View Full Version : Documenting the Experience

This isn't "Life" any more. I just passed another birithday, and realized just that. So, with me now being past that halfway point, I'm calling it my Experience. The things I do, places I go, people I meet..... all of it impacts this Experience, and I'm going to document it here with vids and pics.

Whether it's my own training, working with some of my athletes, even doing outreach with my youth program.... it's all connected, and it's all gonna be here on display to the rest of the world. To be judged? I don't give a damn. But to put out there what an awesome Experience any life can be.....

As many of you know on here, I run a non-profit summer youth camp. This past Saturday, my youth staff from the camp, as well as my staff from my facility, went down to a local comic book store that was running a "Get out and read!" campaign for kids; haniding out free comic books, etc. I brought one of my strongman athletes, Big D, along to do some demos for the kids, and got roped into it myself:

This past Saturday, we hosted an organization called Jump 4 Joy, which is a non-profit dedicated to increasing physical activities for kids and fighting childhood obesity. Got to interact with some awesome kids; even had one of my strongman athletes do some rack pulls demos for them. But the highlight was when me and 3 of my strength athletes played tug-o-war with ALL of the kids!

Whether for professional or community reasons, we try to do a lot for and with our military, especially since we have the jewel of the US Air Force out here in Sin City, Nellis Air Force base.

As a result of our last interaction, we were able to get up close and personal with my absolutely favorite fighter plane, the A-10 Tank Smasher Wart Hog!!

All I can say is - Major Natural Test Boost!

The A-10 is so badass, it's my favorite as well by far. Gotta love the GAU-8 Avenger, 7 barrels of 30mm goodness, ha ha. I remember the first time I got to see one up close at the USAF museum at Wright-Patterson near Dayton...so cool.

The last three days were one hell of a busy weekend.

Started out with a Safe Street Trick or Treat for kids at my training facility. Kids 12 and under could come by for some safe fun: candy, movies, even a climbing wall (props to Liquid Grip for the donation).

After that was our corporate Halloween Extravaganza. Halloween.... Las Vegas...... 'nuff said!

And finally was the actual night of trick or treaters. Got to scare the hell out of some adults (MUCH more fun that doing that to the kids!). Didn't even have to do anything but just sit there...lol

Tell me about it. If one more guy said "I'm cold Capt, are we almost done" I was gonna lose my mind. It was 30 and the wind wasn't even blowin. No where near too cold. And they had on FUCKING turnouts, there like wearing an oven. I was sweating my ass off.

Bingo. I have gone to my office in 26 degrees the last two mornings. In my gym, it's sitting at maybe 40. I have told all of my clients that if they're cold, they're not moving enough. No one has complained yet....
