I was hoping to start a 5x5 training on my next routine start, and i was thinking the animals could help me out here. Can someone suggest a 5x5 routine for me to use?

"if you are going to devote hours and hours over weeks and weeks to a program, please take 10-15 minutes to actually read this page and understand it. That's a retarded method of saving time."

Priceless.

Agreed, follow this program. This is the true routine, not some knockoff. The only difference is you need to take out the barbell row and put power cleans in, thats what the original program had.

Nice one from Bill Starr. Here is some information on Reg Park 5x5. This is the guy Lil' Arnold looked up to so he was doing something right.

It looks like a good programs and have contiplated on whether doing it or not. Is the program more for strength then putting on muscle or both. It looks like it is more for powerlifting since it has the big 3 compound movements 3 times a week.

It all depends on your body reactions to it. I did not put on a large amount of muscle doing the program, however my strength increased tremendously and my body felt great after a few weeks because the entire body was stimulated at 1 time instead of individual muscles. Ill tell ya though man, once that week 4 of the program started, it was kicking my ass hard.

Yea well right now I am deployed and have been on a cut ever since i got here to drop some unwanted weight off. When i get back to the states I will give this program a run for a little while since it does involve a little bit more than just bensh squat and powerlifting unlike some of the others i have looked into. I can say one thing though that after a 2-3 month cut you can loose alot of strength.

I started doing the 5x5 and have to agree with Leg. After I leave the gym(tent) if feels good cause the whole body is pumped. For me I am working on getting my strength up. Also being out here in Iraq I figure now is a good time to eat, sleep and lift.
Auburn where u deployed too? How is the gym and chow hall?
Basra, Iraq here.

It is excellent both for getting your lift numbers up and putting on muscle.
