"I am careful to avoid contact with any "normal" people, for this would surely lead to an unpleasant confrontation, a waste of energy and possibly a run in with police."

you said "ya'll"..where in the south are you located?
I posted my response in Big Jawn's thread earlier..but I will do so again here.
When I had finished reading that article by Powerfreak I just wanted to run to my gym and do squats! I had already trained legs the day before and was crazy sore, but I just needed to go. His words are still echoing in my head. I will have a great workout today.
I really do not know much about powerlifting. I always admired and ooohhhed and ahhhhhed powerlifters whenever I had the chance to watch them train, but I never really understood their style of training. You tend to get so caught up in your own thing and what you think works best for you, you ignore what is right in front of you and how it could benefit you.
As I read a bit more on posts by guys like Big Jawn and Powerfreak, you begin to understand the method to their madness and it begins to make more sense to me. Bodybuilders train body parts and Powerlifters train lifts and train accessory movements that support the lift. I would like to add powerlifting techniques more frequently in my training because I think it would give me that much more of an edge, see what I am really made of. Powerlifting can be both beneficial to your health and rewarding in the competitive sector. Powerfreak and these other guys here are a huge inspiration for me as I detour a little off my little yellow brick road, and step onto a whole new one...and look...they even left the door open!
An "ideal shape" is only ideal as the purpose for which it was designed. Ideally, each person should develop their own vision of what is ideal for them, rather than internalize someone else's vision, then work towards your own ideal.
