with that. Shit, several of my friends used to have cereal for dinner when I was at college. Yes. Cereal for dinner. One particular group of friends never used their oven once while at school. Meanwhile, I was cooking chicken/burgers, potatoes, rice, and eggs on a daily basis. Thank God for that shitty ass Foreman Grill. They'd come get me to go out and I'd stall while I finished cooking the last of my steaks. Yeah. That was me. I was that guy. I was the guy they made fun of for making steaks at 10pm, yet I was the same guy they came to for advice on 'how to get big'.

While on vacation, I watched my body deteriorate as the days went on. Although I was enjoying the foods, I knew I'd be paying for it later. What person in their right mind says, "I can't wait to get home and eat chicken/sweet potatoes again". Who the fuck says that? Oh, right. We do. I was housing buffalo chicken tenders with honey mustard, custom pizzas, beer and tropical drinks. Yet I couldn't wait to get home and get back on my diet. Get back in the gym. Get back in the flow of things.

We can't change who we are. We all have the sickness. Don't fight it. Listen to it and go along for the ride, my friends. We are those who stand tall among the 'norm'. I never want to be the 'norm'. Fuck the 'norm'. Fuck the 'norm', and GET DOWN WITH THE SICKNESS.

Memorial Day Weekend. For all those northern NJ, NY, and even CT people, this marks the unofficial start of the summer. They come down the highways in groups and they're terribly easy to spot. Aside from their license plates, other things that give 'em away are as follow; higher end cars, modified exhausts, 0% tint on their windows, club music blasting through a few 10 inch woofers in the trunk, and most of the time they rock that little Italian symbol on the back of their car. You know the kind; the metallic piece that is stuck to the rear, with just the 3 colors .. as if all the other clues weren't enough ....

For the past 6 years I've been working up north during the summer months. In my previous job, I work W-Sun, which meant I was subjected to the traffic for 3 straight days. Yeah, most of 'em took off on Thursday for an extended weekend. If it normally took me 1hr to get home, these fuckers caused me to waste another 20-30min of my life on the road, creepin', inchin' closer and closer. A steady pace of 20mph while everyone stares at the one guido who got what was coming to him; a ticket by a state trooper for riding the shoulder as he tried to avoid the traffic. Fucking asshole. I remember one time I was next to a guy commuting home from work. He was in this big white van with tools all over the place. He rode halfway on the shoulder/halfway in the lane to block this group of fuckheads from passing by. The NY-er was getting extremely pissed off while me and the other guy were laughing to each other. Traffic slowed to a halt; the NY-er decided to get out of the car and approach the guy in the white van. As he made it halfway up, traffic started again and he had to run back. FAIL. Eventually the guy drove about 10-15ft off the road to go around this guy. All in an effort to what? Who knows.

I finally arrive home on a Friday night. Time to go out. Being from the Jersey Shore all my life, everyone I know/hang out with ventures over the bridge 12mo/year. So we make some calls and we're off. Route 37 is the road that connects from the Garden State Parkway all the way into Seaside Heights. Its about 4 blocks from my house. We hit up the WaWa on 37E, which was JUST built about a year ago. There's about 4-5 on 37W, but we've finally got one that's on the side heading over to Seaside/etc. Clutch. Why didn't they do this sooner? Everyone use to have to bear a U-turn; pain in the ass. I hit up the ATM, maybe grab a tin of Grizzley and we're off. I turn on Sirius Hits 1 and get ready for all the music we're sure to hear within minutes.

Traffic on 37 is always 10x worse in the summer. Again, everyone is racing to get to Seaside. Cars are whippin' by, motorcycles are even worse. Fuck. We hit the bridge and ride over. There's no turning back. Its like a portal that brings you to an alternate universe. You see the bright lights, the amusement park rides, and massive cars all over the place. People are walking to and fro. Parking is a bitch. The lots jack up their prices in the summer. During holiday weekends, you'll pay as much as $30-40 per car, whereas most weekends its $10-15. My advice? Just pay the price. Its less stressful than driving around for hours looking for a spot that doesn't exit.

Park your whip and head on up to the boards. Freak show. You've seen it/heard it before, but until you get a personal look, you'll never know. You have 15yr old hardasses walking around with their shirts off, sunglasses on, and holding the hand of their girlfriends who seem to be trying to show just as much upper body as their shirtless boyfriend without being arrested. The funniest part is when they talk shit to you b/c you're staring. Bro, you're 15. And you have sunglasses on. You automatically lose ... in life. Any local knows better than to get into a physical fight in Seaside Heights. Cops swarm that boardwalk. Before you even think about throwing a punch, they're detaining you.

So you hit up a few bars. All of them are crowded, except for the 'local bars', which are dear to my heart. I hit up places like the BeachComber and the Beach Bar. Both places are low key and have good people. Its when you venture onto the street where you enter a different realm.

Places like Bamboo, Karma, and Hemingways are the legit clubs in Seaside. From a helicopters view, it would look like a swarm of ants attacking food. It would look as if the floor is moving. And they're not wrong. I hate going to Bamboo. You're forced to walk shoulder to shoulder, arms folded in, and watching your step just so you don't trip over someone/something. Forget about going to the bathroom. You may as well just piss your pants b/c its going to take forever to get there. Same goes with Karma and Hemingways. Sure, some nights are OK at these places. But during the majority of the summer, stay away. If you want to pay a $10-20 cover when every bar on the boardwalk is free to enter, be my guest.

Have a few drinks, rip a few shots, dance with some ladies, and spit some game. If you look around, you're bound to see some bouncers carry off some idiot who decided to fight over who that girl is going home with. That's OK, you two fight over her, you both get arrested, I'll swoop in and get her. niCe. Time to go home. But first, we feast. Its about 330am and bars are giving their last call. Yup. Its been a long night. Where do we go to eat? Steaks Unlimited baby. For those who watched that 'True Life: I vacation at the Jersey Shore', its the same place. 'Ayo, gimmie my cheese balls'. Yup. That place. I stand in the ridiculous line listening to others talk in a drunken stammer. Comical. I order up a Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak, California style. That shit comes quick, and it gets eaten even quicker. Time to go home. Call a cab. We're done. Just another night at the Jersey Shore.

As for those Jersey Shore actors ....

Thats the truth brother. Aggression and I have grown up together, running the same streets, and walking the same boards. MTV puts a bad persona on us Jersey kids. G Diesel didnt grow up to far from us down a bit more south. Its a shame what "Jersey Shore" True Life "Seaside Tony" has down to our rep, but, on the other hand, our economy is doing quite well as the spend $$ when they come. And like Aggression stated, we go to the local bars, that dont require admission ..

Truth. Since the show aired, I've been to Canada and South Carolina. Its true that people from NY/NJ have a 'look' about them. So when asked where I'm from, I always respond, "New Jersey". And then I watch as their eyes light up and they asked, 'Ohh, like the show?!'. Technically, yes. But I'm not about to give an educational lesson each and every time. I roll with it. When they find out I live just a few minutes from Seaside Heights, they get even more excited. Damn. Get a life.

You know, the sad thing about that is that the shirts are pretty cool. I remember when Affliction first came out. I bought a shirt b/c I honestly liked it. Within a few months, it was an Affliction/Ed Hardy take-over, and everyone was wearing them. I'm sure both companies are loving life right now, but I liked it better when it was sort of brand new and not played out.

I'm just trying to shed some light on how a typical night at the Jersey Shore is for a local; someone who lives there. We always have a good time, despite the increased attention from the show.

Aggression

I remember when the original trailer came out for this show. Most of our town went nuts. They created facebook groups, petitions, opted to boycott Seaside Heights, etc. Well, all that work went unnoticed, as they just finishing filming a second season in Seaside Heights (the 3rd season in the series). My initial interest was to watch it to see if I saw any of my friends. That did in fact happen; an acquaintance was the kid making out with Snookie on the couch at the bar in the 1st season. I may be against the majority of the locals here, but I fuckin' love the show. Why? .....

Most of the arguments for the show stem from them 'not being from the Jersey Shore'. Of course they're not. Countless times I've heard them say 'when I get back home', or 'Back in Staten Island ..' We all know they're vacationing here. For the most part, this represents the majority of peoples' problems with the show. Boo hoo, they're not really from the Jersey Shore. Yes, we're aware. So that argument is squashed. Or should I say smushed? lol

They give New Jersey a bad rap. Not really. For some of NJ, that is exactly how people are. Don't lie to yourselves. There isn't just one type of 'NJ person'. We have all different variations. We have the North Jersey 'Jersey Shore-esque' people. We have the 'locals' who bring a whole new flavor (one of which C.Coronato and I represent) and then we have the Southern NJ flavors (G Diesel reppin that area). Go even deeper. We have the bad parts of NJ like Newark, Jersey City, Camden. We have the upper class parts of NJ; Bergen County, Colts Neck, Brick. And then of course we have Atlantic City, which is a whole other universe. Most people think of NJ in the Sopranos' sense. The opening intro of that show shows Tony driving up the NJ Turnpike through the industrial areas of NJ. "The armpit of America''. haha. Yo, NJ folk. Get off your high horses, fuckers. Don't act like our shit don't stink. It stinks just as bad as any other state.

"Oh, I don't watch that show." "I refuse to watch Jersey Shore; that's not the real NJ". NEWSFLASH. YES IT IS! Come through Seaside Heights from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend. Its EXACTLY that! Yeah, its much busier, more traffic, more assholes. But in the end, its what enables a town like Seaside Heights to survive all winter long. Take Bamboo Bar for example. That place sits on a nice big lot just 2 blocks from the ocean. That has to be a pretty hefty bill to stay there. Bamboo is only open 2 days a week, year-round. Why? Because they rely on the vacationers to make enough scrap to pay the bills during the winter season. And why not watch the show? If you're not a fan of reality shows in general, OK, I have no beef with you. The choice is yours. But don't put something like, 'I'm proud to say that I've yet to watch a single episode of the Jersey Shore'' as your Facebook status. Who the fuck cares? Not me. In the end, I'll just hate on you through a personal rant thread on a bodybuilding forvm, so who the hell am I anyway? But seriously, no one gives a shit that you refuse to watch a show, whether it be Jersey Shore or Ricki Lake. Whaddaya want? A cookie? Fuck you.

The show is entertaining; plain and simple. I know a lot of locals petitioned for a 'The REAL Jersey Shore' show. Sorry to burst your bubble, but no one will care. The locals don't live drama-infested lives. BTW, after watching almost 2 full seasons of that show, I feel that the word 'drama' should be banned from the English language. Never before have I heard that word used as much as I do when I watch that hour long show every Thursday night. SPOILER ALERT; They do in fact use scripts. They carry them around with them, even at the bars. Sorry. If you didn't think that MTV somehow makes shit happen in that house, then wake the fuck up and smell the java, jabroni. If they just let things happen naturally, the show would be a bore. You really think Jenni and Snookie came up with the idea to write a note to Sammi? What about when Sammi/Jenni got in that fight? Didn't they JUST put Pauly D to bed after being blackout drunk? Then miraculously he's sober enough to wake up and help separate the fight. Hmmm........ . And also, they have a new cast member for Season 3. One of Snookie's girlfriends. Angelina is no where to be scene.

Anyway, I have no problem with the show. I know a few people who see them on a regular basis over there in Seaside. My brother sees them on a regular basis at the Aztec Bar. He's talked to Mike here and there and says that Mike is a decent guy; down to earth and chill. Sure, he sounds like a clown on TV, but I love it. He's just playing up his name. And how can you hate him? He's slamming hunnies and pulling in $5M this year. Hater's gon' hate. These cats are getting paid $20-40G's an episode to party all summer long, all expenses paid. If you think they're spending their own mula to buy plane tickets, buy drinks/groceries/pay rent .. well, then .. the java ... smell it. Working at a T-shirt store or a Gelato store ain't buying shit.

In the end, hate on them if you want. Who am I to judge? I'm just here to tell it like it is. I have nothing against that cast. And I will continue to watch that show and laugh.

My thoughts on all the characters:

Angelina: full of herself. Plays both sides. The only character I really hate
Vinny: gangster. I see him as the 'shy/good guy' at home, but this show has brought out a more 'bad guy' vibe in him, and I like it.
Pauly D: seems like another 'good guy' that is just down to have a good time. Some of his comments are classic. Him and Vin represent my favorite characters
Mike 'The Situation': I'll admit, I hated him in the first season. He played that nickname way too hard and was a dick in most situations. BUT, this season he has seemed to drop most of his cockiness (there's still some there) and he's just outright hilarious. Maybe we all thought he was playing a part during season 1 and now we realize he's just being himself.
Ronnie: Doing his thing and then getting with Sammi. Its obvious; he wants to have his cake and eat it too. He wants to womanize and hook up, but also have that strong connection with his girlfriend. Pick one or the other, brahonie. From experience, you're only gonna get burned, even with Sammi who's missing more nuts than a retarded squirrel.
Sammi: How many times are you going to get into bed? Damn. You got mono? You're being made a fool of on national television, and you still don't care. That's all i have to say. You did hook Jenni though; niCe.
Snookie: more acceptable to me in the 2nd season, but still gross and annoying.
Jenni: I'll marry you. That is all ...

Nice post, A... In all due honesty, I take the show for what it is... Entertainment... As far as the stereo-types go... In the '80s, I was the EXTREMELY RARE "punk rocker" in Kansas (Yes, I rocked a green mohawk *LOL*)... So I know there are all types of people in all different places... But, I have to admit, it is always funny to watch your reaction, whenever I bring this show up... *LOL*

I hear what you're saying about Jersey Shore, Aggression. And I'm all for anyone finding entertainment and happiness anywhere they can in this world. That is their choice, and this is mine.

I hate reality TV. I dislike stereotypes, especially when they are embraced by those being slandered by the broad brush. I detest modern quasi-celebrity, where people become rich and famous without being particularly good at anything. Which is why do watch The Soup, though, because they tend to put most of the stuff I can't stand on blast every week.

If these kids from the TV show can make a buck off of their 15 minutes, I'm all for them running with it and pimping the American public for every dime they can get. More power to them. Same goes for anyone else out there with a story someone else will pay to hear. Just don't expect me to be the one spending my coin or time (even more valuable).

More than anything, I'm kind of ashamed that I've stooped to dignify them in a thread with my words more than once here. Call me arrogant, but it is what it is.

Peace, G

I can agree with various points in your post, G. The point about becoming rich/famous without being good at anything really hits home. These guys will go on with their lives, age, and pass, as we all will. When they are put to rest 6 feet under, what can they really be proud of? That they are most known for being a bunch of obnoxious party-going morons? If they're OK with that, then fine. So be it. I however walk to the beat of a different drum, one similar to yours I assume. I earn everything I get. I live to make myself proud. Honorable. I'm playing Devil's Advocate when it comes to the cast of the Jersey Shore. I originally watched the first season for one reason; to see if I spotted any friends in the show and just to see my town on national TV. Nice post, G.

Yeah. I've called a few people/genres/groups out over the course of this rant thread. As I mentioned from day 1, I spit truth. Sometimes it hurts, but it always needs to be said.

Lately, I've been acting a fool. For how long? Hmm, I'd say since the start of the summer. Been actin' a fool for way too long. Why? Who the fuck knows. Last year I dieted through most of the summer. This year I was able to enjoy my summer, so its almost as if I made up for lost time. Weekdays were still legit and straightforward; 6 meals per day, training hard. Once the weekends came around, it was almost like I was living a double life. Bodybuilder during the week, clown on the weekends. I went out every weekend, both Friday and Saturday night for the majority of the weekends. I'm not saying I got tanked every weekend, but I drank. We all know how bad that effects the system in general.

I went away on vacation 8/13. I let loose on that trip, as planned. Nothing wrong with that. But looking back, I was letting loose all summer long when it came to the weekends. Even with food, I ate good, but I didn't pay too close attention to specifics. I enjoyed life. Fuck me. During my vacation, I ate/drank everything in sight and didn't care. I came back and wanted to revamp and clean myself up a little bit. Wake up call time.

Instead of just getting back on the diet and cleaning my life up, I continued to go downhill a bit. I was getting stronger in the gym, sure. But I was also getting a wider waist, a bloated frame, and the veins were going into hibernation. I came across some various 'diets' on the 'net that promised to give better results than standard dieting. First up was carb-backloading. No carbs until postWO and then you were suppose to load up. Going to bed feeling bloated and waking up and streaking to the bathroom wasn't my cup of tea. Fail. Next up was the Anabolic Diet. This diet called for zero carbs M-F with high fats and high protein. Sat/Sun was carb load. Carb load. Yeah. I went crazy and loaded up on 'em. Results? My stomach felt like a cement mixer M-F and I had an extremely hard time concentrating on various tasks. I was groggy, exhausted, and felt like shit. Fail.

Why all this nonsense? Easy. Because I was looking for a way out. I'm going away with my boys back to Cancun this November. A 6 day, 5night stay at Temptations Resort in Cancun, Mexico. The only topless pool resort in Mexico. Ages 21+ only. All inclusive food and beverage (yes, alcohol included). A singles/swingers resort. Win. So I wanted to trim up a bit and look good. Instead of just bearing down and going on that grind, I looked for easy routes. Anabolic Diet is carb-loading on weekends? Great! That means I can still drink on the weekends! What the fuck? What have I become?

I stared at myself in the mirror the other day, disgusted. Who am I? Get your heard straight. Nonsense. Well, my friends. I'm back. I'm not looking for words of encouragement because I've already provided that for myself. I'm not looking for justification, there is none. I'm just spitting fire. Fire meant to be burnt into my dome. Look at this as me thinking out loud. Another way to solidify what needs to be done.

There are no easy way out. If you're going to go on a new diet, do it right, and for the right reasons. If you're starting a new training routine, give yourself time to adjust. In the end, do what you know is right. Do what you feel is comfortable. There is no easy road in life. If a road seems easy, then its the wrong road. I've lived too much of a normal life lately. Back when I was doing shit the standard way, I was accused on being on 'teh roids'. I was told I look huge. My strength was up. I felt beastly. In the past few weeks, I've faded into a shell of my former self. Time to break through.

So where does that leave me now?

I'll be going back into the gym this weekend. I've taken roughly 2 weeks off to deal with this injury that should have never happened. I'll be training the way I love to train; high volume, hard, heavy, and intense. Because that's what I love.

As far as my physique goes, I'm put into a tough position. Before I went AWOL with random diets, I had a physique that I was proud of. Not happy with, but proud of. I had vascularity in my arms, shoulders, and even my quads on good days. The only thing buggin' me was my waist. When looking at me like that, it was almost as if my waist didn't match my body; almost like it was someone else's photoshopped onto mine. Reason? I dieted down enough to get that baby fat burnt from all areas except the waist when I did my show. So I'm lean and vascular all over except my waist, which looks smooth, puffy, and thick.

What am I gonna do about it? Easy. I'm gonna put my head down, roll my sleeves up, and put in the wrench time. I'm gonna stick with a strict diet and hit the treadmill. Its gonna be hard, demanding, and tough at times. GOOD. Because if its hard, demanding, or tough, then its worth it. It won't be easy. GOOD. I don't want easy. Easy is bullshit. Easy earns no respect.

You ain't seen nothing yet.

After the Olympia, I came home with a renewed sense of purpose. Being around studs like Evan, Kuclo, and Chris D, it makes you want to elevate your game to a higher level. So I entered my hometown gym more motivated than ever. Shit was ready to rock. I've had a training partner join in every now and then. Most workouts are great and intense. Last night he wasn't able to make it. It was me. Solo. And to be honest, I was stoked. It would be just me. Earbuds blaring, no distractions. I packed my shit together, took my Stak, N1-T, Pump, BetaAla9 and hit the gym.

I walked in there and went straight to the tricep pushdown. Last night was sort of a make-up night as I'm getting back on track from the O. Triceps, traps, some abs, and cardio were on the menu. All the standard triceps pressdowns were being used, so I decided to use the lat pulldown area for my pressdowns. I'm getting into the flow with my warmups. My earbuds are in, but not playing anything yet. Some youngins next to me started peering over. They were doing triceps as well and I could tell they wanted to ask something, yet they were a bit hesitant. I pulldown an earbud and give them a friendly nod hello. They asked what I was 'hitting'. "Triceps bro, the same thing you're doing." What confused them was the fact that I was using a lat pulldown bar to do it. I just told 'em I was too impatient to wait for the area to open. Between sets they ask various questions about how to use proper form, what type of pressdown works best, etc. I answered any and all questions, happily.

As I walked away, they looked at what I was doing and moved over to the bar I just finished using. I hear them say ''see, you need to do that to get big, like him. He's huge''. I don't see myself at huge at all, but these kids looked up to me and I was willing to help in any way, shape, or form. They tried to press down the weight I had just used. It didn't go too well, lol.

I walked over and set up shop at the bench press. Time for some close grip bench presses (CGBP). As I'm setting up, I see a buddy come over to say hello. After telling him I'm drained from Vegas, yet more motivated than ever to train, he had a weird look on his face. "You're training again? Like for a show?". I told him no, I wasn't training for a show. Its just that being around the big guys in our sport made me motivated to step my game up. He then asks a question I've been asked maybe 1,000 times by now, "well .. you don't want to .. like .. get as big as those guys, right? I mean they're too big". I laugh. I tell him that although some of them are 'too big', taking the sport way too far, there are in fact some physiques that I greatly admire and wish I could attain. He then goes into the familiar rant of 'why bro? You're in great shape now! Girls don't even like big guys, you should stay where you are now!" I've yet to meet a girl that says something other than 'You're big enough now, don't get any bigger'. And its never stopped me from getting bigger. That's what separates us from the 'norm', from the weekend warrior. I don't train for girls. I don't train to look good. I don't train because my friends do. I train because I love the sport and I'll never be satisfied with my physique. He couldn't believe what I was telling him. Though he's known me for several years, I guess he never really got it until last night. I do this for me. I have a desire, burning deep down within me. If I was to just 'stay where I'm at now' .... fuck .... I can't even imagine what I'd do. Not trying to progress? Not setting new PRs? Not seeing new veins? Not seeing the scale rise/dip a pound in a week? What the fuck bro? All those things give me a chubby. Its a fucking wonderful feeling. I wouldn't trade it for the world. Shhhiit.

Man, you just put into word what has been going through my mind this week. My time to lift is short, since I'll be living on my own in a few months, miles away from home and I've been set back over-and-over again from doing my thing for the past year. First the injuries set me back time and time again, then this week, ma and dad (God bless 'em) are thinking of grounding me from my next ABC. Sometimes I even get told to stop training and eating like a monster out of fear that I'll look like a freak. But that's what I wanna be, and I know what I'm doing. Taking me away from the iron is taking me away from my lifestyle, the thing that helped me find an education and find a possible job in the future, the thing that may some day put food on the table for my parents and future family, the thing that lets ya dig down really deep mentally and physically to find who you really are, the thing that straightened me out, the thing that allowed me to reach out to others and make a difference, the thing I love to do for all these reasons. Seriously, what'd I'd do if I didn't lift? To me, these setbacks become a test, so that I can dig deeper and attack the iron wit ruthless fury. I ain't the biggest and baddest, but I know I'm willing to put all on the line, to make some changes. I have no enemy now but time and myself. But really, sometimes, it makes no sense to be told to stop, specially when you know what you can take and you know what you're doing.

It's all insane to me to stop bangin' iron, specially if that means months or years of inactivity and compromise. There's only one thing I can do know to make sense of this all, to attack the iron with fury, get a sick pump, and get growing, while reserving my sanity for the outside world.

And yeah bro, I hella wanna make it to the ABC again. I'm doing all that I can to negotiate with ma and pa, without getting into a fight with 'em, hehe.

This lifestyle teaches us so much more than how to get big and strong. The consistency and discipline that this sport requires translates into daily life. It will help you become more organized and put more effort into daily activities. Like you said, it keeps the young ones off the streets and at the same time it enables our older folk to regain the intensity they once had as a young buck.

On the flip side, there is a need for a balance. Don't let this sport take over your life. For you, at 17, enjoy yourself bro. You have all the time in the world to be great. Lift hard, eat big, and get your rest. But don't push away friends/family. If your friends invite you out on a Friday night for some food at the local food spot, take 'em up on their offer. You can always train Saturday morning. Trust me. I've been down that road before. Find a balance and you'll find true happiness.

Thanks brother. You're right, specially this year when I have so much time for iron, I must never neglect moments with people, specially when opportunities to get together with them is now so rare. True, balance and time with friends is numero uno, specially now that I never know when I'll meet them again, 'cause I'll be away for years perhaps. Pushing aside folks who've always been there for me is just being plain unfair. Dang, it's just that they're all so busy so I never get to really meet up. But still, you're right, that my enthusiasm can never get in the way of time with folks and enjoying life. Gotta stay in check.

Keep writing up the good stuff here, sir. Lots for me to learn from ya.

Hmmm, I've been thinking 'bout what you said today. "Cause of that, it struck me that though I usually spend quality time and am on good terms with friends and family, I gotta keep my and make peace with my folks at home asap or else I'll end up severing our close ties over arguments that can be easily solved and ruin years of peace at home. I made peace, and things are better. Turns out, they were also planning to have one last big vacation with me before I say goodbye to pursue my dream. They were finally fulfilling our decade year old dream to get to Europe together and enjoy one of our few vacations together. Good thing I decided to make amends, 'cause I can't let petty arguments ruin such quality time with the people I love. After all, I can't blame them for groundin' me, hehe. They know best.

Thanks for the words, brother. They helped me a lot today.

Sometimes I have no words for shit. I just went over to bodybuilding.com to browse through the supplement section. Part of my duties as a Universal Rep is to help any and all people asking for it when it comes to Universal supps and general product questions. I went into this thread: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=128026423

He was asking for advice on a good fish oil supplement. I was going to recommend Omega, but then I saw a few people had already done so. Good. Then I scroll down further and people are questioning Omega as well as other EFA products and their breakdown, amount of epd and dha, how certain companies distill it better than others, the stability, and even the taste when biting into one of them. My reaction was similar to this:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm232/mintkiller/facepalm.jpg

I have to remember what I stand for, so I bite my tongue. But c'mon now. And this isn't just with Omega. Its whenever I go into that section of BB.com. Its all retarded, 130lb idiots discussing the conversion value of x-product's ingredient to y-product's ingredient. Dude shut the fuck up. You really gonna notice a difference? A .005% differential in conversion rates is going to help you blast through a PR and finally bench press that 100lbs?? Get the fuck out of here.

I'm glad I can call this place home. The Forvm. Shit like that isn't posted on here. And thank God. You think guys like Cutler, Fankhouser, or Dorian Yates spent hours researching the individual amounts/ratios of OTC supplements? You can bet your ass they didn't. To all those 130lb guys who can't bench press their body weight, yet argue over how many mcg's of a vitamin is best, go buy a fucking steak. Go to the gym and lift hard and hit the drive through on the way home. Get off the internet and go get laid. For all you clowns, I have one thing to say:

You're right. Its all over the internet. Because I scroll through all the lifting forums, I always see that shit on here. It goes beyond logical thinking. I talked to someone the other day. He wanted to take the test-boosters out of Stak and only use the estrogen/dht blockers. He said he just used a natural hormone booster and wanted a PCT. Um ... where do I start with you, ya jabroni? First off, you don't need a PCT after a natty hormone booster. Second, what were you taking? Turns out the kid was taking an actual prohormone and had no idea. Super fail. I go on to tell him to take the entire Stak for best pct-results and he might need something stronger, something non-OTC. I'm not too seasoned in the PH game. Why? Because that shit is dangerous as hell. I'd rather take the real deal shit, personally. Anyway, I tried to convince him to take all of Stak. Then he asks me if it was safe to take Animal Pak with Stak.

Word .... ?

Yeah man, it's crazy. All these guys need to do is do their research or at least read the labels. First of all, how can he not know that he ingested pro hormones? That's insane! IF they were to use products like the Pak and all that, they might as well follow the directions and take the whole friiggin' dosage on the directions! It blows my mind that common sense specially among the youth has virtually diminished.

That's the whole problem though; they do too much research! The guy I talked about (the one you quoted) definitely needs to just read a label, I agree. But yeah, the guy was taking a PH and not even knowing it, but then didn't know if it was 'safe' to take Pak and Stak. C'mon now. With the rest of the population, they do too much research to the point where everything they say is mute. I judge all my purchases on real world results. If the majority of people see legit results, I'm down. And I don't mess with prohormones or other illegal ingredients that are put into OTC supplements.

SHUT THE FUCK UP AND HAVE FUN

If you've kept up in this rant thread, you know I called myself out a few weeks ago. I was bouncing back and forth. Diet was shit and it was changing every week. Training was stagnant. My gut was growing. Fuck me. I decided to plow a path and do my thing. Well, after a few weeks, I have this to say ...

Clear your head and have some fun. The easy way out is for pussies and losers. I make the necessary changes to my diet and training and I'm having a blast right now. I woke up this morning at 206.8lbs, almost 2lbs heavier than the other day. Yet my waist is still slimming down. Gained a notch on my belt, gained a pound on the scale. You know what that means? It means I'm better than you. Well, no, not really. I got excited for a minute. It just means that sometimes you have to sit back and evaluate shit and figure out what to do. My diet right now is a combination of carb-backloading and carb-timing. Its working great.

As for my training, I'm doing the 5/3/1, heading into the final part of week 2. Next week is the 'heavy' week, where I'll be pushing the biggest weight so far. I'm stoked. I'm going into the gym with my training partner and setting PRs on a daily basis while getting leaner. Can't argue that. Come get some. Go in the gym, see a heavy weight, press it/pull it/squat it, go home. Win. For the last 3 weeks, I've been having a fucking great time in and out of the gym. Everything is clicking on all cylinders.

You can't ride the wave forever. So grab hold of it and rip it while you can. I'm going to Hoboken this Saturday to party it up for my birthday with my best friends. Shit's gonna get messy. And I'll be honest, I'm gonna get hammered and creep on some of Hoboken's finest hunnies, lol.

Enjoy your life, fellas. Don't make bodybuilding/powerlifting something that consumes your life. If you're competing or getting ready for one, then stay on track and be focused. If nothing is on the calender in the near future, have a good time. Don't shun out your friends/family/girlfriend just because you have to eat a dry chicken breast with plain broccoli. Step outside on a Friday night. Have an order of wings and a Yuengling. Or in Saturday's case, two 4 Locos as a pre-game and then shots of Tequila. wHAT?!

I'll be honest. I haven't had too much to complain about lately. Nor anything really worth telling. Yankees lost, as they deserved to. Giants are playing Dallas tonight. You can bet your ass I'll be at a bar with a cold beer in my hand watching that one. Deload week from the weights; sucks, but necessary.

And ... probably the most important part of this entry .. I'm going back to Cancun in 10 days. I can't sleep at night. I'm too excited. 21+ only resort. The only topless pool resort in Cancun. Adult singles/swingers resort. Went there last year and still have dreams about the awesomeness. Going back in 10 days to relive it all. All inclusive; alcohol included. Too much win. Win overload. The stories from last year are too explicit to type out on this forum.

This week has been a great one. And its only Wednesday. As I sit at my desk here at work, just 20min before I leave, I'm in a good mood. Why? Because the past few days in the sporting world have left me very satisfied. Yes, I am a Yankee fan, so the taste of defeat still slightly lingers on the end of my tongue. But two more recent events have drowned the sorrows of my New York Yankees and their defeat.

First up..

GIANTS VS DALLAS
I've been waiting for this game to go down. I spent the weekend eating clean. Monday Night Football. I was going to a bar and I was going to pound some brews and eat some wings with wishful thinking that the NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS would bury the Cowboys and end their season. For those that watched, we know the G-men didn't start off soo hot. Two consecutive drives that started deep in our own endzone were cut short by tipped passes leading to interceptions. Yes, two of them. And then Michael Boley came truckin' through the offensive line, untouched. Bang. Tony Romo's season is over. Victory. Call me selfish, call me unsportsmanlike, but FUCK YOU, Tony Romo. I'm glad you're done for the season. All the glitz and glamor of 'America's Team' just went down the shitter for the season. You were 1-4 already despite having one of the most talented teams in the league. Jerry Jones, get your head straight. Your team is ridiculously talented, yet they're 1-5. You know what that means? FIRE WADE PHILLIPS. He's a fat piece of garbage. The Cowboys' season is over. Romo is out 6-8 weeks (btw, thanks for the great Halloween costume idea, Romo). Yeah. I'm being Romo for Halloween. I'm going to wear a Romo Jersey, a Dallas Hat, I'm going to put an 'X' with black tape through his number, both front and back, I'm going to wear an arm sling, and I'm going to have a sign stuck to me that says 'Property of Michael Boley'. Giants are truckin' at 5-2. Seattle, you're better off starting your backup quarterback when you face us. Save your starter for next week and just sacrifice a single game instead of sacrificing your starting quarterback for the rest of the season

Game 2

Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat
I'm a big Celtic fan, ever since Larry Legend (Larry Bird, you idiots). We all know the big offseason move that placed 'King Lebron' down in Miami with Wade and Bosh. You piece of shit. Nike commercial or not, fuck you. Jordan, Kobe, Bird, Magic, they all stayed with their original teams and worked with them, eventually making them great. You think all of them had a championship year every year? Hell no. But they stuck with it through the good and the bad. My point is, if Cleveland had won an NBA title last year, Lebron would have stayed in Ohio. That's the point. Instead, he had a terrible series and the Cav's were eliminated. He packed up and said, 'Fuck it, I'll go to Miami and win a ring with those guys'. Say goodbye to your MVP chances. Ain't no one voting for you now. Say goodbye to the love you used to get nationwide. Say hello to a team that will go 82-0. OH WAIT. Your ass got beat by the Boston Celtics and their own 'Big 3'. Well, it should be 'Fabulous 5', with Rondo and O'Neal being the 4 and 5. Shiit, you can even go Big Baby on 'em and drop in Glenn Davis. I was so pumped about the game last night, I was ranting and cheering like it was game 7 of the finals.

My prediction: Shaq will play the best he's played in years. They'll face the Heat in the Eastern Conference Championship Series. Shaq will drop a duke on his former teammates (Wade and James) on his road to the Finals. Again, he'll drop load on yet ANOTHER former teammate; Kobe. He'll beat all 3 former teammates and win another ring. He'll retire and it will be a historical moment.

I am from Cleveland I can official say "Fuck You Lebron" I am so happy the Celtics wiped the floor with his sorry ass crying in the locker room the master plan of the Decision (Betrayal) equaled a loss for him. Once again, Fuck Him!

Also, I have always been a huge Shaq fan since he was drafted to the Magic back in the day. I think the Celtics will come out of the East and the Miami experiment will go down in flames. Still gotta root for my Cavs, but I will surely root for anyone that plays the Heat.

So a day later. Let's recap

Boston Celtics defeat Miami Heat (with Lebron)
Cav's (w/out Lebron) defeat Boston Celtics

que?

I hear you, SB. Any team that plays against the Heat, I'm rooting for them. Let's be honest though. The Heat will be a dominant force in the East. Will they win it all? Way too early to tell. They have all the tools to do so, but that doesn't mean they will win. Execution and team chemistry play a large roll. And they do not have the presence of a big man. That is why they lost to the Celtics. We have O'Neal and Davis in the mix all night. Even Garnett stands at 6'11 or something. I say they will most likely make the playoffs. Mark my words bro .. Celtics vs. Heat in the Eastern Conference Championship.

OK its Wednesday your excited about games, but you forgot about Game 1 of the World Series.

You know, I'm not a bit excited about the World Series, at all. Sure, last night was suppose to be a pitching duel, but the end score was 11-7, Giants. Lee gave up runs in the 2nd inning. I guess the magic is gone. I don't really have an interest to be honest. Nothing against them. If it goes to a Game 7, I'll watch it. Other than that .. ehh, I'll catch the highlights on SportsCenter.

It seems like there are way too many pussies and brown-nosers in this world today. Too many people on this rock has been scooping from the soft-serve tub. Maybe its just me, but I think that the people of our generation are, to put it simply, pathetic. Purely pathetic. If I offend you with my following post, great. Because I don't give a shit.

Let's talk about the so called 'men' of our generation. Whatever happened to men being 'real men'. Go back in the history books and take a look at what a real man represented. Hard working, honest, got his hands dirty, wasn't afraid to speak his mind, and the guy could handle himself. Back in the day, every man was capable of changing his own oil, checking brakes, and in the extremes, fixing engines ... no, not because they were mechanics, but because they weren't afraid to put their heads under the hood. How many people today can say they are capable of changing oil, replacing breaks? I know I can. Does that make me a better man than the ones who can't? I'm my mind .. yes. Yes it does. Yesterday's man wasn't looking for handouts, he wasn't cowering away in the corner, he wasn't obeying every command. He was MAN. What do we have today? Brown-nosers doing anything and everything to get ahead, with no conscious and no integrity. Punks in their mid-20s rocking skinny jeans wearing mascara. Pencil pushers weighing 120lbs soaking wet, shy and socially awkward. Ten year old kids who are obese from playing Xbox instead of going outside with a ball and a mitt. Shit, I'll even go as far as what kids drive today. Rice Rockets, panzy cars. Whatever happened to rocking pure muscle, racing down the road in a 68 GTO? Get the fuck out of here.

Maybe its just me. Maybe its just my opinion here. I'm 25 years old. What the fuck do I know? Not a damn thing maybe. But what I do know, is if anyone from the Rat Pack was still around today, they'd go around smacking us left and right. James Dean would do the same. Too many wimps in this world today, afraid to speak their mind and stand up for what they believe in. Too many of us playing it safe, taking the easy road, never taking a risk in life. When I was growing up, I wanted to be Venom, The Juggernaut, BeBop and Rocksteady, the Shredder, even Batman, because he was dark and elusive. Fuck you, Spiderman. I always wanted to be the Villain, or at least the dark, mysterious, evil superhero, like The Punisher. Those that did good in a violent way. I didn't want to be Superman or Aquaman. Pussies. Soft-serve.

Some men today make me laugh. If you consider yourself a grown ass man, then look like one. You get no respect for me if you walk around with skin-tight jeans, a lose hangin' v-neck, moppy hair, with more jewelry than my mother wears, all while sitting around 100lbs with 'abs'. A real man should be able to handle his business. And if that means having to throw your weight around to protect yourself and those that you love, then you better be ready for fisticuffs. Ayo guy, how you gon' protect your girl when she's bigger than you? Now don't get me wrong. I'm not asking for all women to be skinny like toothpicks. Lord knows I like some meat on my women. But in any case, a man should be the dominant person when it comes to sheer stature in a relationship. What goes on behind closed doors is non of my business. But out in the streets, you better be able to protect your girl and your loved ones if push comes to shove.

Even in the business world today, I see way too many of us having our souls sucked dry by corporate America. We work 9am to 9pm, going home drained of all life. We settle down to a microwaveable dinner and pass out, all to wake up and do it again. Where's the vitality? Where's the excitement? Gone. Chasing the almighty dollar. Your mind just operates around money. How can you save more, how can you earn more, what you can buy with it? You go home with no feeling of actual satisfaction aside from knowing your bills are covered for that month. Now I went to college. I graduated with a degree in Marketing and entered the respective field. But during my breaks from college, I was a part-time laborer for a union in NJ. Talk about satisfaction. Talk about feeling rewarded at days end. For an entire 8 hour work-day, I spent all 8 hours carrying 50lb bags of insulation up 3 flights of stairs. The next day I spent fishing wire through the ceiling tiles. The next, I spend sweeping 3 entire floors worth of dirty/garbage ridden concrete floors and throwing excess plywood off the roof, pieces that were up to 10ft x 10ft. When I drove by that building a few years later, when it was full of corporate nut-huggers, a great sense of satisfaction showered over me. I felt accomplished. If it wasn't for me, that building may not have been built. This is in no way knocking the job I have now. But I'll tell you what, I've never felt more job-satisfaction than I did when I went to work wearing steel-toed boots, layered clothing, gloves, my igloo cooler and my thermos, knowing I was about to get my hands dirty.

Its just sad to see that most of us have lost that rage within our souls. A great analogy would be that of a wild lion in captivity. He paces the cage, angry, hungry for the wild. But after a while, those eyes glaze over and he succumbs to what is now his life. I'm not calling out anyone in particular. I'm not trying to stir up a blue collar v white collar war. All I'm trying to do is light a fire under your ass. Go out there and get what you want. Claim what is yours. Don't sit around and feel sorry for yourself. You'll just dig yourself a deeper hole. Nothing in this world is free, nor is it easy. If you truly want something, if you have a dream, then chase it the fuck down. If you're going to be a man, be a MAN. Otherwise, get the fuck out of my face.
