hey bro...try a search on calves....there was a good one a couple of weeks ago...i think 4 times a week would be in the overtraining catagory...might try twice a week

You can do 'em four times a week if you want. I did them five times a week for 4x20 at different angles and they exploded. Everyone's are different though and react differently so you have to experiment and see what happens. Peace.

I think you should try it for yourself, not everyone will respond the same way you know? i think you should test it out for a week.
but dragondad, i don't think it'll be over training cause on the animalpak.com this is the tip of the week:
Tip of the Week
Add five sets of calves to every training session to bring up the often overlooked bodypart.

I agree with focused. It wouldn't be overtraining as the calve are one of the muscle groups we use each and every day and must be hit a little bit harder to make progress. Just my opinion.
I got a pm frrom G Diesel and he suggested that you work them everyday you train, and switch standing with sitting exersices every time you train them. Ex: monday=standing raises/ teusday=seated calf raises/ etc......
I've been using this technique for about 2 months and cant believe how much its helped me out. Hope everything goes as well as planned with the calves.

That is obviosuly a shock principle which is great to use for a week or two. Anything more and it lead to being something that is more catabolic than anabolic.
