Working Sets -

Good sets, I picked the weights just right, that last set was tough, but doable..
Issues I found, I pushed my foot placement as wide as I ever have, felt good, I need to work hard on keeping my head up, I find that watch myself in the mirror, checking my depth and thus, dropping my head and as we all know..where the head goes the body fallows...

Next week I will start with the middle set, 235 and work up from there....

Grappler work -
Used the corner of the incline bench, I am tall enough that i did not need to weight the bottom end of the bar...Felt a great stretch in the obliques, worked the hell out of the sholders as well...

bar x 20 (10 each side)
bar plus 25 x 20
bar plus 25 2 20...

Grip work -
2 fat 35's plate pinch - 3 sets of 30's, one set to fail 15+secs...
Ring curls - bar plus 70 (80 total) 3x12
reverse curls - bar plus 20 - 3x12
curls - bar plus 70 - 3x12

Warm up was 10 mins on recubent - tons of stretching before and durning the lifts...

Current maxes for the 3 lifts:
Squat 285x3 (295 x 1)
bench - 225 x 3 (one forced)
Deads - 325 x 5

So as you can see, it will not take me long to hit adn pass my current maxes..

Good question bro..No wraps, no straps, no belt...just chaulk...I need to get some braces for them, help keep that knee cap in line...Inzer makes some sleaves, but dont want anything too tight...I need some like what BigAnt wears...

Hey B, have you noticed a difference yet in the powerlifting training as opposed to bodybuilding? I mean, in powerlifting, you're training the CNS at least as much as the mucular system. How's that part going for you so far?

So far so good, but I am only one day in...should know after a couple of weeks, but after a heavy squat day, I am doing good....

So far so good Ant, the knees held up well with the squats yesterday, I need to get some sleeves and then I will be doing really good....Stacy is doing good, some growing pains, but in good spirts, she gets to go shopping for nursery furniture today and that makes her happy....I will ice the knees down after cardio and stretching tonight....

Thanks Bro, the heavy weight, low volume is a huge change for me, racking the weight yesterday and lookind down at the log book going, "Where is the rest?" was a huge change, but I got my eye on the prize and the train is rolling as Brute says....lol.....

The body weight was at night, with all my clothes on, keys and Idod in my pockets, shoes on...so I figure that the "naked" body weight might be closer to 277-278, that is good enougt for me, was a little lazy with the cardio last week, so time to pull my head out of my ass and get that number down further.....

Now we return you to you normaly scheduled diet...

Stacy is doing well, we are working on her lower back pain every night, using Icyhot and a baseball to massage it out...Other than that she is doing well...

I have raised my cals, but am trying to maintain the zero carb diet, If I find that I am boging down I will start to slowly add the carbs back in...Thanks for stopping by big guy....

P.S. the ice and icyhot is working on the knees, thanks...

Deadlift night and here is how it went down....

Warm up, 5 mins on the bike, was going to do 10, but that bar was calling, I was in the zone...Cranked the Godsmack nice and load on the way to the gym, knocked the dust of the JL 10"...

Warmups - Focused on speed and explosion...
135 x 10 (i think, was not really counting)
225 x 5
275 x 3 (fuck this, time to get to work)

Working Sets -
315 x 5
320 x 5
325 x 5
330 x 5 (Oreo P.R. baby)
335 x 5 (once again...fuck yea!!!)

I did hangin lat stretches thought out the workout, took plenty of time in-between sets...That last set was a grinder, fuck me, but I got it done....Dont think that I will be in the 300's for very long....

Fucking smoke show..Got a spot for the 200 set, powered it so well did the rest of the workout with out one. I feel that I could have pushed the 210 for 5 soild reps, but a good weight to start with....MY arch was better today, but still needs a ton of work....

I tought that the heavy deads yesterday would be determantal to the bench today, but not that I noticed, the bar exploded off the chest, I did notice that I allowed the bar to wonder foward towards my face on the way up, not a nice straight line....

45 mins on the mouse wheel....good day

In doing this, I was dropping my head, causeing my back and core to break down...Talking to Powerfreak, he gave me some very simple fucking advise..."Turn the fuck around"...shit...That was an easy fix...

The overlap that I decided to build in worked to a charm, two weeks at some of the weight was perfect, the 255 was a fucking grinder, but I got them all...I am not sure how deep I was going, I know I had my thigh at least parelle with the ground, was my thigh past my knee joint as per the rules? I have no idea...The grappler work was tough, but well worth it.....

Think of it as twisting to touch your toes with both hands...You twist at the waist and bend toward the ground..But if you do that with your arms stretched out in front of you, you should feel a huge stretch in your obliques...I bend at the knees....Hopefully Powerfreak will get a vid up soon, hell maybe I am doing it wrong....lol..

You know when we do T-Bar Rows and the barbell is in the wall. Is this when you pick up the bar infront of you and you move it from one side to the other. I think I used to do this when I was boxing.

Yea, as long as you are not doing too much, buring too many cals...But I know that once I start eating like a powerlifter again, I am going to put on the fat again, so I will always hit tons of cardio...but you can never go wrong, heart health is utmost of importance...

* I don't remember if I did this set of not so I did two sets at 155, So I may have done 6 sets. The extra practice wont kill me...

The 155 was a bit heavy for the speed, but not too bad..I found that I was thrusting with my hips with out even trying, pretty good....I bring the bar down slowly, touch my chest (well,upper rib cage, high point)....Count to two then fire the bar up as fast and as hard as I can, explosion..BOOM...no hesitation at all...

Tomorrow is deads, I am thinking that I will do speed deads or rack pulls....I am thinking that if I alternate heavy and speed days, I will hit my 5th week, my heavy dbl/single week rested....Sounds good to me..

That is a good question for the powerlifters thread...I have so much to learn..I would say to go wide, get your feet out, head up...do some wide box squats, fire out of the hole like you have a rocket up your ass...Box squats, good mornings, grappler work...

So I decided that pulling heavy ever week is going to be counterproductive, so I worked up a simple speed day, concentrating on form, speed off the ground, constant speed throughout pull...No hitching, no stopping, no slowing down...

Warm ups -
135 x 10
135 x 10
185 x 5
205 x 5

Working sets -
225 x 5
275 x 5
295 x 5
315 x 5*
315 x 5*

* So for the two 315 sets I did one pull, set the bar down, walked away, walked back up to bar, grip and rip...treated each lift as a single comp pull..Not as fast as I had envisioned, but fast enough..worked on dropping my hips and getting more drive with my legs...

weight assisted pullups -
4 x 10 2 sets wide grip, 2 sets reverse close grip...

15 mins of cardio, mouse wheel with incline set on 8, speed on 3....

good session, deads wiped me out, I was huffing and puffing, no shit...

Ordered some Pak and Fish Oil along with a set of mini bands and some training books from Elite...the books were a buck a pop and the Pak was the cheapes I ever bought it at..So next week begains band training on the bench...

Working 10 hour days to make up for stacy being off...after work, i will go home slap some clothes in the washer, finish the dishes, go to the gym, go home more laundry and try to work on the babies room.....oh yea, cook and eat dinner in there too....lol....boy I am going to need a vacation...think I get one in what? 18 years....hahahahaaha
