Benched 300 with the slingshot 5 sets for 20 to 25 reps. I then moved to the rack. With 75 pound bands, bench 400 for 3 sets of 20. More triceps are blown.

niCe. I've been using the SlingShot for a few months now. Its a great tool, no doubt. And for someone who has never used any gear when it comes to powerlifting, it was fun to see how much more weight I could press up while using it.

I have a 3X size one, but all my clients are able to use it. They really enjoy it. And they are shocked what they can lift using it. A new lifting division coming soon. Lol

Good info. I've heard some great things about the Slingshot. Titan has the Ram and Super Ram, too. I'm thinking about getting one of these for my non-shirt semi-heavy to heavy days.

Got one 2 weeks ago. Went off the size charts and ordered an XL. Got it and used it first day. Was a bitch to get on. Pinched the shit out of my skin. But, my max was 355 for 1, I got 355 for 3 right off the bat. Hit 365 this week. But I ordered another one only 2XL this time.

How often do you guys use it and how. I only use it for my last two heaviest set.

Yeah it takes some workin' to get it on. I used it every other wave in the 5/3/1.

I like it for reps, but not for heavy training. I want to feel the full support. I have all my clients using my 3X. From 198 to over 300 pounds. Everyone liked it. If is a great way of showing people what a shirt can be like.

I feel like I do as well, thanks. I have been using it for 3 weeks now and it has added reps to weight I could only do singles with and pushed my 1rm up almost 50lbs. One more week of using it, then gonna do some raw work.

Added another 20lbs to my 1 rep max using the sling shot today.

I was able to add a total of 50lbs going from raw to SlingShot, from 315 to 365. I'm using it with the 5/3/1 program, alternating with each wave. Last wave's raw -1- week on bench press was 280lbs for 1+. With the SlingShot in this wave, the -1- week calls for 325lbs for 1+. Looking forward to it.

Thats some great work Aggression. I am liking it so far. We seem to be around the same numbers.

405 for 20+ reps?! Jesus...I suppose after 1215 that must seem like a picnic tho :-P

Out of interest, and as there seem to be a lot of Slingshot users in here, how do you guys see it as best applied? As something for geared lifters to use when they want an alternative to getting the shirt on, or is it useful for raw lifters (such as myself) to overload the triceps safely? Am a curious orange.....

Mostly for mid weight to 1 rep max for 4 weeks on. Then gonna drop it and do mixture of higher reps with medium weight and floor presses and speed work for 2 week, then back on it. Nothing written in stone though, if I feel like I want to use it, I will.

For me, I bought it on a recommendation by someone on here, I can't remember who. I think it was Seath. He mentioned that it helps with shoulder pain during the press. I use it with my 5/3/1 waves. I use it every other cycle, going fully raw on the other months. I've never used actual gear. It definitely helps with form, as it pulls your elbows in closer, helping utilize/build more tricep strength. Plus its just plain old fun to use!

Agree with Aggression. I heard the same thing about the shoulder pain. Bought it hoping to help me with that issue.

And whats fun is watching other people watch you lift heavy ass weight!

Truth. Also, the SlingShot is not well known outside of the powerlifting community. The gym I go to is not a hardcore gym, but its definitely legit. When I whip that red thing outta my gym bag, people don't know what the hell it is. I can see them all staring as I get ready for my set. I load the bar with 300lbs+ and rep away! haha.

Would it be worth it if you stay in the 6-12 rep range?

Ah, so by making you handle heavy weights and emphasising hte triceps, it should carry over into more raw pressing power? Interesting....and as you say, repping heavier weight definitely gives you the extra MAN quotient. :-D Thanks for the reply!

To me, it gets a little awkward once I go more than 3 reps or so. I feel its better for lower reps with heavier weight. On the other hand, Tiny did 400lbs+ for 20 with it. To each, their own.

Yes. Exactly. I use it every other month so that it translates to a stronger raw bench.

My main goal was to use it as another way to work on my rep range. I want to be able to do 8-10 reps with 315. So I have been doing 2-6 reps on my own, but alos when Im done satisfying my ego with the heavy stuff, I hit up some reps with it. I do beleive it will help with carry over and building my form. I will see as I only have one more workout on it and I am gonna go raw for a cycle or two.

I mainly use it for high reps at a medium weight. I do not like using it to max out. To me, I use the slingshot as I do bands. A few weeks with a few weeks without. I think using the bands or the slingshot can put a lot of stress on the joints. Make sure you use FLEX to recover your joints and always ice them and your shoulders down. Try doing 3 to 5 sets with 40 percent of your max for 20 plus reps.
