Read that it removes some stress on your shoulder if you do 'em laying on your side. Tried it today, and I'd have to say I agree, also keeps tension on them through the whole movement. I then rotated them to the front to hit the rears.
I think there was a thread on this a while back, thoughts?

I never tried them lying on my side. I guess it's all about feel. I would think that I would feel it less just trying it now without weight. It is smoother and less stress on the shoulder but that can correlate to less muscle use as well. But if it works for you then keep on doing it.
