People always ask me is sex will hurt there workouts or make them better. Some people say after they have sex they feel weaker and not as strong others say it makes them stronger. So what do u guys think sex then train or train then have sex..

House i SWEAR i was going to post something similar to this today! I was watching Rocky last night (for like, the 19th time or so lol) and Mick said woman weaken the legs. I'd like some guys' feedback on this too? Personally, I've never had sex and then went right to the gym, so I dont know for sure, but I think i'd be a lil more relaxed and mellowed out, so i dont think id be able to smash the weights after smashing in the bedroom

I think you should train and then have sex. I actually read a journal article a while ago on testosterone levels that showed they might decrease after an ejaculation. Regardless, the normal physiological response to an ejaculation is to relax the muscles and the body in general. It seems that wouldn't be a good way to enter the gym. Plus, the increased testosterone levels from training will add to the sex drive afterwards. Just my thoughts though.

I've always trained first and then did the deed. Better yet, hit the gym WITH your girl and then do the business after. I remember reading something about how working out releases something in the body, heightening arousal levels. If I did have sex prior to lifting, then I'd probably make sure there was either a big meal or a nap in between the two .. or both, lol.

All I know, is that if I have been holding "it" in for like 4 or 5 days, I go into the gym with some good pent up aggression and usually feel a little bit stronger. At least it seems like it.

Personally, I've never had sex and then went right to the gym, so I dont know for sure, but I think i'd be a lil more relaxed and mellowed out, so i dont think id be able to smash the weights after smashing in the bedroom

Yeah man...my ex was a tad on the crazy side and I did what I could to make her happy. In the GYM idk some gyms are pretty nasty and I wouldnt want to mess up my mentality in the gym...ya know....The drive to the gym sets the mood and I wouldnt want to lose my drive because some girl is in the gym.

This could be both good and bad. While holding it in and training may be good due to the pent up aggression and testosterone levels, it can become too much. For example, I'm currently midway through a six week cycle of Animal Test. All I know is ... its becoming increasingly difficult to focus while all the cardio bunnies do their thing around me, lol.

I have seriously talked with guys that say they refuse to have sex because they think it will mess their hormones up. Chief, I've actually had experience banging my woman after a brutal arms session.........not a very good idea unless the T's (testosterone) happens to be in abundance. Oh! Another thing; this could help our fellow brethren here......you wanna get heavy with more sets? watch porn BUT (wait for it....) do NOT in any way pour the unwanted frustration in the toilet. instead, try hitting a bench and do what you think you can. OR...you can watch your favorite fight scenes from a certain movie or actual ring side match, then, go do time in the gym. it worked for me...it might work for everybody. just a though.

My Kendo Teacher was all for abstaining, I read an interesting article years ago that, from a Taoist point of view, women should and men shouldn't, because women are 'receiving' male energy during intercourse.
I think someone started a thread on here years ago asking if ejaculating affected testosterone levels.....I still wonder about that one..
I would say that if you are up all night because of having sex before a big game, match, comp etcetera, it's probably better not to. However, if you are "up all night" and can't sleep, cracking one off so you can sleep might be a good thing.

I recently had sex and that was my 1st time (I wouldn't call that sex cause I didn't ejected even in about half an hour lmao) I was having a week off, and I didn't feel any weeker nor stronger but yesterday night I went to the gym and was able to do more reps on almost every exercise. I think sex only helps u in recovery (because it makes u sleep tight) and has no effect on ur strength.

I'm married so if the wife wants to have sex and I say no because I've got a heavy session of legs coming up soon I don't think I'll get the opportunity for a long time again! My sex drive is way higher than hers so on an initiation standpoint if she wants it I'm game.

Very few of us are world-class, elite athletes who MIGHT have to worry about this issue... Where every last bit of performance MIGHT make the difference on the stage or at a meet. But for the 99% of the rest, honestly, is it goin' to make any kind of obvious difference in your gains over the long haul? I know this question comes up a lot here and on other forums but seriously, it's another question for fellas to get fixated on and worry about... And for no good reason.

My daughter that is a twin has ADHD, 20mg of Ritalin doesn't do crap for it, through in probable PDD-NOS (an ASD - Autism Spectrum Disorder). She get less sleep than I do. We live in a 3 bedroom house, 2 story with a basement. How much "action" do you think happens???!!!!! lol

Before kids ---- we could do it any time any where!

I think it is all in ones head I have done PR's the next morning after having sex and have done PR's without having sex in a couple days. Personally I am more relaxed the day after a good sex session so I would have to be more on the side of have lots and lots of it.

I dont know, I have had sex before the gym and i was fine while training.
But if you are single and need to bust a nut real bad, i think you should wait till you got home to rub one out....i feel that makes you more tired right before the gym.

Just to start off with i''m not obsessive over this and would not sacrifice one for another.
So i'm just wondering if anyone can tell me if it actually has a major impact on training if you do it the day before (because i will rarely do it on a training day) or after training on the same day (will it impact recovery/results). I'm 99% sure there is no evidence for this but just from experience and progress you have each made personally whilst giving the old fella a workout (frequency and timing). This is for body building by the way.

Your testosterone levels will be slightly lowered 60-90 mins post sex, so I would just wait maybe 2 hours until my "buddies" restore their ammo. Other than that, nothing much to be worried about.

focus, intensity, energy, rage...yea, it works in and out of the gym. after the deed was done, i went to my garage to work out, and had a bomb back and bi day. animal rage for the win!

i think sex before training is better, if you go have a killer leg day before, how much use are you in the sack?
training should never ever ever come between someone and sex.

I'm married so if the wife wants to have sex and I say no because I've got a heavy session of legs coming up soon I don't think I'll get the opportunity for a long time again! My sex drive is way higher than hers so on an initiation standpoint if she wants it I'm game.

I dont know, I have had sex before the gym and i was fine while training.
But if you are single and need to bust a nut real bad, i think you should wait till you got home to rub one out....i feel that makes you more tired right before the gym.

dude seriously, you only live once. Don't get so obsessed with this sport you're trying strategically plan out when to bone. If I ever met someone who skipped sex for the gym, I would kick them in the balls, I don't care if they got 100 lbs on me, fuck 'em.

You need dedication in this sport, but you don't want to become a fucking robot either, or eventually deciding whether to have sex or go to the gym won't be a problem, because all the less in shape skinny-fat guys you think you're so much better than are gonna be fucking your girlfriends while you're flexing in the mirror.

So I disciplined myself and did the 42 day challenge. It never gets easier. But during that time several miraculous events occurred. Scandals rocking local institutions, and strange local arrests of people that frequented my gym, (though they were only basketballers not weightlifters).

But as far as I am concerned sex must be separated from training. It is preferable not to engage in sexual activity before a workout. And, as abovementioned, the benefits can become spiritual in a sense.

Although if sexual activity was part of the actual workout, provided the parties are married, I think they could benefit abdominally and cardiowise. But for some reason I believe I am addressing the fornicator, and not the faithful husband having an undefiled marriage bed.

So call it bad mojo, call it bad karma, but I can assure that you will be unable to match more disciplined competition if rampant, defiled sexual activity becomes the norm.

I know some will argue with me. But right is right. Besides I have walked the walk, so I know what I am talking about.

Keeping sexual desire in check always results in a better workout.....period!

I believe you are looking WAY too far into the question. It is not a question of "married" vs. the "fornicator" and "defiling the marriage bed"... It's about should you do it BEFORE you train or AFTER. I don't believe House was really going into the spiritual aspect of it all. He is a happily married man, he is not defiling his marriage bed, he's just asking if you do it before or after??? JMO
