I never understood that stupid shit they do for football. When I was in high school football coaches would come up to me all the time asking me if I wanted to play, and what a great body I had. I was like dude the rest of the football could been in the same shape. Change your damn training in the summer. Mind you I did nothing but bodybuilding exercises, and I was still stronger than 90% of the guys on the team.

Bigger Faster Stronger

The program is good for athletes, I know a lot of highschools that incorporate this style in some fashion into there training program.

To the OP- it all depends on what you are trying to accomplish, obviously the football team could care less about how big they get, it's all about explosive movements and such for them.

Training for football or any other sport is a lot different than bodybuilding. In bodybuilding you use a lot of slower movements. An athlete is looking to gain more explosiveness than strength. Sure it would be great to squat 600lbs, but if they can't keep up it doesn't mean shit. I personally love this type of training.

We used to do this Bigger, faster stronger at my high school. When I stopped doing the program is when I got bigger, faster and stronger.

Yeah to each his own. I'm not 100% sure what the BFS program actually looks like. I searched for it but didn't find out a whole lot. I know it looked like they used a lot of the same stuff that I use in my routine and it works for me.

My coaches tried making my team use BFS back in the 8th grade and it didnt produce anything but lazy-ass guys walking around our weightroom. Right away i strayed away from this 'BFS experiment' and made my own routines via animalpak.com. People started to notice the results i had from animalpak and started following the same routines. BFS is for sports only and not bodybuilding. the program was made to increase strength, speed, and agility and not size, shape, or symmetry of your muscles. I say forget about it and stick to your own workout.

bfs did nothing for me. most of the time i was overtraining anyway. but we had to do what the coaches told us to. it's not till i got out on my own that i actually got bigger, stronger and faster.

used BFS my first two years of hs football, brought to the attention of my coaches westside barbell techniques with the big three and GPP and olympic lifting. the next seasons we were the strongest team in the conference. i did get a soild base of the BFS

I dont know what you guys are doing with the BFS workout! I did the BFS..and in turn went 13-1 my senior year playing football...I highly doubt any of you guys did "Dot" drills...shit we had circuit morning running consisting of box jumps, sprints, step ladder, and a couple other things I cant recall. Our coach beat our ass into the ground in the morning at 6 am in the morning with this cardio. Everybody kept track of their logs and whatnot..Our team held a seminar, and I had to do power cleans in front of 500 ppl! It may not be about "you", but the whole team..just my 2 cents

i garruntee you if you ever came to texas to play football practices would kill you. and it has to be about the whole team in texas because if you don't win the coach gets fired immediately.

I doubt it...I can handle it bro.. I went all conference...Our O-Line worked the hardest every practice, drivin the sled for 20 yards, then sprinting 50 yards to and 50 yards back, and driving the sled another 20 yards. Holding 30 pound sandbags with arms extended. Yea we dont play grabass during practice

Dots..brother you just brougt back some memories there....i liked the BFS program, made some really solid gains...But my coach was like yours, very creative in the ways of death by cardio....he was a track star, decatlete alt for the olimpic team when he was in college, but he could cold power clean 245 with perfect form and dunk from the free throw line.....i hated him when we were running stadiums or box jumps.....but i honestly miss all that shit...

My football team kinda forces you to follow their routine but I'm one of like four kids who just take the routine and throw it out the window. Coach doesn't care though because he knows I've been working out for a while and I'm the strongest kid for my grade level, and i'm stronger than like 80% of the sophmores/juniors/seniors.

I totally agree with how much of the shit they do is useless. They don't even do deadlifts. The only good exercises they do are bench squat and hang clean. The rest of the kids are doing dumbell curls for 30 minutes in front of the mirror and theyre all uncut or tiny. Then they do 10 sets of dumbell shrugs. That shit pisses me off. I don't even work isolation exercises anymore. I do stricly squat everyworkout, bench, hang clean, shoulder press, dips, and deadlifts. And my strength and size has boosted dramatically.

didn't play for my school, but working out on my own routine, diet, etc. I got into much better shape (bigger, stronger, and leaner, idk about faster) than my school's entire team. I don't agree w/ football training techniques at all.

To be honest, you Train for what you do. Straight up, "Bfs" Workouts are for Explosive strength and Speed, which is totally Diffrent than a Usual Powerlifter and Bodybuilders needs. We train to be strong one rep, to lift up a Mack Truck and to look Big, Powerfull, and Defined they Train to be Fast, Quick, and Agile, and be able to hit, Jump, Crawl, Sweat for 4 Quarters. Its like night and Day Bro. Train for what you do. They might not be strong in the Weightroom to our standards, but Could hit and move like a Train.

Read the whole thread- that comment's already been answered. In football it's not necessarily about bulking or cutting. It's about having core strength so you don't get knocked on you ass when a guy that outweighs you by 65lbs and is 3" taller than you lines up across from you on the line. Trust me. I was 6' 190lb until I graduated high school, and started 3yrs at a 4A school. The workouts (MOST) football programs have is PERFECT for what you need in football. You can worry about building you own vision of your body after your coaches are done with you.

AND saying that youre stronger than your entire team (I'm guessing here) MUST mean that your team isn't anything too special either
