Tanning beds:
I just wanted some thought on this. Do you use them? Have you had bad experences with them?
I live in a colder climate, and i have started to use them, i'll do 10 mins at a time 3-4 times per week. I find i feel better afterwards, more relaxed etc. But i' am not sure if they are all that good for you.

I believe there are two different types, although I don't know much about the subject. There are UVA and UVB rays...one is good one is bad, maybe some research would pay off? The "better" beds are also healthier...and of course triple the price to use.

Chances are prolonged/over excessive use will be bad for you, but a couple times a week doesn't sound like a problem.

As an owner of tanning salons I can tell you tanning beds are actually better for you than the sun. The reason is tanning beds remove all of the harmful light from sun rays. Am I telling you to go for an hour a day no. You are doing the right thing going for ten minutes. You can increase the time up to 20 minutes a day and be safe. Everyone thinks tanning is bad because the tanning industry is regulated by law that we cannot advertise the benefits of indoor tanning. Check out www.tanningtruth.com for some great insight.

I havent gone tanning in a couple months. I generally go tanning when Im cutting, and I'll go about 4 times per week. I use the tanning beds and I go completely nude.

Luckily I tan easily and after 4 or 5 trips to the bed I can just maintain with a trip every couple of weeks. Find it relaxing and better attitude after tanning especially in the winter. And yeah, hell with tanlines!

I usually go a few times a week starting at the beginning of the summer so that I have a base tan. I definitely saw the benefits when I was in Vegas last August and could go to the pool without getting burned, especially when I saw all the guys walking around sunburned every night, lol. I find tanning to be very relaxing, and I often fall asleep in the bed for the 15-20 minutes that I'm in there. Yeah, it certainly does feel pretty good.

I believe tanning beds use UVB...maybe Foyer could correct me if I'm wrong.

They use both, the more expensive one is the best for you...I just can't remember which it is, ha.

Hahaha, must be nice. Ain't gettin' that here in NY. Although I can live with this 75 degree weather right now.

I used to tan last year when I went to school up in Cortland. It was a lot cheaper up there and they had stand up beds. If they didn't have the stand up booth's, I probably wouldn't have gone. It was quick and convenient. I don't go anymore because it's triple the price now that I'm back on Long Island, so now I look like mayonaise until the Summer.

It's amazing how many tanning salons there are here, well it is a college town, but we get like 400 sunny days a year, you can sit out and get a tan on christmas day if you want....but i guess the 100 dregee plus days in the summer are a deturant.....im not trying to bash tanning salons, i understand that they are safer..

after having the basal cell carcinoma cut off my back, I no longer use tanning beds

I started using melanotan 2 from melanocorp and now I mod the forums there I like it so much
4 weeks on and I am darker than 2 months of tanning bed use and with this stuff I don't burn in the sun like I did with a t-bed tan

I can't say I'll never use one again, but extended use won't happen anymore

i didn't want to start a new thread, but do you guys ever feel weird going into tanning salons? do you guys do tanning at your gym or go somewhere for it? i have been trying to get a tan for a while but now i am getting tan lines from doing cardio outside.
it just kind of seems like guys are out of place at tanning places from looking at sites like planetbeach.

I don't compete, so there is ZIPPY chance I will ever use a tanning bed. Quite frankly it's a little bit 'you know what' for guys to tan if not needed.....kinda like guys who shave their legs, if not a bber or swimmer...

I live in California, so I don't need a tanning bed.

I've been tanning for the past two years for just a few weeks before summer. It gets me a nice tan quick because I'm already fairly dark skinned. Helps the veins and striations become more visible too. As long as you don't overdo it, like my girlfriend going for months at a time, you'll be fine.
