HI Brothers. I've been enjoying 4 months of off season, but it's time to CRANK it up and bring in an even better package. The NGA Garden State Pro/Am July 10th is the target. I feel my off season was really beneficial & capitalized on the rebound. I am 10 days into my 16 week
prep. Work has been really stressful & I'm taking my last 7 credits of pre req's before starting nursing school. It's time to really let it all out. Only 17 lbs over my October 2009 contest weight. So the cut should be much easier, with even better results.
So please follow my Journey. You guys made the difference in my last Journey, keeping me
motivated!!!

Actually got all my meals in today. (small victories (lol)
My gym, Better Bodies, closed & will be moving locally. I joined Philadelphia Sports Club @Highpoint. What a hidden treasure. Great equipment & a lot of the guys from BB now train there so it's like home.
Chest & Bi's. doing some Big Ant SMART training for a change hoping to stim some detail
30 degree angle incline db press 2 wu + 15,15,12,12 reps
flat flys 35x20,45x20,55x15,65x9 drop 40x20
ss nautilus fly & vertical bench x 2

preacher cables 20,15,12,12

20 min's (rotating steps) killer cardio

lots of reps today but felt Great.

Do you have any other plans before or after Team Universe?

Right now, im not sure. Maybe do a show in June .. But im not sure, i want to concentrate on one show for now! I did 8 shows last year lol.

8 shows in one year. Holy crap. Good idea, target the big one & if something convenient comes up then use it as a warm up. I'll be following your journey.

I honestly thought (hoped) I'd be leaner by now, but Rage says I'm right on point and it will all come together. As you pointed out about your last show, this is still an experiment for me. I admit the time looks awfully close from here, and I know I have a lot to do yet. I think that drove my abs session today.

I'm looking forward to seeing your progress this time, and the final package for this show compared to your last one.

My sons came home from school today. Trained shoulders
Staying with SMART training for 2 weeks
Side laterals 3sets x 20
Smith front presses 15,12,12
Nautilus press ss db front raises 3x15
2 sets x20 seated side laterals just to finish them off

15 min of cardio then calf
leg press ss seated

Felt alittle off today. but good volume
another good food day 7 meals. still hungry

Saturday got tied up with school then an issue at work so wasn't able to train with RK &
Scals. Trained arms solo. Great session. got rid of some stress

Scals was up from W. Va. He's been training his ass off & 4 weeks out from the NPC Mid Atlantic Natural. Home stretch!!!! Just has to finish STRONG. Looking forward to cheering him on.

Thanks Drake & Dano. I am truly blessed to have son's that share the bodybuilding passion. RK is Hooked and is building a really solid foundation at 21 yo. He's looking to compete next year. Jeff still in the early stages but his nick name for years is
Diesel cause he's built like a Mack Truck. Lot's of support & drives me to keep pushing to get better everyday.

Trained Chest & Bi's. Just one of those days not 100% focused.
nutrition was good.

As you keep telling me, we all have less than optimal days, Tim -- especially with long work days or being short on sleep.

Just buckle down and hit it harder next time!

you're right. Got some good sleep last night, then up at 6am. school till 2pm, drove straight to the gym. Spoke to Big Ant on the drive & gave me some good idea's on training & tweeked the diet. Back on Target.

got 7 1/2 hours of sleep. made the world of difference.

Normally don't do cardio on leg day, but missed cardio Thursday & Friday.
30 min on the stairmaster (killer) sweated my ass off.
Mixed things up. workout in reverse.

abs= 3 cycles on the ab bench front,side,side 30,15,15

lying leg curls ss leg extensions 4x
walking lunges up & back 44 steps with 25lb body bar x2
leg presses (just like Jay Cutler lol) reps 30,20,15,12,12,12
seated leg curls ss. db stiff deadlifts 2x

Done.

Just trying to hold size & shred those quads. That was the biggest disappointment last time, not getting big striations. Hopefully, this time will be different

Looking back at last prep. I'm 8 lbs under where I was last time. This will be much easier cut.
Just have to watch not dropping too fast. Big Ant boosted carbs back to 200g/day & will see where I'm out next Sunday.

Felt GREAT today.

Training as smart and effective as I can. Lighten the weight slightly and really hold the movements, hopefully bringing out more detail. It's going to be interesting. Back and rear delts tomorrow. Plans on being the last time I use traditional deads.

A little lax in keeping current on my journey. Work & school this week have been overwhelming this week, but still getting in the work/prep in.
Trained last night at 9pm. Chest/delts/tri's
Felt really good. at that time of night the gym was pretty empty so kept things moving
super sets & one drop per group.

This afternoon will be less of a time constraint. Bi's, abs, calf, cardio
finishing breakfast then off to school. microbiology test

position. Very needed, but time consuming. in the end hopefully it should lighten my
work load in time.

Smith squats. my right knee was no worse then usual after last week, so squats it is

4/26 Legs got destroyed again. just goes to show you squats make the difference.
you can do leg presses till the cows come home, but won't get the same result

Bad temptation day. First day after 8 weeks of diet when I was starving all day. hungry within 90 minutes of eating & at work there were trays of chocolate chip cookies, brownies & soft pretzels. I didn't cave, but was ready to rip someones head off. lol!!!

I've been getting everything in but surviving of caffeine and little sleep. Took my microbio final tonight, finished an article critique for nutrition & posted a response for discussion #8. on top of an 11 hour work day. Took a break & trained Chest & shoulders with RK @PSC. not my normal pairing but great workout. BW 185.8 this a.m. strength still good. Been feeling shitty
but looking pretty good (not in clothes ) that in between stage not bloated feeling full but not
shredded (YET) but on track for the Garden State or whatever Big Ant recommends I do.

Friday is a big day. off from work to go to RK's graduation from college. Very proud of the man he has become.

Only have one more final so my sleep patterns will improve as well as my mental & physical state. Looking for big things in the next 7 weeks.

Going to have to pass on the ABC but hope to catch one in June

I like the natural organizations like NGA, but due to distance & the need to be there Friday & Saturday just not going to work for me this time. So I'll be going against the Big Boys. The plan is to hold size & bring in a really conditioned package. I'M NOT SCARED! lol!

Except for still being concerned about my old skin, I'm coming in nicely. I was 11.3% 10 days ago, at 231 or thereabouts. Veins are beginning to pop out all over, even my legs. I still have 9 weeks and 5 days (but who's counting?). I keep throwing up progress pics on Photobucket. (the link's in my sig line) My show, it seems, is now the week after yours! Don't you worry -- you ARE one of the big boys. I know you'll do the Forum proud!

After a rough couple weeks of work, school hopefully this last <8weeks will see some big changes. In that in between stage i.e. not bloated & full, not shredded. But still ahead of last prep, so Got to feel positive and keep pushing. Looking forward to vacationing 6/4 to 6/12 in
Myrtle Beach and living like a pro = training, eating & soaking up the sun. Oh Yeah!

I am very happy with the changes from the off season even though it was short lived. BY FAR much improved over last showing....can't see anyone really showing up and beating him to be honest. his conditioning is unbeleivable and hes still got 3 weeks or so! He could def step on stage today with no problem. Cant wait to see it come home!

Home stretch. (Thank God)

Rough couple of training days. Saturday got up 6 am & did 45 min cardio, ate & went to the gym. warmed up, adductor/abductor 2x30 each, leg curls, leg ext's. first set of squats and I strained/sprained my left upper lateral quad. tried a 2nd set, not happening.
stopped squats, stiff leg deads

20 min on stairmaster with my quad just screaming & called it. Sucks!!!

Took Sunday off other than light cardio.
Monday had to work, got done at 6pm. drove right to the gym & was told they were closing at
7pm due to the holiday. WHAT?????????????????? The holiday was Sunday.
Flew threw 13 sets of chest, drove home & trained tri's in my basement gym. Not Ideal but got the job done. Looking forward to training with Big Ant & dialing in the last 12 days,
Should be in great shape for the 17th.

Hey Christian,

That would be Great either way. I entered Masters & novice, but Big Ant wants me in the Open. So if you can hold the diet 1 more week bring it to Allentown. I'll be a middleweight so maybe two animals can stand shoulder to shoulder. I might be old (46) but I'm in the BEST shape of my life & ready for battle.

okay, 1 week to go. Met with Big Tony (aka Big Ant) Tuesday & trained Back. This guy has unbelievable heart & desire to help others meet or exceed their goals with just sound training, nutrition and Universal supplements (no drugs) I have full confidence in his plan & will follow it to a T. Went through mandatory poses & within a few minutes got me totally dialed in.
Big Ant has taken me to a totally new level ( I wish I would have met him years ago)
I, as well as many other Animals have greatly benefited from his passion for the sport.
**** Oh & by the way Big Ant is coming out of retirement. He is looking amazing= 230lb
and has abs, quads have nice definition. So anyone competing in the Fall better be prepared for his return. He is unbeaten in NJ,Pa, & Del in his last 3 years of competing.

Saturday 60 minutes on the stairmaster & a little abs. with or without carbs that stairmaster is evil

Sunday 6:30am 45 min cardio. Legs later.
Big Ants plan for this week will be the test of what I have inside. I'm Finishing the plan.
I have the heart & focus. I already achieved what I wanted, the contest is just a way to show off the hard work & sacrifice.

Thanks again for following my journey. I haven't posted as much as I would have liked to but with work, school, family, there is only so much time. The most important thing is training & nutrition, which I really put my all into. I'm in my best condition & am excited to see how I match up. Congrats again on your tremendous accomplishment at Team U!! At 24 your future is bright. Now enjoy some time off, heal up & get your plan together for 2011.

1st day of depletion training after 2nd round of cardio. I won't miss that
Kicked my ass, but I'll follow the plan.
Got some great feedback from people I don't know. Felt GREAT
Not looking forward to Tuesday & Wednesday but the prize is in sight.

pm depletion. today was hot & humid, long day at work. what's new. lol
Went through depletion training.

feel like crap. no energy & didn't sleep for nothing last night. up 4x to pee
the life of a competitive bodybuilder. Wouldn't trade it for the world.

My sons got me 2 Animal Posters. Really well done.
We are going to finish this journey strong. Let's go get it!!!!!!!!!!11

Well the end is near. Took the day off from work & just letting the body & the carbs do their job. Awoke dry but very flat. with some carbs (not too many) in me, was working on my posing & feel FANTASTIC. I can't wait to see the final product after water depletion & saturdays meal plan by Big Ant.

A BIG thanks to Anthony for all of his knowledge, support and friendship & Ryan for always being there to push & encourage me. Lets see what happens. All I know is I am in the best shape of my life, I worked my ass off, made many sacrifices over the last 16 weeks, stressed out my family, all for the love of our sport. Thank God for his grace!!!!!!!!

Hi Steve,
Thanks! In retrospect I am very happy with the results, In an NPC show your up against the Big Boys. It felt good beating some enhanced guys with year of hard work, solid guidance (Big Ant) and heart. Just started back training yesturday. took 2 weeks off. Now I'm back in the gym. School starts in less then 4 weeks so I put a post on Anthony's journey asking for advise on training based on 3 days/week. With working 55 hrs/week & school is Sat & Sunday
8:30 to 5:30pm. Don't see it possible to training more then 3x/week. I did my first pull workout
on Saturday i.e. back, rear delts, traps & bi's just focusing on solid basic movement rows, dead lifts, shugs etc. Fast pace & high intensity is what I have to work with.
Sunday was push day chest,delts,tri's,calf. I got ruined from saturday, don't think I'll be able to lift my arms on Monday.

How is your prep for the Fall going?

That was some great work, Tim! I guess now you buckle down to school and start building mass again? I know that's where I'm headed after last week.
