View Full Version : Shoulder Arthritis
I need help. My doc just told me today that I have arthritis in my right shoulder. I have had pain for about a year and have been getting cortisone shouts to help with the pain. After me recent MRI my Doc said I have lost almost all the cartilage in my shoulder and I basically have bone on bone. I am 34 years old and lift very heavy. I train hard 5 days a week. The Doc told me if I keep training I will need a new shoulder within several years. He said the heavy lifting has done this to my shoulder and sees this sort of thing with weight lifters. He told me to stop lifting and find another passion. I CANT!! Does this seem right. If I have such bad arthritis would I be able to take 100 pound dumbbells over the head for 10 reps. My bench currently is over 400 pounds. I am in shock. Has anyone had anything told to them that is similar or does anyone have any advice.
Thanks
Assman
unfortunate news, but with numbers like that I know you wont have a problem staying strong.
rather than an ordinary doc, see a PT, they are much more understanding and will help you recover better whilst working AROUND a problem and getting you back to training.
cartilage can take forever to heal, but I'm unsure of all the details eg. what lifts you get pain with, how bad the pain is etc. Discussing this with a PT will help you find out what stage of recovery/injury you are at.

keep focusing on adjusting to the pain. work lifts around it
That sucks bro man. Nice numbers too what about lifting all together did he say none at all. That will not heal bro arthritis in the shoulder Did you injure your shoulder before.
The doc told me no lifting at alll. I am still lifting. I have to get a 2nd opinion. It sucks. I have never had a injury before. I guess I have been lucky, but my luck my have run out.
