its great to hear about people like that.
i'm so sick of people like jim wendler having gym-goers thinking that they have to deload every four weeks or else they'll burn out...
that adds up to like three months out of the year of time wasted deloading.
It is VERY difficult to overtrain as long as everything is in line (food, sleep/rest, supps). Learn your system and deload ONLY when your body/mind tells you too. That being said, I do agree with Evan and George when they say to periodically clean your system of everything that we slam into it on a constant basis. Let your system eat up, digest and eliminate whats in there. I would add that this should coincide with a deload. Its hard to overtrain but you have to go low at times to get the biggest response when the matrix is high. The key is to find the balance for each genetic imprint.

i agree!
i'd rather listen to my body than a template when it comes to such things!

If only it were that simple. Some people's bodies are idiots.

I agree with the video in the sense that "overtraining" is more of a mental aspect, it's the point at which our body is telling our mind that we hit that breaking point and that we should give up. Do I think there is a literal physical kind of overtraining? Yes. Do I think most of the people that complain that they are overtraining are actually phyiscally over training? Absolutely not. If you look at the golden age of body building, those motherfuckers were in the gym for four hours at a time, some times twice a day, and they loved every single second of it. And it shows in their physiques; the aesthetics, the stream lines, the perfect blend of mass, muscle bellies, and cuts. I believe that physical over training only comes when you have a poor diet and get little / bad quality sleep. As long as your diet and sleep regimen are up to par, I believe that over training is just a figment of the mind.
I knew a kid from high school, named Dante, that some would say was insane. He would get up at 4AM before school, and weight train on only a protein shake in his stomach, until about 6:30. Then he would go to school at 7 until 2:30, hit football practice from 3-6, then get back in the weight room until 8, 9, sometimes 10 at night. Most would say, thats fucking insane, he MUST be over training, hes going to hurt himself, right? Well, he's never had an injury in his life, and now plays Defensive End at a D1 school. Whats the moral of that story?

probably not an exception. just someone who worries about his goals more than his CNS.
