I'm looking into this myself. I swear Ill post here when I get everything right, but I usually make a stir fry type meal that you can reheat later. besides that the good old 2 slices of bread approach.

I do a lot of tuna burgers.... I take my tuna and mix it with Mrs Dash(or seasons of your choice), Oat meal, and egg whites. I even throw in some crushed bran flakes if I really want them to be crunchy and then I fry them in a little olive oil. They taste great and reheat nicely.

I usually eat tuna with honey mustard and pepper. Yesterday I made it with some onions, celery, tomatoes and honey mustard+pepper.

You could buy some Miracle Whip Light and some relish and make your own little tuna, mayo, and relish sandwich. Use about a tablespoon of whip per can of tuna, about a teaspoon of relish and some whole wheat bread and voila you're done. A good source of protein, a good source of carbs, and a little helping of not so bad fat.

this one isnt that bad and its really quick and easy.

1 can tuna
1 cup rice
franks red hot
soy sauce

jus cook the rice like the box says and then heat the tuna for like a minute mix the two together and add as much franks and soy sauce as you want. very easy to eat and tastes pretty good

There's nothing wrong with using full fat mayo with your tuna as long as it fits into your daily macro requirements.

My favorite recipe for tuna. Can of tuna with 2 boiled egg whites cut up get a little mayo and mix! Add salt/pepper to taste. The eggs add a lot of flavor along with some protein. It sounds grose but is very good.

Isn't this true for most of what we eat? I'm eating a bowl of tuna mixed with white potatos and crushed red pepper.. (I found the pepper in the break room ..) :(

I also find mixing it 1/2 and 1/2 with salmon highly effective.

When I eat tuna, instead of mixing it with mayo I use plain fat free yogurt. I add some diced pickles (or spoon full of relish if I'm lazy) and diced celery, then just eat it out of the bowl or make a sandwich with whole grain bread.

If its on your budget, get the tuna in a pouch. Its almost a full serving, plus its easy to carry. Then just mix in some plain old mustard. Makes it really easy to get down and doesnt add any calories to it at all.

I thought avacado's were very high in fat? or is that false?

Man, I can never get enough of tuna. My favorite (ie, simplest) meal with tuna:

6 egg whites
1 can of tuna

Fry this lot in some olive oil and spice up with salt, pepper and some garlic powder. Also, if you like - feel free to add onions and perhaps some chinese wook veggies :)

I get my tuna in oil, so I usually drain it a little before throwing it in the pan. But to be honest, I can eat tuna in any way, really - it's just great :)

When i eat my tuna i usually just put some calorie-wise salad dressing. Theres tons of kinds to choose from. My favorites are italian and sundried tomatoe. And i eat it with whole wheat crackers in the offseason. I have also noticed alot of ppl eat it with cottage cheese and salsa. I havent tried it for myself yet, but i think im going to give it a shot.

Tuna tastes pretty good in pasta. Just take any type of cooked pasta (whole wheat or multi-grain is best), your choice of pasta sauce, some olive oil and the tuna. Heat em up together, shouldnt take more than 10 minutes once the pasta's cooked.

These flavored tuna fillets are awesome (33g protein)
http://www.starkist.com/template.asp?section=products/fillets.asp

I also eat the Salmon with Lemon and Dill (25g protein)
http://www.bumblebee.com/products_indiv.jsp?prodid=915

With some brown rice or whole wheat pasta, a big glass of milk, and a couple uni-liver tabs it's a decent way to nab some protein for 3:30 PM snack.

Now I only open cans for tuna salad.

These are italian dishes we made at home...I am going to shorten them so you can use pre-packaged/bottled ingredients instead of from scratch. Now, if you do a lot of cooking and would rather have the real recipie and take the extra time to prepare a better tasting meal, I can pm you my family recipies on request.

Tuna and Tomato Sauce

3 cups marinara sauce (you can buy on the shelf whichever you like)
2 (or more), 6oz cans albacore tuna, packed in oil or water, drained
1 tbs capers (optinal)..if you get 'em salted...rinse them first..these are an aquired taste..try 'em first.
1 tsp. grated lemon zest (1/2 lemon)
1 tbs fresh chopped parsely
salt and pepper

Combine sauce, tuna, capers and lemon in skillet and simmer 5 min., breaking up the tuna. Stir in parsley, salt and pepper and serve with pasta or rice.

That is it!

salt and pepper
2, 15oz cans cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
1 med. red onion
6 tbs red wine vinegar

In large bowl, add tuna with the oil otherwise drain it if its water and add salt and pepper. break up tuna and gently toss in beans and sliced onions. Drizzle with red wine vinegar (add by tbs..6 tbs may be too much for your tastebuds)..serve as a side dish or on salad...or alone.

One more:

I've just recently added tuna as a staple to my diet, but I have trouble eating it by itself(I might just not be used to the taste yet). I was wondering if you guys know anything I can mix it with. I read about mixing it with some eggs and I liked that. Any help would be much appreciated.

Plain old with a glass of water. i kind of mash the tuna up so its really fine that way i can just shovel it in my mouth and down it, i do a can in about 4 - 5 mouthfulls. also this may sound stupid but what ive recently been doing to take the smell and taste away is before i eat tuna, put some cotton wool of tissue up your nose that way it takes the taste away - you cant taste without smell.

I eat it plain, just make sure not to drain the bastard.

Otherwise, some fat-free mayo will do the trick.

Or, for some real love, here is my special tuna salad recipe:

2 whole Pickles, chopped
1/2 cup Mushrooms, sliced
1 medium tomato, chopped
3 6oz cans albacore tuna ( it tastes better than light for this recipe)
little bit of pepper
1/3 (or less) cup of fat free mayo

Throw everything but the mushrooms and tomatoes in there, and mix that nightmare up, when fully mixed, throw the veggies in. Mix lightly, grab a fork, and be prepared for a fuckload of protein( about 112 grams for this size batch), minimal fat, and even less carbs. Makes 1 serving.

You can put almost any kind of veggies in there, but as I usually hit this beast when I am going low on the carbs, so I stay away from the most starchy ones. The pickles give it a good flavor, and the tomatoes give you something more pleasant to chew than dead fish.

If you are adventurous, try throwing in some fresh diced serrano or jalapeņo peppers, but be careful, it will bite you back.

I was starving so I decided to have a healthy snack before bed. I mixed a can of albacore tuna with leftover of my Black Bean salad with lime and cumin (other carb sources recipe thread). It was really, really good! It had some crunch from the celery, a bit of smokiness from the beans and was very filling.

It makes a very blanced dish of slow digesting carbs and protein...you could probably even add some fat free or light mayo if you want it a bit creamy or moister. I loved it without the mayo. I am stuffed now!

I found this on another thread here, but i didnt see it mentioned yet in this one

1 can tuna
1 egg
1/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs
onion (however much you want)
garlic
any other seasoning

Mix up in a bowl, form into 2 patties, fry in olive oil, serve with BBQ sauce, tartar sauce, or whatever you can think of that i havent yet. I have yet to find a sauce that doesnt taste good on it.

I just did this and it was really delicious. You can add to this however you like. Its pretty much a "salsa" that you add to your plain tuna to give it some taste.

1 small red onion, minced
2 celery stalks with leaves, minced
1 yellow bell pepper, minced
A bit of minced cucumber
1 tbs fresh lime juice
1 tbs nice honey
1tbs fresh chopped dill

Combine together and add to your tuna. The good thing about this is that it will sit in your fridge in a sealed container for a while because the lime juice preserves it. It will last a week in the fridge. I combined it with a can of tuna and no mayo...laid it out on a romaine lettuce leaf, wrapped it up and ate it.... was really good.

This is great for any fish, even on your burgers. I liked it on my blackbean burgers too.

this one isnt that bad and its really quick and easy.

1 can tuna
1 cup rice
franks red hot
soy sauce

jus cook the rice like the box says and then heat the tuna for like a minute mix the two together and add as much franks and soy sauce as you want. very easy to eat and tastes pretty good

I've done something similar to this. It's almost like a Tuna sandwich w/o bread!

1 can Albacore tuna, packed in H2O
1 dill pickle spear
1 Tbsp Samrt Balance mayo
1 cup cooked rice

Directions:

Cook rice with directions on box. While the rice is cooking, get a good size tuperwear bowl, and mix together tuna, mayo. Cut the pickle into little peices, and through it in there too. Mix them all up. When the rice is done, pour around 3/4 of it, in the bowl with the other stuff. Stir, and enjoy!!!

Looking for something different. I've seen some really over the top mixes before. Someone said they throw tuna and cottage cheese in a blender and drink it, fuck that. Mustard. It sounds a lil' odd but give it a try, it's awesome! 1can/pouch of tuna with about 2tbsp of mustard is awesome!!! Mix it up and throw it on some toasted bread. Good ish.

1.mix up one egg with a fork till yellowish
2.add in can of tuna with a few shakes garlic powder
3.add two tbsp of oats, and some onions to that
Mix this contraption together and fry on the stove top, and serve with cheese if you want

Lately I've been having tuna with more tuna. I'm cutting for the summer months and I'm not eating much else.

Anyone ever try tuna mixed with PB? My friend gave me the idea, because I hate the taste of straight tuna. This makes it much more bearable. Today as my post-workout meal (after my shake) I had 1 cup brown rice, 2 cans tuna, and 1 heaping scoop of natty PB all mixed together.
