Discovery channel has some pretty hardcore shows on their lineup nowadays such as Deadliest Catch and dirty jobs but Has anybody seen the show Man vs. Wild. The show is absolutely insane, the host Bear Grylls may not be a bodybuilder or a powerlifter but is is a damn hardcore dude. He eats live animals without even blinking an eye. If thats not hardcore i dunno what is. If you have not seen this show I suggest you check it out. you can view clips of it on discoverychannel.com.

Has anyone ever been in a situation where they needed to use their survival skills?

That dude is amazing. My boy put it perfectly, he said, "Everytime I watch that show I learn 10 things that I hope I never need to put into practice." Discovery is an awesome channel. A favorite of closet nerds like myself. Peace, G

Survivor Man is great too. Discovery as well. I think Man v Wild has kind of taken its place or something.

On Srvivor Man there is no film crew. The dude films it all himself with like 3 cameras. He is literally alone. Awesome stuff.

Dirty Jobs has to be the best show on TV right now.

good god, that bear dude is a fucking joke, i am not shitting u guys, but my outdoor living teacher was paid to show that guy what the fuck to do in the wild for 3 weeks in Ecuador for a recent discovery channel filming for man vs. wild. my teacher Hazen Audel from Spokane, WA is a fucking nut, he leaves school for weeks at a time to go explore jungles in south america somewhere, look him up online by searching his name, or look up his company of outdoor psychos at www.thewildclassroom.com or www.explorebiodiversity.com

Mythbusters the one they did ballistic experiments with went to my local gun shop to borrow some of the guns they used. I thought it was cool when I saw my local firearms dealer on t.v., one of the test was if you shoot straight up into the air can or will it kill something on the way down?

conclusion=mythbusters test say no but a BAY AREA expert helped convict someone in a MENLO PARK incident where he alledgelly shot in the air and when it came down it struck someone and cant remember if they were injured or killed but he was convicted for sure news articles are available...there conclusion myth not busted but not proved.

Discovery, A&E, History, TLC, and yes MTV and BET love to learn but also relax...

Sure all these show are great, fun....
however the best show out there is the military video diaries of our soldiers in Iraq shown on the military channel. Sure man vs. wild is great, and I'm glad a couple of 'myths' have been 'busted'. But, the thought of another man laying his life on the line for a cause that either he does or doesn't believe in for the freedom for all of us to watch shows like the ones you all like and watch without discrimination.... Now that is a good show.

got lost hiking 4 years back.

My father and I would also go Camping with very little food and live off what we could gather/hunt.
