Hey everyone,
This is my first post and would like to see what kind of feedback i get. First, i've been lifting for about 3 years and only serious for about a year. I've taken a lot of different supplements so i'd like to say i know what works best for me at this point. Once i started with Animal and Universal products, never went back. Hands down the best support system and supplements on the market. Anyway, i'm gonna be bulking for a while to see where i can get my body. I'm 5'7 and currently weighing 190lbs. I've got some body fat that i don't like and i want to start employing more cardio. I'm confused about what i need to be doing though. Due to my schedule, i've been doing cardio after my workouts and only about 2 times a week. I read a lot about you guys doing cardio in the morning and then training in the afternoon. For bulking puposes but shredding unwanted fat, what do you guys recommend?

Welcome my man, glad to have you.
I think it will come down to what you find works best for you, or what is easiest. I personally do my offseason cardio post training. Ill have Nitro when im doing with weights, then do cardio, then my shake. I have been trying to do that 2-3x a week.

Welcome to the board bro.....lose fat first, then do a bulk phase....just my 2 cents
Fasted cardio in the AM is a huge help. 30-45 minutes of low intensity.
30-60 minutes of low intensity is nice post workout too. Just make sure your overall workout doesnt exceed 2 hours including the cardio time. Keep your heart rate in your fat-burning zone to maximize body fat burn. Once you go above that you're burning heart fat.

I do the fasted thing for the most part to... usually 45 mins, always low intensity when dieting down/SOMETIMES HIIT when gaining if energy allows. If I start to get hungry though, I will cut it short.
I also do 45 mins low intensity post training, but again, I will cut it as soon as I start to feel hungry, and if my workout was too tiring, I wont even bother with it post training and instead will go home and eat, and do it later in the afternoon... it's rare though that I have to cut a cardio session short.
You'll see way more success learning to train by feel than by the "plan" you come up with. It's like the guy who warned you abut not exceeding two hours, it's probably best not to go on for too long, but if you got energy to burn and you're not feeling too taxed, maybe you keep going for a while, your not going to turn into a pumpkin if you train for 125 mins as opposed to 120, there is no definite cutoff. Its not what other people/the myriad of conflicting research/your "plan" is telling you that is going to lead you to success, its what your body is telling you.
As soon as you decide something like "I cannot exceed 2 hours no matter what", that's just one more wall you've put in front of yourself that may hold you back in the long run.

My two cents as well...don't try to do both you will just go in circles and get frustrated. Definetly lose the unwanted weight before you try to add more as muscle.

I work 8-5, so my schedule is pretty basic:
- Cardio at 6am, which always consists of 3.5 - 4 miles outside, 6 days a week.
- Gym is always an hour after I get home from work, 4-5 days a week (depending on my seasonal routine.
I found this was the best for me. I tried cardio after weights, but it really beat me up by the end of the week. This was the easiest way for me to shed some unwanted fat and still maintain my mass and energy.

I either do my cardio on off-days (at lunch or at night), or directly after training. I don't do any fasted/morning cardio any more. It all depends on your goals. If you're trying to do a contest-prep, then you may want to be a little more rigid. But if you're looking to just lean out a bit for the warm weather, just get it in when you can.

Really all the post in this thread nailed it
For my 2 cents.....I love HIIT cardio, its tough and grueling I know, most bodybuilders have the endurance of a sumo wrestler lol so I understand the pain. I would do my HIIT cardio when ever my schedule allows, but I like it before my last meal of the day before bed, so that I have enough protein/carbs/fats in my system, and doing it close to bedtime will ensure after my HIIT session, ill be so damn tired so I can fall asleep faster.
