Hey Guys,

Last week I did my dips with my legs bent at 90 degrees and had someone sit a 5 lb. plate on them while I dipped. Now, I'm not going to be able to do this for long if I keep adding weight to them. We have a belt in our weight room to add weight to dips, but I'm kinda unsure if I could use it or not. Most of the kids who use it put a plate on and it hangs between their legs... but this poses a problem for me. I literally have no ass. I'm not trying to be gay... but it doesn't seem like that belt will stay on me very well. I haven't tried it... but if this is the case what should I do? Is there a way to tighten it up? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks guys.

You cna try using the belt while leaning slightly forward. I really dont think you'll have a problem. If push comes to shove and you do, hold your legs straight up and down and have someone place a dumbell between your feet. But again, I dont think you'll have a problem with the belt

The dumbbell idea is pretty smart... I might try that. Otherwise, I found some dip belts on a fitness store site that attach onto your lifting belt. This would prevent it from falling down at all (because the belt would be tight). Our belt in the weight room MIGHT be like that, I'll check and see. If not... I'll probably go to the dumbbell thing.

Hey I used to have the same problem. I got a two-headed latch and hooked one end to the chain closest to the leather and the other on the opposite side. this makes the belt fit tighter around your waist.

the more weight you put on that belt the tigher it gets and it usually hangs around your hips, try it you shouldnt have any problems.

Really shouldn't be a problem bro, like someone said you can try to lean forward a bit too (hopefully you're doing them on chest day??) cause once you start hittin a plate or so it's gonna be a hassle tryin to hold that kind of weight between your legs, I don't have huge hips but it works fine for me

Me and my workout partner just broke the new one Alan at APT sent me. We had 180 pounds on it and all of a sudden...BANG...CRASH...BOOM. It was funny and Alan was laughing and surprised. He is going to beef one up for me soon I hope. Keep your shoulders and arms tight in the descent. All will be fine. APT gear is fucking insane!!!

Jesus christ four fuckin plates, that's ridiculous. I'm hardly at 2. That story kinda reminds me though, there were these two kids benching today and I guess they thought they were being cool by benching 135 without clasps like a lot of guys do (usually people that don't have a problem with that kind of weight though) however I don't think it was exactly a warm up for him cause he needed a spot for it, and sure enough it got lopsided and both plates found their way to the ground.

Hah. That's happened to kids that workout in my high school weight room. Two kids who come in and do nothing but arms and the occasional chest... they were curling and trying to do 25's (95 lbs. barbell). Needless to say neither of them could even do it once and one made a pathetic attempt to get it up for him and they tipped the plates off. The football guys laughed at them for at least 5 minutes.

Check out the latest pic wk 15 of the Journey. Give the dip belt a try; put the chain thru the opposite ring & don't have the plate or plates hangin too low so they bang your legs. Try the dipbelt for pullups too.

With the weight that you are working with now... You should be able to hold them between your legs while you dip.

I use 25's and 35's between my thighs with no problem. The weight kinda sits on your knees and calves.
Anything heavier & I use a home-made chain contraption.

I suggest you start doing more squats if you want to get to the root of the problem. since I have started doing squats every leg day, my butt has gotten huge, also lunges hit the butt pretty well.

I have had my trusty belt for many years, and have loaded up to 245 on it! The belt stood strong, but the hooks are a different story because I have broken two of them. If they break just go to the hardware and get a replacement. As far as the belt is concerned, enough weight will keep it in place.
