yo fellas..this may not sound like much to many of you, but i've just began to implement deads into my back program. so i thought that i'd test myself..seeing i've only done them maybe once or twice before because i just wasn't comfortable with them. so i'm at the gym last thursday night and i decide to test..i loaded 135 on the bar...not bad....hammered out 10 good reps..upped it to 185...10 reps..feeeling good...then 225 for 8....then finally..i went to 305...not a lot my most of your standards, but for someone who has never really done them..i was very pleased to hit 305 for 3 reps. felt awesome. i just thought i'd tell you all...how much my back was on fire for the next two days. Train hard!!

That is awesome.

Great you added good old Deadlifts to the routine.

I love them. They love me too, well my back loves them.

But make sure your form is correct. Here is a link to perform deadlifts correctly:

And remeber, a Deadlift came from lifting Dead weight of the ground. Like a dead body on war grounds, and the gym is the battlefield, and the weights are your commrades. Pick them up for the unity of your soul.

We all like to see others of this rare breed, with real heart and determination, succeed. We also like our sport and lifestyle progressing. Speaking of the Ditch of the Dead, it's just about time to throw myself down there. Peace

Yo, I see so many people doing back and never include deads. They not only are a staple in any soild back routine but are also a powerful full body workout. I never feel any stronger then I do when I'm doing deads. peace

If your not comfortable with the movement, keep the weight light until you are. A good way to hurt yourself is not being used to a movement and giving it your all with bad form.

good stuff man. Deads are the real men's excersise. You can really tell the primp and preaners from the animals by lookin at who's doin deads. If you wanna build some real strength into your deads, look into a 5x5 routine. I did this when I first started doing them, and over about 6 weeks I went from doing 305 for 5 reps to doing 355 for 5 reps.

well today i'm starting my max strength phase...and in 3 weeks i'll be in a power phase, so i will more than likely implement that 5X5 program. Thanks brother for suggesting it. we'll see where it gets me. I'm also doing them to hit my lower traps....i desperately need them.

Thats a pretty good lift for someone who just recently did deads a few times. Keep at it and you will see soon you will be hitting 4,5 hell even 6 plates. Just work for it

I am doing a 5 x 5 program right now. Yesterday I did 3 plates for 5 sets of 5. I am gonna do this program for the next 2 months. It has helped me before. Every week I am going to add more weight. I am hoping I will beat my record of 435. I will probably go for a 455, and if I hit that easily I am gonna go for a 475. In due time we will obliterate all our records. Good luck
